It's nothing exciting, just a good bourbon, certainly drinkable. Sweet, some spice, rye, wood, syrup.

It's Booker's so what would you except but the most bourbon of all bourbons? I've rated several of these 2010s bottlings with slight variations in their age, and they're all so close to each other that the 84-85 point mark seems on the money for the whole lot. What you get is lots of dry young oak and corn, and with water some vanilla and that slightly perfume-like note from the virgin oak casks. It's loud, it's proud, and it's shameless, so quintessentially American and just the thing you could use a glass of next to some well made pork brisket.

"A Wealthy Man’s Rare Breed" While it doesn’t offer any unexpected twists, its adherence to the fundamentals and sheer intensity provide immense satisfaction. The message “Master the basics first!” comes through convincingly. A solid pour that showcases the essence of bourbon at its finest.
Нос 87 N) Vanilla, Caramel, Maple Syrup, Peanut "Sticking to the Basics" A textbook example of a classic bourbon. The quintessential bourbon notes—vanilla, caramel, maple syrup, and peanut—are bold and unmistakable. It feels as though they’ve perfected the core elements of what defines a bourbon.
Вкус 88 P) Peanut, Caramel, Vanilla, Oak, Mint "All-In on Peanut and Caramel" As expected, the palate is dominated by intense notes of vanilla, caramel, and peanut. The spiciness from the rye influence is slightly more pronounced, while cherry or banana notes are noticeably absent. This straightforward approach, emphasizing only the basics, is quite impressive. It feels like an upgraded version of Wild Turkey Rare Breed.
Финиш 86 F) Woody, Peanut, Mint, Vanilla The finish highlights oakiness, followed by peanut, mint, and vanilla in that order. The consistency across the nose, palate, and finish is noteworthy.

I was a little overwhelmed when I tried it for the first time, but the Booker's is a great bourbon, a complex, sweet and at the same time masculine force of nature in the glass... and there it was: My WOW effect, I was really excited.

Bookers True Barrel Bourbon Batch 2021-01E 62.7%. 30ml sample Jan 2022. Dark amber, bordering a brown shade of orange. Aroma is initially closed. Orange. Pistachio. Someone ordered the pistachio icecream with a scoop of orange sorbet, but they’ve wandered off. Hint of black pepper. Burnt paper. Tomato pastry. This is a totally different profile to the last Bookers I tried. Taste is big, brings the cheeks in, very nutty, skin-on hazelnuts bring a dryness to the sweeter caramelised peanuts, becoming salty. Not really connected to the aroma. There's no heat or burn on the palate, which is very impressive at the abv. I just tried a 45% whiskey that was twice as rough as this. The palate is pretty enjoyable and makes up a bit for the closed aroma. It’s not very complex though. You get the nuts and the refined spirit, leading to some salt and chilli. It doesn’t move from there though. 3.475/83 With a little splash of water the aroma opens up a bit. Just a bit. Spiritous but hints of orange and red skin peanut. Taste is again peanuts, breathy char, has become quite a refined easy drinker closer to standard Jim Beam. Again, this is tasty. There's nothing wrong with this. Solid bourbon. This experience in isolation wouldn’t inspire me to buy a bottle but then I have had better experiences with other batches and I’ve seen this available for £62, so...

Нос 87 Nose: Brown sugar, raw peanuts, citrus, light acetone, light cherry At first sniff, a sweet aroma and raw peanut scent are most prominent. This is followed by a citrus note, reminiscent of orange. Despite the high proof, there is minimal sharpness on the nose. Both the acetone and cherry notes are the mildest I've encountered among bourbons.
Вкус 86 Palate: Brown sugar, wood, nutty dryness, grass, alcohol, high-cacao dark chocolate, citrus Flavors of wood and grassy bitterness, along with a nutty dryness, are much stronger than expected from the nose. The intense bitterness and dryness were surprising at first, creating an unexpected contrast to the initial aroma. With an ABV of over 62%, the alcohol hit is quite strong, amplifying the bitterness. After a few more sips, the palate adjusts, allowing the sweetness of brown sugar and the bright citrus notes to bring a bit of balance. However, the grassy and dry notes remained quite dominant throughout the tasting experience.
Финиш 86 Finish: Nuts, grass, oak, dark chocolate As the finish develops, the bitterness of nuts, grass, and oak lingers for a long time. Unlike many bourbons that typically end on a sweet, vanilla-based note, the 21-01 batch delivers a heavy and dry conclusion. The dark chocolate adds a slightly bitter and rich undertone, enhancing the overall depth of the finish.

