Nice irish whiskey in a good ABV.
The Bushmills 1608 remains a top dram in my book. Thanks, Pat!

Mild, soft, nutty, but somehow a bit boring. Although slightly better than the normal 10, but definitely 2 notes worse than the 16er.
- a mature and well composed Irish blend - Due to the high malt content (90%) you would not get up tap a blend - Special edition (with high circulation) - The 46% is clearly noticeable in comparison to the usual "light" 40% - good successful special edition
A great blended Irish whiskey in a beautiful, noble packaging.
On this one we can really feel the influence of the sherry, to the detriment of the balance. There is this sensation of "added sugar" a little throughout.

A nose of candied fruit, rather well candied. Grape, plum, red cherry, red fruit paste, caramel. It's sweet, mild, a little sour. |

In the mouth, the caramel comes out first, a little too much. Then macerated fruit. Raisin, date, prune. It's really soft. |

Finish on date, prune, but without much balance. It's too sweet, it sticks. |
A special bottling to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the license to distil aqua vitae in Antrim originally granted in 1608 to Sir Thomas Phillips. Bushmills 1608 has already won `Best Irish Blended Whiskey (No Age Statement)` at the World Whiskies Awards 2008.
Created to celebrate the four hundredth year of operation of the distillery. A blended with an exceptionally high malt content: 90%. Bottled at 46 ° because its robust body must be accompanied by a greater structure. Distilled three times and aged in oak barrels, it is not filtered cold to retain its aromatic characteristics. The Cristall Malt gives the final product the subtlety and softness that makes it unique.

Notes of berries, fruits, sherry and floral notes. In addition, earthy notes, a little vanilla and a slight hint of smoke. A fruity and long finish.
Slight bitter finish. The grain is palpable.

The aroma spoke to baking preparations in grandmother’s kitchen; a wooden spice chest unpacked with cinnamon, nutmeg, and whole cloves spilling across a well-seasoned cutting board. Hints of wood polish interjected between woody apricot pits and slightly astringent dried persimmons. A bag of ground pecans and toasted coconut paired with hazelnuts and salted caramel. Medium-bodied with a lovely oily quality, the flavor profile presented dry baking spices, macerated coconut, and plenty of oak. Molasses and brown sugar collided with hazelnut to produce decadent sticky desserts on the palate. Salted caramel lingered at the end with hints of ripe plums and apricot. The finish was medium-length and slightly drying with oak, brown sugar, and stone fruit pits. I have reviewed very few Bushmills over the years, so I do not have a strong point of comparison for this whiskey; this reminded me a lot of the more mature Midleton I have tried. I got some of the expected fruit, but not in the quantity or intensity I hoped to find. Oak seemed to dominate proceedings, and the mildly malty spirit appeared submissive against an overriding oaky flavor profile. Overall, not a bad whiskey, but not one that stood out and screamed, “400th Anniversary!” According to internet sources, the bottle retailed initially for about 100 USD which seems reasonable. However, it looks like prices have increased significantly since 2008 and that multiple editions were released.
This is a powerful whiskey at over 90 proof. Loads of vanilla and tons of honey and malt. This is a wonderful after dinner drink to continue the fire going at any dinner party or evening out with the girls who enjoy real whiskey.
