This one is pretty good actually. Don't expect a mindblowing dram, but for a Abv of 40% this one is pretty full of aroma's and taste. And it gets even better if you give it some time.

This is almost as if you drink juice, sweet, tangerine pure, otherwise little and slightly alcoholic in the taste. Unfortunately, that is not very convincing.

Storm’s End In the very week of the release, rumor had it that this bottle – along with the Clynelish – were the hardest to find, for they were released in smaller numbers. Result: this 50 EUR bottle quickly changed hands on the secondary market for double, triple the price or more (I even saw one in auction selling for 350 EUR, go figure). Was this only meant to distract people from the fact that it is actually just the regular Royal Lochnagar 12 in Game of Thrones livery? I comfort myself with the thought that I had not yet tried the malt. Spring fresh nose on apples, candied oranges, melon and freshly cut grass. Vanilla and barley sugar. Sweet and completely devoid of spices. Fairly simple and yet… I quite like it. Oh, boy, this arrival is truly subpar. Watery almost. Next to the apples and citrus, I also get hints of pineapple, yoghurt with some pear and honey. It has some green herbs in there as well. Some plant roots. Drying oak. Late caramel. Becomes better from the second sip forward, but never blows you away. Only in the rather short finish do I get a bit of pepper. But the emphasis is on vanilla. Make that custard. Fairly simply, but pleasant enough Lochnagar, but it could have used a little more power and body.

- from my memory compared to the original Royal Lochnagar 12 years clearly better - more sherry and orange flavors - nevertheless he looks younger than 12 years and stronger than 40% - still has a certain "burn" in the character - but for 50€ much too expensive (despite nicer Packaging...)
A fruity, interesting and tidy Highland Malt! Significantly more Sherryeinfuss than the standard 12-year-old! 40.0% a little bit! The only one from the GoT series showing sherry casks!
Whisky is average for me. First of all, it is too expensive in relation to the quality. He is supposed to be 12 years old, and as if those years were not enough. Too very diluted (little%). Pros ... Perfect (I think) for women. It does not burn, intriguingly, it delicately pinches the palate and sweetens at the end. Alcohol is practically imperceptible.

Blenders Glass. Never tried anything from Royal Lochnagar. I understand that this is not the best example for dating. Flat and even. Malt for hoods and do not need to invent. Diageo probably had a simple calculation: on the hype of the series, to "hook" the young generation on a single malt, and to kick it in for bad money. You can drink, but never have fun. Our is the fury! House Baratheon is strong and fierce. After almost 300 years Robert ended the Targaryen dynasty. So why did they choose such a weak dram for this house? The nose starts okay with gentle sweet honey and fresh fruits, but on the palate it's not too good at all.

An extremely tasty whisky, which is definitely one of the better whiskys from the Game of Thrones series. With a few percent more, this bottling could be a really good whisky.
Color: golden yellow. Good, pleasant, quiet, satisfying. A perfect whisky for those approaching for the first time, but also appealing to those who know it for its royalty (the "Royal" attribute is perfect)

Decent, but forgettable. I like the balance of smoke and fruit notes, and especially the spiced pastry notes on the nose. It’s pretty thin on the palate and finish though, and though balanced, it doesn’t seem very refined. I tried this blind and guessed that it might have been the old Highland Park 15. Nose: Floral and fruity, but rich. Loads of apple pie, as well as pear, guava, candied lemon peel, and sugared strawberries. Shortbread biscuits, soft caramels, butter, blanched almonds, and my bubbie’s mandelbrot). Maybe a slight leathery note. Palate: Thin texture, slightly oily. Seems to be a low-ish ABV. Soft arrival, with honey, pastries, banana, salt, white tea, honeycomb, and sweet cooked fruits. Oak in the middle, with earthy and peppery peat smoke. Caramel fudge, blueberry tart, and waxy milk chocolate toward the back. Lighty coastal and pine-y. Finish: Medium-short, and fairly light. Bananas Foster, lemon tarts, barley sugar, maple fudge, old pencils, wet forest floor, and distant burning pine boughs.

