Maybe my expectations were too high for this one. I found the nose to be quite good but unfortunately I felt everything going down from there. Not a bad whisky but if I had bought the bottle I definitely would have felt I could have put my money to better use.

Had this one in a mini-lineup with the 18l2 and 18 yo. Funny to experience kind of 'line of development' in these drams: 12yo is the lightest, with fruits and vegetal notes and a spicy edge. 18yo already heavier nose, more spice and darker vegetal notes towards wood 24yo pretty heavy on dark vegetal/wood notes and very spicy. This heavier vegetal and spicy comes along with a smoke-like edge to it. The same goes for the taste of them, they're all smooth, round, pretty full bodied and thick. Whereas the 18- and 24yo have some more power and longer finishes, also because of the higher Abv (46% vs 40%). As for this 24yo: the nose is thrilling, versatile, rich, great. The taste needs some time to develop and become richer and better, the finish disappoints a little because of its relative shortness. But overall a great dram.

Bland, inoffensive - 24 years old and not much to show for it. Pass.

N- Great stewed fruits, jammy and marmalade, lifted with plum and cinnamon extracted from the cask (bourbon probably). Layered with dry old leather with some plasticine, rusty steel that reminds me of the copper still. P- Dried fruits and leather that lean towards sherry, sour dough and lime-y. Dry mouthfeel, but following by bitter caramel sweetness that disturb the fine palate a little. F- Medium-long, nice chewy tannin and bitterness, gently warm. — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

A decent standard with a good age, you notice the drinking strength and you grieve a bit for the strength of the barrel, all in all a nice whisky and fairly priced for a 24-year-old OA.

81-85 – Wow, really good one

Difficult to classify, he has a lot of things I like, but also some notes that I do not want to see, such as the dryness (the bitter kind, not astringent) and the somewhat alcoholic, but in the end he remains a nice older Sherry-OA with at least his own character ,

a minimal increase to the 22, especially in the nose. Nice old school whisky with exactly the notes you expect. The nose is terrific.

Nice fruity-spicy malt, even if it tastes more like after about 18 years. No big bottle candidate for what is on offer, there is a comparable taste experience for less than 100 euros.

COLOR: Amber (lighter than the 18 yr from 2022) - another very peppery/spicy bottling (Character of the still is very clearly visible) - much better and more harmonious than the 18 J. - for 100 - 120€ the price is not cheap, but for 24 years you can't complain, you just have to like this very spicy, peppery, angular style with a lot of oak

An intense, idiosyncratic, very good Highland single malt that you can't taste its age! [color:] = amber;

A good mellow, rich and deep aroma and a worthy aftertaste, the taste did not reach them, there is not enough depth and variety. A lot of moonshine and harmonious notes, but they do not cause rejection here, harmoniously fitting into the overall picture.

A very balanced nose, between wood and sweet vanilla. A discreet sherry, corn, peanuts, light tobacco, a little damp. Pudding, raisins, chocolate fondant, it's very delicious too. On the palate, very round, fruits of all kinds, vanilla and nuts. Smoked orange, thick honey, gingerbread. Plums and prunes, pumpkin, carrot. Extremely long finish, a bit fizzy, cola, sandy earth and pine needles. A pinch of charcoal and caramel, some pastry fragrances. Cool whisky. Deep and complex, similar to pre-aging in refilled sherry casks. Works great in a glass and develops well. 22 22 22 22

A good malt, but I would expect a bit more depth

The straw-yellow drop is quite light for 24 years of maturation, so I'm going for mostly Bourbon barrels. I like the malt a lot, I will keep the distillery under control. For a 24-year-old original bottling, the price is right here.

In view of the price, this is a great whisky with which not only beginners can have some fun and enjoyment (in the tasting), but which also has slight weaknesses (in the nosing). It lies between a very good easy-to-drink dram and a dram-the-enjoyment-starts-here, very tight 89 points.

for (wood)sharp in the taste and finish. Unfortunately it doesn't get lost even with water...

Had it in a vertical tasting with anCnoc 12, 18, 24. This spent 9yrs in Ref & ff oloroso S 7 Dark chocolate is very pronounced in this. Water will increase the sharpness. Heavy legs. 86-90 - A to-share bottle

Ripe. Dried fruits. Oak on the palate. Long finish. Maybe a very fine hint of smoke or even very heavily toasted barrels.

Nice bottle with good PLV. There are always younger ones who may be better, but here you get a solid 24 years. All in all a real recommendation. People who have problems with drying off peppery please buy a sample here first. I'm waiting for the one for less than 100€. Then it ends up on my shelf as "best buy".

A good sherry influence balanced with oak, but a bit thin and a shorter finish than I would like.

Better and a little more balanced than the 22 yo, but that too is anything but a revelation. Slightly more volume buffers the exuberant sharpness a bit off the 22 yo, but still pure to unbalanced and it is missing here in the mouth clearly in fruit. If you give him a little water, the whole thing becomes noticeably more harmonious and pleasant.

