Interesting profile, like a dessert - very nice

This nose is still the best, but it needs with me water and patience. Where is the sherry? Yes, it is drinkable - but I do not need more than one Dram, especially at the price - a bit reminiscent of a sprightly Glen Allachie 18

This extremely extraordinary whisky was a real discovery for me! And the most interesting thing is if you saw in the composition of the barrels Bourbon and Sherry Casks, then never think that the whisky will be the same again as you tried it from some other distillery! 21 22 23 21

It has a relatively high viscosity and its bouquet is quite intense. I have aromas of acidity, menthol, honey, raisin syrup, creme brulee, milk chocolate and Maggi. Moderately complex. A good balance between sweetness and dryness in terms of taste. The alcohol is clearly noticeable and it has a relatively heavy body.

Notes from a blind tasting.

It is the most prominent member of the line, but this is understandable since he is 18 years old. 15 and 18 year olds don’t feel this vegetable flavor so much.

A very tasty whisky with a beautiful variety of aromas and very balanced and harmonious! Tropical fruits paired with oak and some tobacco. The alcohol strength is just right and in my opinion does not require the addition of water. The price/performance ratio (my purchase price was well under €100) is simply great for this 18er!

Nose Wood. Dry, mature, present. Underneath, dark caramel, not cloyingly sweet, more like slightly burnt. Herbs emerge early. Bitter and spicy. A touch of sage, a hint of dried mint. The nose is overall serious and leans towards the darker side. No playful sweetness, no charmer. Rather a whisky that sits quietly in its chair and waits. The taste Here too, wood comes first. Distinct, but still within reason. Sherry is present, adding depth, but remaining restrained. Then these slightly soapy notes. Not dominant, but noticeable. Along with this, bitter herbs give the whisky a dry feel. Adding water changes surprisingly little. A touch more pepper emerges, but otherwise the aromas remain consistent. Conclusion Solid, but more of a whisky for two concentrated glasses than for a long evening.

A very nice balanced whisky with a classic profile. Nothing is over the top, quite interesting and with a certain complexity.

The whole Renaissance series by Glen Garioch is - in my honest opinion - hugely underrated. All available for under 100 euros, its a must try or must by for all, who love a more than decent Glen Garioch.

Wet toasted oak barrel filled with fresh raspberries, oranges with their skins, maraschino cherries, gooey toffee, hot smoked chilli peppers, fresh mint leaves, flowers, and some peanut butter. I enjoy it: the berries and the bourbon cask influence. Oak stays present throughout, and in the finish it dries out the mouth, but it doesn't bother me. It's like the oakiness of some good oak-aged wines. A day later, the flavour has shifted. All the notes are still there, but much of the raspberries and cherries (though thankfully not all) are replaced with Banoffee cake (spongy banana cake with caramel or toffee layered with whipping cream). The oakiness is also lessened. Technically, it's now a more complex and refined dram. I miss the raspberry bomb that it was at first, but I can't complain as it's still great (technically better).

Overall, in a direct comparison, the 17 is my first choice because it best integrates the woody spice and offers a wonderfully drinkable package, with a perfect match between nose and palate. All in all, an exciting project that once again clearly demonstrates the positive influence of a little more age...

The 17 was better than this. Both are still fine, but I would reach for the 17 over this all day. Not a bad whisky, I'm still a fan of theirs, but I expected a bit more tbh.

Complexity and intensity of aromas and flavors translates into a supreme dram! Fantastic!

Similar to 3rd chapter, however more oaky and I felt alcohol more intensively. More herbal in taste, a bit bittery. Finish soft and oily, with ginger spice and grass. If you like herbal notes more, then this is probably better choice from this series.

I've got a whole bottle, at a point (2/3 left) this was really nice, complex and enjoyable, but as the level went down it has become banal. Overall a nice bottle i would say, there are fresh fruits and spices and malty thickness. just the cork is too bad
