Классический спейсайдский профиль на бурбоне — ваниль, мёд, экзотические фрукты (ананас, банан), деликатный дуб; отличное соотношение цены и качества, но при 43% и 20 годах многим кажется водянистым, дубовым и слабым в послевкусии.

В аромате преобладают ваниль, мёд и спелые экзотические фрукты — ананас, папайя, банан, яблоко, — дополненные орехами, смолистой сосновой древесиной и лёгкими хересными пряностями; нос почти все хвалят как плотный, элегантный и полностью лишённый спиртуозности. Вкус мягкий, маслянисто-кремовый вначале, затем пряно-сладкий с орехами, ванилью и умеренной перечной остротой; послевкивие среднее либо короткое, слегка горьковатое, с нотами дуба, кофе и тёмного шоколада. Хвалят зрелость, сбалансированность и выдающееся соотношение цены и качества, критикуют водянистость и чрезмерную дубовость, слабое послевкусие и нехватку крепости. Опытные ревьюеры держатся кучно и в целом выше — преимущественно 84–88, с замечанием, что для 20 лет виски слегка худосочен и не до конца зрелый, но с приятным вкусом. Остальные оценки разбросаны шире (от 76 до 90): часть отмечает потерю характера и монолитную дубовость с зелёными яблоками и древесиной, отдельные образцы дают подпорченный херес и переспелые фрукты, возможно из-за дефектной пробки. Согласие есть в главном: добротный, честный, лёгкий и питкий виски за свои деньги, но не выдающийся, ограниченный низкой крепостью.

Slightly thin and immatured at age 20. But nice tastes. 84/85.
Нос 85 Sherry, spicy oak, dried fruits and honey.
Вкус 85 Citruses, vanilla, spicy oak, caramel and cocoa. Dried fruits.
Финиш 84 Medium length, bittersweet, spicy.

Nose: Green wood, white grapes, green apples. Nose quite fresh, but also quite woody. Vanilla apple after aeration. Palate: Very wise, almost watery. Very woody, drying. From the apple to the water. Final: Short. Peppered pepper on swallowing, and a little wood and apple. Verdict: Very monolithic, and also quite disappointing I must confess. Soft on the palate and very woody. Beuh.

For this price and age, the PLV is ideal. And if you still value good whisky craft, you have to try it. You can't go wrong here. Note: No sherry wonder and a little too little% te.

Exciting nose, very mild and easily accessible due to the low alcohol content. a balanced whisky with a great PLV - 02/21/2020

Exciting nose with great contrasting aromas that the palate and the finish can not quite hold. But PLV speaks for itself. Otherwise great malt.
Нос 87 Exciting nose, vanilla, fruit, sweetness. Discreetly I think to notice Rauch, but it's something else. Nutty aromas with exotic fruits such as pineapple and mango come through. Rounded off by slightly woody, resinous notes. Nice combination and quite differentiable.
Вкус 85 Oily, creamy beginning, then it gets a bit spicier and sweeter with more vanilla, here too more fruity and exotic, subtle peppery spiciness, slightly roasted nuts / almonds, which bring a slight bitterness,
Финиш 84 Medium-long finish, it remains spicy and spicy, slightly bitter espresso notes and the nut flavors.

Nose: sherry spices. A bit meaty. Very nice. Taste: first a bit dry, with some nuts. Then some sweetness. Lighter than the nose suggests. Finish: warm spices, some pepper and some sweetness. Nice dram, but not a sherry bomb. Could do with some more abv.

Mixture of Bourbon & Sherry casks. A pleasant quality with no false notes, but not exciting ... I found the following information: Gold Medal ISC 2005, Silver Medal IWSC 2006. The 20 year old was made up in 2006 with 40% 20 year old whisky, 10% pitched 21 year old whisky and 50% with 23 year old whisky from first fill bourbon casks.

somewhat rotten sherry and overripe fruits like brown bananas and fermenting pineapple which you wouldn´t want to eat anymore. Hint of dusty smoke which may be from the cask not from the malt. Some bitter sweetness and dusty oak in the finish. Sounds awful but it is not so bad. I´d prefer the 16yo, but these are 2 completely different styles. This one ressembles more an extreme dark sherried single cask than an equilibrated OB. addendum: not so shure if my "false" notes were caused by an defective cork of the bottle which had an unusual soft/aerie consistence.

mature and lovely nose, classical speyside profile, suggary and creamy, ripe banane, overripe apples, not much (red)fruit in the backround propably due todominant bourbon casks initial taste is a bit flat and watery but it develops and repeats the song of the nose (adding some nuttiness), although not as nice/perfect as the nose was finish is solid and of medium length, good length for 43%. touch of oak, honeylike aftertaste. first sips are pushing forward to another glass because its tasty and doenst challenge you too much a ladys drink and i dont mean that in a bad way. excellent price as it was offered for around 65€. still not too expensive at 80€ compared to the prices of other 20yo bottlings.

A wonderfully light, fruity and elegant whisky. 20 years, OA and under 100 euros. Almost cheap for now ...
Нос 88 There is no noticeable alcohol at all. Vanilla, apple, pineapple, banana ... A beautiful fruit cocktail that doesn't look artificial. Wonderfully elegant and round. A flatterer.
Вкус 87 Sweet fruits and vanilla here too. The flow of saliva is clearly stimulated. As a counterpoint, a fine mild pepper on the tongue. The whisky fills the mouth with a great nutty-fruity taste with the pleasant tingle on the tongue.
Финиш 85 The finish is at most medium long, because you can keep the drop in your mouth for a long time. It then goes with the taste of dark chocolate with a rather low cocoa content.

Very tasty, fruity ex-bourbon barrel matured malt that is not missing until the finish. Really tasty!
Нос 90 Very dense nose. You could almost cut it. Zero alcohol. A lot of malt, sweet and some grain. Including a minimal trace of solvent. But so subtle that it makes the malt more interesting. After just a few minutes, a whole basket of exotic fruits comes into play. No lemon or grapefruit but fully ripe juicy papaya and pineapple. Very nice. At the end there is still fresh wood in the air. Still wet and green. Mhmmm
Вкус 87 Very soft and dignified to begin with. Sure - at 43% and 20 years. But I'm not missing a bit. Very full and creamy on the tongue. The fruit component always resonates, but takes a back seat to nuts and fresh wood. A slight tingling sensation on the tongue heralds the next wave of fruit. But this time it is actually very lemon and sour. Has something like crystalline ascorbic acid. The wood is subtle but always there. Delicious! But back behind the nose
Финиш 85 The finish is unfortunately a bit weak for my taste. Not necessarily short, but nothing new except a slight bitterness. This is also where alcohol comes through for the first time. Don't get me wrong. The finish is not bad but nothing special either.