Lovely, complex and engaging. Orchard fruits mingle with darker fruits, fresh herbs with autumn leaves, perfumed notes with dusty old leather, honey with chocolate. And they're not at odds with each other. 21 years of ex-bourbon followed by 3 years of ex-oloroso works very well in this case. Not a sherry bomb by any stretch, and all the better for it. It's elegant, flavourful and engaging.

Today I'm doing a cross-comparison with the 18y AnCnoc, I got a sample of both so that I could "spare" the 24y in my bar and leave it corked. Let's see if it's worth it

While not being the most complex, best single malt a 24 year old can be, this one is very completent @ a fair price and its aged dignity is clearly noticeable in the intervowen notes of long sherry maturation bringing forth leather, moderate woodiness and elegance. Recommended.

A very nice, fruity, fresh and warm whisky that is easy to drink and makes you forget the alcohol. Mild and gentle, it shows its power and aromas without being overbearing. Very nice, I like it very much.

I think the 22er better. Bad he is not at all, the taste for me even excellent, finish and nose limping back. 87 points

Blind tasted on 03-02-2022.

This is a good thing for food. The price in the Chinese market is very low, less than 1,000 yuan can be bought. Good value for money.

A delicious filling that reflects the classic character of AnCnoc and adds a mature touch. Only the sharpness of the taste disturbs something.

Not a sherry bomb, but very close. Really rich whisky that shows off what one would expect with such an age. It’s also one of the cheapest whiskies of its age on the market. In the 18, the bourbon and sherry are very balanced. Here the sherry is in the foreground.

Somehow he didn't pick me up. Has very nice beginnings but is neither fish nor meat, good average, very well priced!

Clearly sherry on the nose (as expected), with some wood, spice and marzipan. Sherry and pepper dominate the taste, mint and spice are slightly behind. Also seems very dry. A bit too ambitious in terms of price.

Years ago, in my early whisky days I read a note that the An Cnoc 12y is a must have in your collection. Little did I know, and I can confirm that that was quite a mistake. This 24y OB is a completely different ballgame., and I will repeat: this is a must have in your collection.

Finding such a balanced and high-quality craft whisky at this price, age, and worm tub condenser seems like it's about to become a thing of the past. The fact that this whisky is no longer in production is a strong indication of this. While the bitterness might push the boundaries in some areas, perhaps even exceeding one extra point, the variety, vibrancy, and dynamism of the aromas make this whisky very successful! Superb! Price-performance ratio: Good, Very good! Would I buy it again?: Yes!

Super exotic fruity nose. Unfortunately, I can't quite confirm this on the tongue, but it's still a really great malt.

On the nose: fruity with golden delicious apples and peaches but also some spicy cinnamon. It arrives sweet and far back on the tongue. Brown sugar, juicy raisins together with cinnamon covered almonds and orange marmelade, slightly burned. The finish is medium in length, some spring flowers mixed spices together with marmelade cubes and again peaches. Clean, fresh and delivered with elegance. Rating interval 88-91

anCnoc 24 year old HSMSW 46% 30ml sample at home July 2022. A very dark golden. Orange with a slight yellow hue. Aroma is mince pie and fruit cake, currants and mince fruit, the mince pie crust might be slightly burnt, maybe a little white chocolate covered puffed rice. Also some musty old oak and wood dust. Body is watery. Taste is raisin and plasticky dark cherry, quite concentrated in the middle and then more breathy towards the finish. Liquorice. Some char. A solid sherried whisky. Nothing unusual, nothing standout. But good casks, good spirit and a good end result. 3.6/86

Quite the surprise this 24 years old An Cnoc. It’s a very lively and fruity whisky. It would have benefitted from a slightly thicker body, but the diversity of ripe siruppy fruits, fudge sweetness and Christmas cake spices make up for a very appealing composition. Recommended!

Ancnoc 24 year old has a sherried and fruity base that make for a naturally sweeter whisky, but opposing aromas and flavours (pepper, black tea etc) just about keep this sweetness in check. It’s an agreeable whisky with some nice aged characteristics. However, I can’t help thinking back to the Ancnoc 22 year old I had sat on the bar a couple of years ago – that was pretty awesome and I’m not sure this 24 year old version quite reaches those dizzying heights. --- blind tasting --- I really like this bottling again. I guess it's an older bottling that's matured in ex-bourbon casks. The alcohol strength is still quite high, maybe 50% by volume. Reminds me of an old Clynelish.

