В аромате доминируют карамель, ирис, помадка и сливочная сладость с медовыми и сушёными фруктами (изюм, курага, персик), поверх которых проступают яблоки, груши, цитрусовая цедра и характерная дрожжево-сырная нотка, выдающая фирменный стиль винокурни; ощущаются морская солёность, минеральность и лёгкий намёк на дым или пепел при полном отсутствии торфа. Во вкусе — насыщенная, маслянистая текстура с апельсиновым соком, ананасом, лимонным сорбетом и цитрусовым мармеладом, дополненными солью, кожей, табаком и той же сырной дрожжевой основой; послевкусие длинное и тёплое, с балансом сладости и перечной пряности, но у части дегустаторов — с нарастающей дубовой горечью.
Хвалят за плотность, сложность, чистоту профиля без картонных и хлебных тонов и питкость; главный предмет критики — дубовая горечь и порой чрезмерная древесность, из-за которых гармония страдает, а также непривычная «затхлая», старая, почти заплесневело-винная составляющая, отталкивающая одних и любопытная другим. Оценки согласованы плотно, в основном 85–89: рядовые ревьюеры чаще ставят высокие баллы и говорят о яркости и красоте напитка, тогда как опытные сдержаннее — отмечают идиосинкразию современного стиля винокурни, «неопрятную» старость вкуса и сравнение не в пользу напитка, признавая его достойным пробы, но не своим.

Really leans into the more idiosyncratic aspects of the contemporary Bruichladdich DNA. Not exactly my cup of tea, but certainly worth trying a sample.

It really does feel like an unpeated peated Islay whisky, if that makes sense. Maritime, mineral, briny. Cucumber brine? Some old-ex-bourbon-cask notes in the background. Also a big, honey-like sweetness. |

I don't know why I expected more freshness and a cleaner profile, but this is catching me off guard. Quite some heat. Blind, I might've mistaken this for a Glen Scotia, and I don't mean that as a compliment. |

On the first nose, aromas of marshmallow, Oreo, vanilla coke, caramel brown sugar, and burnt toffee intertwine sweetly. After resting, notes of cranberry juice and fig emerge, accompanied by a unique waxiness, a hint of aged warehouse character, coastal sea breeze saltiness, and pebble-like minerality, eventually blossoming into vibrant citrus notes of lemon and orange juice. The palate is full and rich, delivering lively flavors of orange juice and pineapple, layered with lemon sorbet, vanilla sugar balls, citrus marmalade, and toffee apple. The texture is smooth and pleasing, with an underlying hint of coastal salinity. The finish is long and warm, with a perfect balance of sweetness and peppery spice, culminating in an exceptionally approachable character.

It's a strange whisky, I can't even formulate its profile briefly - oak, burnt branches, burnt jam, it turns out that there's a lot of bitterness, a lot of sweetness, little harmony, few derivatives, quite straightforward and simple. On the plus side - powerful, dense, more drinkable than not.

This whisky makes you want to drink it in big, luscious gulps. It's beautiful and even unusually smoky, bringing to mind the best traditions of Zephyrus and the PC series. There's practically no wood, though its influence is clearly evident. There's no trace of home-brew or bread. There's no paperiness or wet cardboard. Magnificent! Excellent! Signature! No questions at all! This whisky can be aged for much longer! It will only get better and better! Difficulty of note breakdown: 7/10 22 23 22 22

"A whisky that showcases 21 years of aging" Compared to the Re/Define 18, it offers significantly more complexity and clarity in its flavors. However, the slightly overpowering woody bitterness was a letdown. Had it been more restrained, this could have been an exceptionally charming and flavorful whisky.
