Прибрежный, солёно-йодистый Bowmore с тропическими фруктами и мягким дымом на аккуратно интегрированном хересе; опытные хвалят морской характер и баланс, но многие отмечают слабоватую вкусовую часть и завышенную цену.

В аромате доминируют морская соль, йод, влажная галька и прибрежный дым, поверх которых ложатся мёд, тропические фрукты (манго, ананас, дыня), цитрусы, перец и травы, а херес держится ненавязчиво в глубине; нос почти единодушно называют сильнейшей стороной. Во вкусе — маслянистая, сливочная текстура, солёная сладость, мёд, спелые фрукты и перец, но здесь чаще проявляются придирки: у части дегустаторов дерево и травянисто-крапивные ноты давят слишком сильно, создавая горечь и дисбаланс, а сам напиток бывает заметно спиртуозным и раскрывается только с водой. Послевкусие среднее по длине, пепельно-солёное, с йодом и сухофруктами. Опытные ставят в основном 88–91, ценя морской профиль и «купольный» дым, аккуратно обволакивающий фруктовость, и отдельно отмечают удачно неактивную хересную бочку для 25-летней выдержки; крайние оценки (86 из-за доминирующих травяных нот и восторженные 97) единичны. Менее опытные держатся того же диапазона 87–93, но их претензии конкретнее и практичнее: нос обещает больше, чем отдаёт вкус и послевкусие, не хватает сложности и глубины для более высокой оценки, а цена явно завышена. Расхождение невелико — обе группы сходятся, что это добротный, солёно-дымный Bowmore с сильным носом и слегка недотягивающим, горьковатым к финалу вкусом.

Very maritime and coastal Bowmore - pretty good!

Coastal smoke, signature Bowmore "sea" peat with fruity citrus notes, cold wet pebbles, salt, spices. The nose is his strong point. The taste is quite fatty, sweet, fruit and honey, pepper, wine acidity and oak. The finish is sharp, but not very long. With water, the iodine is more rounded, more noticeable, but it loses its more acidic notes in taste. 22.5-22-21.5-22

Nice interplay between the barrel and Bowmore. In the end not quite my Bowmore as herbal notes dominate. Generally good, but not my preferred. At the 4th sip a little more fruit. 2. Dran much more interesting on the nose. Mild fruit, some herbs, Bowmore peat in the background. The harmonious. More like nettle tea in the mouth. Hm. Also in the exit. 86-90 – Wow, really good one, need a bottle

Good modern-style sherried peat juice. Very peaty (ashy, maritime, medicinal), somewhat fruity, some honey and pepper. Not really my preference but it's nice.
Нос 88 Plum, nectarine, and mandarins, plus subtle mango jam. It's ashy, smoky, and maritime. Seasalt, tarred ropes, and iodine, with salted toffee and honey. Tobacco and a sort of doughy note.
Вкус 88 Prunes, mandarins, orange peel, and then a big ashy peatiness. Mossy peat and iodine as well - peatier than the nose let on. It's still maritime, but less fruity now. Peppery with flecks of marzipan.
Финиш 87 Very ashy, some iodine, brine, salted honey, turf smoke, medical plasters. Some pepper and citrus. The fruits are slightly muted now, but there are dried fruits. With water they become slightly more exotic, but are quickly overshadowed by the peat. Medium length.

I'm very pleasantly surprised, at least not disappointed, with this BR, although expectations are always high for a 25 year old cask strength Bowmore. The sherry cask wasn't particularly active, but I think that's good for the whisky. But you won't find a lot of sherry here and you might be disappointed. I like the good balance of distillate, cask influence and wood. For more than 91-92 percent, however, the complexity and depth are missing.
Нос 92 91.5 The nose is really great. Lots of character from the distillate, Bowmore aromas of maritime salt, some herbs, subtle and soft smoke, ripe sweetness, light and ripe fruits, the sherry is rather subtle in the background. Luckily, the barrel was no longer as active, which is often an advantage given the 25-year aging period. But you can still see the sherry in the background, light berries and cardamom.
Вкус 91 The palate goes more into the right herbs, then sweetness, then the distillate with ripe barley sugar and only at the back the slightly bitter notes from the barrel and the age. The smoke is also quite subtle and that's great here as some Islays are quickly dominated by the dry smoke. Maritime salt. Not all that intense and a bit too bitter at the end, but overall the whisky is still very balanced.
Финиш 91 The mouthfeel is very pleasant and oily. It gets a bit bitter at the end, but there are still salty aromas and sweetness in the finish. The finish is almost long.

Нос 91 On the nose a classic fragrance of gentle peat, herbs, forest honey and a hint of Hebridean sea spray - absolutely promising!
Вкус 91 . On the palate that beloved heather flavour, manuka honey, buttercookies, Sherry sweetness, scallops in caramalized onion gravy, nori leaves all lightly coated in gentle peat.
Финиш 90 The finish lingers with a beautiful balance of subtle peat smoke, heather herbs, milk chocolate, classic Bowmore freshness, roasted almonds and Bavarian creme. Close to perfection.

Нос 91 Nice typical nose. Unfortunately not particularly complex and also alcoholic. Just before I had the Bowmore Darkest 15y from 2017 in my glass, I liked it better from the nosing point of view. Let's see what the button gives.....
Вкус 91 Proper and intense start. Bowmore typical herbs and a nice maltiness. The second nosing after the first sip, the malt smells even better and has very intense lavender notes. Unfortunately still extremely alcoholic. Alcohol is also very present in the Taste. I'll try a few drops of water...
Финиш 90 Ahaaaaaaaaaa, with water it definitely gets better in terms of nosing and taste. Totally on the part. Round, sweet, oily cool! Lavender honey and Dutch caramel waffles meet.

a very good whisky that falls a bit short due to the fact that the wood pushes a tad too strongly on the palate, creating an imbalance with the otherwise impeccable sherry-peat interplay.. .. very salty and very difficult to judge it objectively, since i am thoroughly enjoying my 10 cl sample, but i would hesitate at buying a bottle.. especially for the price called. 88-89 points tonight. I even experimented with blending it with an equal part Lagavulin DE to make it more oily and less spicy and increase the sweetness level.. can’t say it was bad!

Tasted from a Glencairn glass. Tasted neat, without water! This Bowmore is one of the best I've had so far. Elegant, yet somehow rugged like the sea.
Нос 88 The nose immediately presents a very subtle smoky note, followed by caramel, nougat chocolate, very ripe pineapple, green banana, roasted aromas, and honey. The alcohol is superbly integrated.
Вкус 90 On the palate, caramel, nougat, and grilled pineapple immediately take center stage, followed by grilled banana (though not quite ripe), honey, and roasted notes. A hint of sea breeze with salt and seaweed also lingers. The alcohol is superbly integrated.
Финиш 89 The finish is medium-long. Towards the end, there's that fresh sea breeze again with salty notes and seaweed, followed by nougat and roasted aromas.

This was incredibly good. It had similar elements to the 1997 Bowmore from Infrequent Flyers, with an added touch of more intense, chemical-like fruitiness.

A normal Bowmore 1997. The flavor is definitely not up to the OBs for Bowmore during 1995-1997 though.

Tried at a tasting among friends. Nose: first unexpectedly clear smoke after 25 years, floral sweetness and malt sugar in harmony with light berry aroma. Mouth: develops wonderfully from sweet to herbal and finally maritime. Lightly pronounced fruit alongside dry smoke that doesn't overwhelm anything. Finish: decided age, oak and sparkling minerality. Let me just adjust the rating - 92 points, not 91!
