Хересный BenRiach 1994 с неожиданно «грязным», торфяно-дымным характером и нотами соуса барбекю. Большинство хвалит за сложность и контраст, но опытные ревьюеры сдержаннее, отмечая чрезмерную «грязь».

В аромате — дерево, кожа, тёмный мёд, табак, травы и орехи поверх тёмного, слегка сернистого хереса; многие ловят зольный, землистый торф, жжёный сахар, красные ягоды, сушёный чёрный виноград и отчётливый соус барбекю с чёрным и белым перцем. Вкус маслянистый и кремовый, с шоколадом, перцем, пряностями, землёй и торфом, солёной карамелью и горчинкой, переходящей в сладкую золу; послевкусие у одних долгое, землистое и торфяное, у других — коротковатое и слишком сухое. Хвалят прежде всего сложность, зрелость и мощь без перебора, а также необычный контраст дымно-жирного и тёмного хереса; отдельно выделяют выдающийся, почти самостоятельный аромат. Главное расхождение — в «грязи»: рядовые оценщики воспринимают её как азарт и изюминку (виски вслепую путают с Ledaig, Port Charlotte, Bowmore или Talisker), тогда как самый авторитетный автор считает её чрезмерной и снижающей питкость. Это отражается и в баллах: опытная четверть держится в диапазоне 83–87, а остальные ставят преимущественно 88–91. При общем согласии насчёт профиля (херес плюс торфяно-зольная дымность и барбекю) итоговый вердикт двоится — от «слишком грязно» до «необычно и очень вкусно».

great combination of bitter notes, fruity sweetness and great tobacco notes. Exciting, a bit cumbersome, but delicious.

One of the best noses I had I would probably give it 93 points just on the nose. Incredible complex and I could sniff it forever. The taste is very good but cannot keep the nose but still probably like 91 points so still a killer. I simply like these sherry smoke monsters and this has this salty caramel taste which I also love on ice cream. The finish is short and unfortunately too dry for me. It is not killing the dram but if the casks would have been turned into bottles 1 year earlier (don't know how long the Sherry finish took) it would have been better! Still a good 89 points!

A very fun whisky for those who love barbecue sauce.
Нос 89 A little sriracha sauce, a nice dose of barbecue sauce, white and black pepper. Ashy peat, generous. Easy, fun.
Вкус 87 On the palate, still a beautiful ashy peat, simple and effective. Barbecue sauce, we're into the fun.

A really interesting and extraordinary drop! The smoky and greasy elements are a wonderful contrast to the dark and sulphurous sherry flavors. Unusual and extremely tasty, I like it very much!

BLINDTASTING TWS: Blind with smoke Tip: I find this whisky very complex. In particular, the finish I like very well. I can not tell you a lot of smoke, but we've had that before and my taste buds and my perception are maybe below average. Marko has shared a few old Bowmore in cask strength (Möwendingsbumms). He reminds me a little of these bottlings, although I miss a little floral notes. Therefore rather untypical Bowmore. In the finish, the Talisker 57 ° North came to my mind. But we can immediately reject that and exclude it. I would remember that That's why I stick to it: Bowmore in cask strength

The dram caught me cold! Never thought a BenRiach could be so dirty. Blindly I would have guessed Ledaig or Port Charlotte. Strong!