Surprisingly fruity, quite profound and smoky, w/ notes of burnt apple pie crust with chocolate, hints of milk chocolate and orange zest. RATING: 89pts – |87 – 89 (B+) → Great|

The nose is a board! Great! You don't want to give up the glass. After a few minutes the smell becomes a great potpourri of sherry and orange aromas. The malt also appeals to the mouth. The tobacco in particular is awesome. Such a nice spiciness. A 24-year-old from a distillery that is not so much in the spotlight, but wrongly, if you can try this drop.

Tasted at the end of a meal at L’enclume. Palate fatigued.

Absolut crowd pleaser! Great value for money (around 100€)

A very honest whisky, which is rather rare nowadays...it possesses exactly everything what the official tasting note said, and it doesn't need much imagination. This is not easy at all in an industry full of bluffing. BTW given the reasonable price tag this baby is a wise man's choice.

Smell: caramel, candied apple, plastic, lemon peel, sage, oak, herbal, a bit of mango 87/100 Taste: Maple sugar toast, honey grapefruit tea, dried mango, a little plastic, sweet and sour lemon tart, slightly bitter herbs, dry spices. In the latter part, the sweetness is doubled, and more butter, cream, caramel desserts appear, cinnamon, orange peel, Favron chocolate, elegant oak and tea soup. 88/100 Body: Full, medium-heavy, slightly irritating and astringent, and the fat is still 87/100 Ending rhyme: long, orange peel, caramelized cinnamon, clay, oak, relatively dry 86/100 Overall: 87/100, the smell is slightly plain, but the taste of the entrance is strong, clear and varied. The slightly salty sprinkles and the impactful desserts are combined together, and they have the bitterness of herbs. They are delicious and recommended.

Underrated dignified malt. A quiet whisky. Old school sherry profile. More on the dry side, but rewarding and complex if you give it the needed time.

Well-balanced, pleasant, harmonious and self-possessed whisky.

Give it a bit of air and boy does this open up. Waited a few months after opening before coming to any sort of conclusion. It really needed some time to open up. Nose, candy, floral, light sherry Arrival, quite viscous, great mouthfeel, sweet, dry and fruity Development, peachy fruits come more prominent, quite complex Finish, long, dry, still sweet, slight mint and spices Really wonderful dram, worth spending far longer than I have so far with

First impression after open bottle, left breath for 30min plus.

It's quite fruity and peppery, along with classic oloroso flavors. It's not especially a sherry bomb; it has a good amount of bourbon cask influence and distillery character as well. It's very soft and layered in the mouth; the only drawback is that the development in the finish is not there exactly, making the experience a bit incomplete. Nevertheless, it's still a very good whisky for the money.

anCnoc 24 yo 46% delicate dried fruit, a bit of spice, a bit mineral. Then comes fresh apple and pear. A very nicely structured and incredibly drinkable whisky. Good intensity. Medium-long finish, more spicy. One would like to drink such drinks from glasses. 86 points

Vinous sherry, massive old barrel, vanilla, apples. Sweet and sour.

Smell: finely woven bouquet, tightly interwoven aromas, pomaceous fruit, pear, ripe apple notes, orange note, complex, elderberries, rum pot with air, subtle honey note in the background, all in all the typical AnCnoc fruitiness in super elegant! Taste: Sweet and sour basic tone, fine melting, everything very tightly interwoven and difficult to differentiate, a lot of depth on the palate, ripe apple again, beautiful woody spice, nothing works - but everything matured in the best harmony and calm, medium-sized. to long aftertaste with perfect wood-fruit balance, Color: lightening copper gold, narrow WR, clear Conclusion: fine and "old fashioned", never loud - but always differentiated, pleasantly clear in the barrel construction and unvarnished in appearance, unfortunately probably in an increasingly rare category on the way - both in terms of style and PLV ...

Color: Amber Nose: Lovely! I'm not sure where anyone is getting that this is a big sherry whisky. While it's indubitably there to a degree, this is far from a bomb in the sense that the cask is dominating the spirit and it's heavy on dried fruit, savory notes, and everything else you expect when people speak in those terms. Instead, you get some of syrupy peach notes that often come from middle-age and refill wood on a good spirit. This also hits the mark of smelling mature while not having any trace at all of over-oaking. This is subtle but enticing. Mouth: The good times roll. Again, it's heavier on fresh fruit than dried on my palate, just like it was on the nose. It's well-balanced and possesses a lovely mouthfeel. The 46% strength makes this a rather quaffable dram, as well--just pour, nose, and go. There's nothing that necessarily leaps out at you, but everything feels solid and well-constructed. Finish: Medium, light, and refreshing. Comments: This is increasingly a unicorn in scotch today: a standard range official bottling with both age and quality that's affordably priced. It's hard to separate some of those positive feelings from the pure technical merits of the whisky when reviewing it. Nonetheless, it's an instantly likable malt that checks a lot of boxes. That's good enough in almost any circumstance.

Jam, dark fruit, spices

Red fruit, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, leather, honey, citrus, nutmeg, nicely balanced but also expressive.
