A nice peat/sherry combo. Previous Smokeheads I've tried I've found a bit underwhelming, this was quite nice and my favourit so far. Thanks to ronnholt for the sample.

Peaty. Islay peaty. Rubber, salt, mineral. Then sweet, metalic, dark fruits with a little minty twist. Some young vibrant wood, it's clean and fresh. From a distance it reminds me of a nice and rich Bordeaux. Very well integrated alc. Doesn't feel like 48% |

Very much in line with what you would expect from the nose. Of course it's peaty, but the sweetness is making it more mellow. Again, pretty rubbery and salty. Lots of dry sherry. Noticable but slow and controlled spice building up. |

The nose is an instant blast of peat through the nose. After you get passed that there are some wonderful fruity flavours comming trough. Barbeque marinaded meat, creamy custard and vanilla tones ... rahter surprising for a sherry bomb. |

Lots of peat but again a lot of fruityness ... thinking of roasted bananas on the bbq. A quite pily and waxy mouthfeel. Wonderfull combination of sweet smoke and fruity notes |

A lovely long smokey finish, some tobacco and again the roasted bananas linger long after the initial savouring. |
A shallow but delicious whisky that combines fresh berry wine tones and rough young peppery and smoky tones.

Aroma: Fruity juicy, also sour, smoky, red apples, oranges. Smooth rubberiness of the Merkur kit wheels, peat and even iodine is well visible behind it. (89 pts) Taste: The taste is rich enough and full. A lot of peat, juicy fruitiness, raspberries, strawberry jam. In the long aftertaste, iodine, tar and sweet spiciness. (89 pts) Points: 89 Summary: I brought a sample from the Radebeul whisky festival. Very good, it is something between sherry and red wine finish. She was very interested.
#0550 SMOKEHEAD SHERRY BOMB BATCH #1 SINGLE MALT SCOTCH Whisky (Ian MacLeod Distillers Ltd.) 48%. ...I like this climate. This is it. This is whisky with "arachnid" (as my mother-in-law says). Everything is right here. Aromas and tastes complement each other. Sweetness and saltiness coexist together. A large dose of smoke, peat adds that "something" ". If you're tired of the sometimes bland, ordinary coasters, it's probably time to set off on a journey towards Islay. This whisky doesn't have a specific distillery on the label, but it reflects the character of the Islay distillate. The alcohol in this bottle is 48% and I think that it is just right. It does not overwhelm with its power, it is a carrier of everything we will experience. And there are many of these experiences. I am not writing that SMOKEHEAD SHERRY BOMB is a good whisky, it is a whisky that brings back memories. Which in a way imposes a narrative and dialogue. I am FOR.
Notes from a blind tasting
Really a sherry bomb With a lot of smoke but a lot of flavor
A refreshing peat bomb that offers the classic Islay character. Smoked ham, barley sugar, caramel toffee, touch of coffee. Dark fruits - plums and raisins . Most enjoyable.
Smokehead Sherry Bomb. At the Grill Aberdeen, April 2019, short review with friends following the Brewdog AGM. Juicy sherry and restrained smoke - a touch more and this would be fantastic. Very tasty regardless. (3.5/84)

A lot of yogurt & surphur off-notes, with not so overwhelming peat. Yet it's sweet and savory.

aroma: soft, smooth, smoke, peat taste: harsh, not very pronounced, smoke, peat, spices Rougher taste, a little spicy at the end, but there's not much smoke.
Nose: A very coastal, saline and youthful peatiness first jumps out the glas, followed by leathery and herbal sherry. A minty and somehow artifical, rubbery sweetness that reminds me of Kids' toothpaste. A bit weird, but hey, it works… These were definetly not some old, vintage Bodega sherry casks. Roasted cashews and salted peanuts, a few raisins, a bag of trail mix. After some time in the glas, it gets more “one”. The aromas come together and create a nice, modern sherried Islay Malt. Taste: Sturdy arrival on astringent peat and leather. Licking a flintstone on the beach (I did many weird things as a kid). A funky, nutty and slightly chemical sherry flavour flashes up before the herbal and dry peatiness takes over again. Comments: Obviously, this is young stuff. I expected that, when I ordered the bottle. But I have to say, it’s really fun to sip. Leave the pricetag aside and you get a decent, very modern take on Islay and sherry. This one shouldn’t be taken too seriously (it’s definetly NOT a sherry bomb), just crack the bottle and enjoy it with friends. This is a session malt like the younger Port Askaigs, Classic of Islay or Ileach Cask Strength for example. I like it. /86
Smokehead Sherry Balm 82 Sherry wraps the side surface with peat candy. It smells like strawberry, and it's gentle and quite attractive, but it doesn't feel like a hit.

A nice Bomb of Sherry for a really good price. It could be a daily dram when you like Sherry and smoke.
23/09/2022 88 / 100 Color: Dark copper, natural. AROMA - 22 / 25 Distinctly cherry-like with a generous amount of dried fruit and a touch of chemicality. Slightly tart, quite sweet and fresh, yet structured and harmonious. A pleasant balance between cherries, smokiness, and sherry-like notes. Very pleasant. TASTE - 21.5 / 25 Sweet and sour, quite woody, and a bit honeyed. It has salty-sweet notes similar to Kilchoman, and these are quite similar whiskies. FINISH - 22.5 / 25 The finish is warming and lingering. Notes of espresso, smoked fruit, and campfire. BALANCE - 22 / 25 Limited to 18,000 bottles. It's truly delicious, has a good finish, and is very similar to Kilchoman Sanaig, which, despite its lower alcohol content, is slightly better and is also cheaper.
Bomb is a bit over the top. But the whisky is still delicious. Nice smoky and sherry influence is also present, though not as pronounced as expected. Overall, a nice drinking whisky without too much complexity.
Indeed a Sherry Bomb! Only caveat: it promises more on the nose and tongue than the finish can deliver.
Not as smoky as Smokehead's reputation would suggest. More peat than phenol. A fair degree of sweetness from the sherry cask. Probably quite a young spirit. A good balance, not just pure peatiness. An interesting addition to the smokehead range.
spectacular.. what a big surprise. A smoke bomb, with a complex profile..smoke prunes, bbq, peat, leather, caramel, salt..wax, superb! great value for the money.