Hopefully this will end better than the tv show. So, I’ve been hankering after some Royal Lochnagar for some time, so it seems now is the perfect time with the auction sites overflowing with cheap bottles of this ‘special edition’ to take a stab at it. Off we go... First off, I have to say I love the packaging. The printing and paper choices are excellent and the tube is a lovely thing. On the nose, it smells old, musty, cardboard, mace, mustard seed, stewed vegetables, black pepper, it’s quite a savoury affair where everything verges toward a wet and woody shed of a dram. I have to admit, this is not setting my world on fire. There’s a wee bit of banana bread in there to give a hope of sweetness but it’s wrapped up in an old wet canvas bag. Porridge and malt too. Some toast and angel delight toffee, barley sugar and stale Madeira cake. Hopefully this is an ugly duckling. (Coming back to the nose on one that has stood for a while and the sweetness replaces some of the damp mustiness) In the mouth and things pick up immediately! Malty, woody, orange oil, some wood spice and ginger, there’s satsuma skins and a slightly bitter note too, watered down pineapple syrup. There’s a varnish kind of tang in there, maybe a solvent based paint note. It’s quite warming too, no rough edges, it’s peppery without it becoming hot but there’s a nagging feeling that it’s so desperate to do more than it is. It feels very constrained and, not so much watered down (it does feel it) as hamstrung somehow. I get the feeling that some of the flavours that are milling about, dawdling on the palate would be served better with an alcoholic kick up the backside with an abv of 43-46%. You can taste the potential. It’s there, just out of reach. It’s a bit annoying. So, overall, if you can pick it up for £35 it’s worth it just to try. If you’ve had some of the bottles from the 70’s and 80’s it’s likely to be a disappointing endeavour - they are supposed to be excellent. If you’ve got it at cask strength I’m assuming you have the director’s cut as opposed this straight to DVD effort. So, not bad overall, a good, affordable introduction to RL that, just like the GoT on tv could and should have been better.
Aged in bourbon barrels, perhaps decorated with sherry ... I would like to find the composition of the barrels. Compared with Dalwinnie from this series, it seemed a little more pleasant and rich in aroma, and softer in taste. But in general, what can I say, the basic faceless single malt, which takes, of course, because it is part of the HBO collection - Game of the Thrones. Let's just say an affordable collection for many. For fans of the series and single malt, it will be cool to hold such a tube / bottle in their hands. One of these days I'll try another Kleinelish, from this series, we'll see.

Unusual, but authentic for the distillery character. Here, a normal 12 YO Royal Lochnagar has been slightly modified for the GoT series. The price has been kept to a minimum, nothing special, but nothing objectionable either.

My recommendation for beginners. Insanely good value for money. Easy to access. Easy drinking, no corners or knowledge. At “only” 40% it is quite soft and the finish is very short. He does not set highlights. But from my point of view it should also be a whisky for beginners. And you have to cut back on the price. Nevertheless, a clear purchase recommendation!

Finish: Medium. Warm with waves of malt and vanilla. Overall Score: 82. I very much enjoyed this. It has a very rich and full body. Excellent layers of flavor and a very soothing mouthfeel. Highland was the right regional choice for Baratheon. It’s towards the top of my favorites of the GoT series.

Lochnagar right. Careful, especially at the beginning. Earthy and some wet notes. A bit musty on the nose. Medium long finish. No long legs.
The Royal lochnagar ... The now 3rd whisky I drink in this series. I have to say, I haven't done a lot of tastings yet and my taste palette is growing, but I am of the opinion. It may start now. After the singleton and dalwhinnie I smell sweet scents again, before I smelled some pear, but now more towards apple. In terms of taste, it has a soft taste and compared to the other 2 I do not immediately find caramel, but the flavors disappear quickly. very soft aftertaste. nothing special to report, little honey in the distance.
