A lovely wood fire, lemon and vanilla, the aroma is already great. And it's also very delicious on the palate, beautifully fruity and sweet, with a really well-integrated wood smoke note. I can highly recommend it; it's simply a pleasure to enjoy. A thoroughly successful whisky.

The Campbeltown Saga is a new series from Glen Scotia that references the history of the old whisky capital, but the packaging also features motifs that are more steampunk in style. It's an interesting bottling, approximately 14 years old, medium-peated, and matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, which have imparted a beautiful golden color. The whisky will be available in spring 2026 for around €70-75, which is quite an attractive price. glen-efze.de

In itself a nice, moderately peated, maritime dram with very good value for money, which represents a great calling card for GS. Surprisingly, some bottles – with identical labels! – contain whisky aged in port casks, which is immediately recognizable by its significantly darker color. And it's even better: 88/89/89.

2cl "free" sample from an order. Delicious - a surprise. I had low expectations and hadn't read the manual properly. It has a wonderfully delicious smoky flavor. Good casks, great drinking strength. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Sweet, vanilla, yellow ripe fruits, always with noticeable smoke. It's a shame I only had 2cl. I'd like to try it again. But next time I'll be more attentive from the start. I'm putting a question mark next to my score. Is it because I'm surprised, or is it really that good? The price is also acceptable...

Once the ugly duckling of Campbeltown, Glen Scotia has come a long way. After years of mothballings and inconsistent quality, the distillery has clearly found its place under the wings of the Loch Lomond Group. This medium-peated Campbeltown style (around 20–30 ppm) delivers soft peat smoke, vanilla, citrus peel, salted caramel, and a clear maritime backbone. Silky mouthfeel, well-integrated alcohol, and a lovely sweet, coastal finish with lingering ember-like smoke. Not flashy, but honest and simply good. The first release of this new saga is a decent whisky with a good ABV that doesn't require concentration. It's decent, but more for sipping than for dissecting. As they say... for Netflix. Campbeltown fans will be right at home. Like a film you've already seen, but you're watching it. ???? It's somewhere around Springbank 10. If I had to choose one, it'd probably be S10, but if I received this bottle as a gift, I wouldn't be offended. :) Pleasant. P.S. The year 1832, when the Glen Scotia Distillery was founded, marked a time when whisky was an integral part of the city's life. At its peak, this port town boasted 37 distilleries, earning Campbeltown the nickname "Whiskyopolis" and supplying the world with its whisky – a tribute to Glen Scotia and Master Distiller Iain McAlister, hence the "Whiskyopolis" on the label.

Peaty notes are at the forefront, with much less sweetness than on the nose. Pineapple, lemon, and burnt sugar in the smoke. A marine minerality characteristic of Campbeltown. |

Here too, pineapple, pebbles, lovely minerality, vanilla, and of course, peat. It comes across a bit like the 12-year-old, only slightly stronger and with more peat, which is a good thing, as the 12-year-old was really good. Truly lovely! Scotia is definitely a distillery I'll be keeping a very close eye on in the coming months. |

A truly superb bourbon maturation from Glen Scotia. Fruity and sweet, aged for 14 years in the cask with a subtle smokiness. This whisky holds its own against its neighbor from Springbank. Certainly, Springbank has its own unique style, which I truly love. But Glen Scotia represents Campbeltown in its own way, one that is no less expressive. The GS Campbeltown Saga No. 1 is a superbly crafted single malt, sweet, smoky, and maritime. A definite recommendation.

Caramel, vanilla, toffee, malt, honey. Light fruits: apricot, peach, pineapple, lime, red apples with cinnamon. Topped with vanilla sauce. A wonderfully fruity and sweet nose. A light, earthy smokiness lingers in the background. |

It opens with a light wood spice and malt notes. Burnt caramel, crème brûlée. Vanilla, honey, light fruits like apricot, peach, mirabelle plum, pineapple, a touch of ginger. On top of that, vanilla custard and powdered sugar. Then come maritime notes, seaweed, seagrass, and sea salt. A subtle earthy smokiness. The mouthfeel is sweet and creamy. |

The finish is medium-long. The subtle wood spice transitions into a pleasant fruity sweetness. Caramel, honey, and vanilla carry the finish before a lovely maritime note and a touch of smoke take over. It ends with a sweet and salty flavor and a hint of ginger spice. |

Very solid and classic whisky. Really nice to drink and explore. Actually I like it pretty much to get the classic bourbon cask maturation without any finish.

Wonderful maritime smoke and classic bourbon cask flavors. Pineapple, little vanilla and quite fruity. Salted caramel, milk chocolate, a little dirty and quite mineral. Peaches, stone fruits, citrus and lime zest. Orange oil, some hazelnuts, green walnuts and cotton candy. |

Sweet, smoky, salted and sour. The nose is reflected, but the smoke is more prominent. Burnt sugar and unripe pineapple juice with lime zest. The minerality is quite pronounced throughout. Initially, it comes across as salted lime zest, which integrates with the smoke towards the finish. The viscosity is rather thin. |

It begins with an exceptionally flavorful, maritime peat smoke, like that of a much older Islay whisky whose smokiness has softened and settled; interwoven within this: cocoa powder. Behind it come caramel, vanilla, and above all, milk chocolate. Hazelnut? Primary association: liquid Toblerone! That's refined, splendidly balanced; a true gentleman with an opinion. At first I thought the mineral note reminded me of clay, but the note is clearly finer and therefore potter's clay. On the horizon, an unattainable tropical fruit basket, which strongly reminds me of Bowmores from the 1st Fill Bourbon barrel, but in the distance and always shielded by the chocolatey sweets. Delicious in the mouth, but surprisingly thin; fleeting with a quick finish, which makes it dangerously easy to drink! In the empty glass - I'm an empty-glass sniffer - the mineral peat smoke (here the note is again somewhat harsher towards wet clay) plus citrus zest. I never thought I'd say or write this, but: in my opinion, 5-8% more alcohol would have suited him well. Nose: 88 points - Mouth: 87 points - Exit: 85 points; totaling 87 percentage points. I will certainly enjoy this bottle; I probably won't buy another one, although I have no complaints about the taste. A little more courage, Glen Scotia: you're on the right track!
