В аромате — обильный херес и влажное дерево, торфяной дым, сладкие сушёные красные и бурые фрукты и ягоды, табак, шоколад, кожа, а на заднем плане смолистый дым, кофе и ваниль; с водой раскрываются просмолённые верёвки, вяленый лимон и лайм, камфора. Вкус жирный, вязкий, насыщенный, с ударом торфа (сравнивают с Octomore), древесной золой, копчёным черносливом, чёрным перцем и хересной сладостью на сухом остове; послевкусие долгое, обволакивающее, с мягким перцем, дублением и вяжущей сухостью. Хвалят за концентрацию, баланс и зрелость, поразительные для четырёхлетней выдержки, а также за родство с сильноторфяным сырым спиртом Smögen.
Мнения опытных расходятся сильнее, чем у остальных: один восхищён контрастом между ароматом и вкусом и сложностью, второй ставит высокий балл за богатый копчёно-фруктовый профиль, тогда как третий резко снижает оценку из-за неприятного «шашлычно-свиного» с соусом хойсин характера, плохо интегрированного хереса и молодой сырости. Остальные ревьюеры настроены единодушнее и в целом выше: отмечают грязноватую густую торфяность, сухой табачно-сигаретный вкус, идеальный для сигар, и «взрыв» вкусов с долгим фруктово-сладким послевкусием. Согласие есть по фактуре — плотный, дымный, торфяно-хересный профиль; расхождение — в приемлемости навязчивой копчёно-мясной ноты и оценке того, насколько молодость мешает балансу.

Interesting, the taste is so different from the nose. Amazing and scary at the same time. Very complex.

The aroma features spicy oak and smoky peat, sweet fruits, tobacco, chocolate and a hint of leather. 21.5 The taste is fatty, chewy, rich, smoky, oak and ash, smoked prunes, sweet baked fruits, spices and salt. 22 The aftertaste is quite long, tingling and enveloping. 21.5 Balance 22

| Вкус | 80 | Peat. Smoke. Again, quite sweet. Sweet red wine... oh wait, that's what sherry is, isn't it, but here it's somewhat different. Not very well integrated, to be honest, but then again, it is only 4 years old.Quite dry. |

NOSE. Sweetened peat smoke, classical sherry cask notes of dried brown and red fruits and berries, also woody notes but rounded, sweetened, not so fresh or sawdusty as in many whiskies these days. In the background; hints of tar smoke, coffee and vanilla. (89p) With water: Hessian with whiffs of tarred ropes. Cured lemon and lime. Camphor, Christmas pudding grass, freshly brewed oolong tea and a hint of good olive oil. (91-92p) TASTE: Rich taste. Wood smoke, a some tar, rich and rounded black pepper, good oloroso sherry notes. (88-89p) With water: Slightly sharper black pepperiness, rich, fruity and dry notes of dried fruits (90P). EXIT: Sherried in a dry way, with soft black pepper and wood. (87-88p) With water: rounder, softer, more sherried. Medium long to long. (89-90p) OVERALL: A rather demanding whisky which not only requires time in the glass and quite a bit of water to fully unfold but also commands your full attention and concentration. Nonetheless a great dram and very impressive for being only four years old. TOTAL SCORE 89 (90) points.

Wonderful and young, and most importantly, delicious whisky for its age! In the nose it is smoked prunes + Diesel + Aroma of burnt coal + sweet caramel smoke + bitter filter coffee. Smoke everywhere! The taste is a super dry taste of cigarette tobacco + sour skin of wine. The finish is cigarette smoke + tannins + cigarette smoke + astringent dryness. This is the perfect whisky for tasting sweet cigars! Nose - 22 Taste - 22 Finish - 21 Balance - 22 Rating - 87

A dirty peaty whisky, really thick and mouth filling. If I was to try this blind I would guessed a younger sherried Ledaig or a dry peated Bunna. I got this bottle on a whim a few years ago, glad to have it opened and I look forward to see how this evolves. I also opened the Smögen 'Rå' heavily peated new make spirit & I can definitely nose and taste the close kinship. This is young but it's impressive.

Tonight we're taking a little trip to Sweden ???????? Smögen Octaves 2:1 4y at 53.6%. On the nose, smoky and woody notes, with sweet red fruits, vanilla, a little camphor and a nice leather. At the first sip, it's an explosion of flavors, fat, very rich, smoky and ashy, on a nice peat, black pepper. Also very fruity, on stewed fruit with a nice sweetness and also dried fruit. The finish is rather long, the flavors coat the palate and keep the taste buds alert. The fruity, sweet side remains well in the mouth. 4 year old Dram, wow, already extraordinary in terms of flavors and balance. A real moment of pleasure. ❤ Health ????
