Классический хересный Macallan — сухофрукты, херес, дуб, орехи, мягкая пряность; сделан добротно, но опытные ревьюеры считают его тонковатым, простым и с коротким послевкусием, а цену — абсурдной; рядовые оценивают заметно теплее.

В аромате преобладают изюм, сушёные фрукты (инжир, апельсин, абрикос), выдержанное дерево, кожа, орехи, тоффи и лёгкая пряность (корица, гвоздика, мускат) с фруктовыми и цветочными оттенками. Во вкусе продолжаются сухофрукты, апельсин, шоколад, кофе, орехи, мёд и интегрированная пряность, местами с перечной остринкой; послевкусие среднее — сухофрукты, какао, жареные орехи, табак, у некоторых с резким спиртовым всплеском в конце, что связывают со слабой сбалансированностью. Хвалят цвет, маслянистость, округлость и благородный хересный характер, критикуют тонкость тела, недостаток сложности и молодоватость для заявленных 18 лет. Расхождение проходит по линии опыта и цены: наиболее авторитетные ревьюеры ставят 82–87 и называют напиток скучноватым, сухим в современном хересном стиле и не оправдывающим цену, советуя купить вместо него Glendronach 18 или Glengoyne 21. Рядовые авторы щедрее — 88–91, отмечая гармонию, элегантность и питкость «взрослого» виски, хотя и они почти единодушно называют цену смехотворной. В сумме профиль согласован, разброс оценок умеренный (82–91), а несогласие касается не характера напитка, а того, стоит ли он своих денег.

Quite drinkable but indeed nothing special - get multiple bottles of a more exciting whisky for the same price instead

Quite a boring whisky, it’s not bad but the price is ridiculous. Not very complex, ok sherry, feels youngish and thin with a short finish

I loved the 2018 and 2019, both of which got 91 points from me. Now this one, which looks great in terms of color. Almost dark brown, a mahogany. Thick, oily streaks on the glass ... A typical Macallan for me. That intense sherry nose, old wood, leather. Everything harmonious, by no means overwhelming, noble. In terms of taste on the same line, maybe a touch more barrel, less sherry. No missing notes, it stays round and tasty. Of course, 300+ euros for such a bottle is already a word. And yet I'm happy to try it again ...

A dram for adults. On the one hand because of the price, but also in the nose you immediately notice what you have in front of you. 86-90 – Wow, really good one, need a bottle
Нос 89 Very round and aged gracefully. Very pleasant wood aromas, very light apple. Slightly nutty.
Вкус 88 This continues in the mouth.
Финиш 86 Pleasant finish, but without standing out.

Overall, a very tasty and drinkable whisky despite the price. But nothing special and a bit thin. And considering the price, which I can no longer ignore in this case, it's unfortunately a disappointment - the sample is enough for me. You can get it much cheaper and better elsewhere, for example a Glengoyne 21y or Glendronach 18y for a fraction of the price is clearly ahead in all respects.

Head to head with the 18yo double cask which has way better balance than this. 18 years of maturation and still no proper integration here... dissapointing. The price performance ratio is downright laughable.
Нос 86 Dried fruits, raisins, fig, overripe peach, orange and lemon, sour cherry, blueberry, chocolate, roasted nuts, soft leather, ginger, nutmeg and clove.
Вкус 84 Dried fruit, apricot, raisin, fig, cherry, lemon, honey, some leather polish, dark chocolate, coffee bitters, bitter nuts, clove and very clear (black) pepper. I would even call this a little hot (at only 43%).
Финиш 81 Medium: some honey, dried fruits, cherry, roasted walnuts, cocoa, coffee and a sudden rush of peppery hot alcohol at the tail end (must be poor integration).

A well made dram, with a lovely soft spiciness and well integrated sherry notes. This is the expression I enjoyed the most in an extensive lineup of age stated Macallans (12 Triple, Double & Sherry Cask, 15 Triple and Double Cask, 18 Double & Sherry Cask) I tried in one session. Still, it lacks the power to really impress. Pricewise, this whisky is a complete joke of course.
Нос 86 A bit shy at first, but develops nicely. Raisins, praliné chocolate and coffee. Has a ligher side too; it's a bit floral and some fruits are to be discovered. A tiny bit of smoke?
Вкус 88 Well integrated spices, oranges, chocolate, vanilla and a sweet floral side. Develops well in the mouth and no offnotes to be found.
Финиш 87 Soft spices again, with juicy citrus fruits, praliné and vanilla. Subtle tannins develop, which give it a bit more weight. A hint of smoke returns.