Booker’s 2021-01e is a classic bourbon with no major flaws, delivering a robust, balanced experience. While it excels in the basics, it lacks a standout element that would elevate it beyond being a solid, traditional bourbon. Perfect for those who appreciate a straightforward, no-nonsense bourbon, but it may not offer the extra layer of complexity some might seek.
Нос 87 Top notes: Caramel, raw peanuts, wooden furniture, vanilla Base notes: Maraschino cherry, orange, acetone Hints: Rye, plum
Вкус 85 Top notes: Acetone, orange, caramel Base notes: Burnt wood, rye, bitter wood root Hints: Peanut skin, red apple, licorice
Финиш 84 Palette Top notes: Burnt wood, orange, burnt sugar Base notes: Acetone, bitter wood root Nose Top notes: Cinnamon, burnt wood Base notes: Red apple, licorice

A really nice bourbon, but quite hot - definitely needs some water to tame it a bit and allow the flavours hidden to express themselves. Not a massive nose but definitely a palate flavour explosion, with a medium finish. A good cask strength bourbon, well worth getting!

It's delicious. It's a whiskey that vaguely shows the image of how high you can go if you squeeze the barrel and increase the weight class. If you simply increase the weight class, there is a concern that the bad taste and impression will also increase, but Booker's feels like it has stably removed the flaws or flaws in the taste. Of course, it is regrettable in terms of elegance or delicacy. It is an impression that is difficult to keep up with by only increasing the weight class, and it may feel a bit forced to expect that from Booker's. There are often people who evaluate Booker's as Lucky Lucky Jim Beam, but perhaps they are expressing regret for this liquor that has only increased the weight class without reaching a higher level. Of course, increasing the weight class is also very difficult, and there is no doubt that it is a well-made liquor.
Нос 88 The overwhelming power and intense aromas are released. Starting from a cold temperature, an overwhelming nutty aroma is felt, including peanuts and almonds. The sweet aroma of corn and vanilla is also quite strong, but it is not enough to break the nuts. When I cupped the glass with my hand to raise the temperature, the typical flavors of bourbon whiskey came to life. The pleasant harmony of corn and cherry gives a refreshing and sweet impression. A little woody, but it cannot overcome the savory and sweet aroma.
Вкус 90 Since I tasted it after raising the temperature to some extent, the nutty flavor was slightly reduced. The vanilla, grains, nuts, and the refreshing cherry filling in between come in a fairly balanced manner. A vague slipperiness, oil, or waxy feeling remains. The bitter and astringent taste is felt to be medium or higher intensity, which strengthens the color of the wood, and also a hint of bitter herbs that was not felt in the scent is slightly felt. As time passes, the sweet flavor gradually increases and the savory flavor decreases.
Финиш 86 The tingling sensation from the high alcohol content vibrates throughout the mouth. The sweet flavors of vanilla and corn felt on the palette continue on the exhalation. The bitter and astringent taste of grass and wood remains on the tongue with a tingling sensation even after several minutes.

This one is very special. I personally think it is the sweetest batch among bookers in recent years. Most people on the distiller think so too. The high alcohol content does not make people feel smooth. I think any Can bourbon lovers refuse such a strong and sweet, yet so approachable heroine? "Color" It's still Bux's usual jujube color, just like OL's bright but not too eye-catching dark lipstick "Smells" Pour it out and wake up for 20 minutes, the whole room is full of sweet and pleasant smell, just like she walked in your room, there is fragrance everywhere. "Taste" I have to say that besides the sweet popcorn flavor, there is also some peanut butter flavor, but [no alcohol], I don’t know why, you are obviously a strong woman at 62.5, but when you approach you, you are so kind A trace of airs "Aftertaste" Many bourbons have a wooden barrel flavor, but this one really doesn't have a mouthful of strong sweetness, and the wine still stays after the wine is over, which is endless aftertaste
