Quick hit review. Whisky calendar - Day 9. I think we have a bit of a guilty pleasure today - I mean, who would admit to enjoying an official bottling of Bowmore? Intense notes of sherry and red wine dominate the nose, think of berries, dark chocolate and black pepper. Whiffs of an old steam engine emerge, mixing with tar, burnt matches and brine. On the palate, dark fruits, resinous oak and oranges give way to salty peat smoke. Wet casks in action, but it is a quaffable dram. Strawberry jam, licorice and eucalyptus remain in the mildly bitter finish. This is surprisingly good, but don't tell the Elf! RATING: 3.7/5.0 stars ≙ 85 pts → ABOVE AVERAGE [+]

Nice nose! Creamy, full, velvety, redolent of Bowmore's trademark buttery, leathery smoke. Simultaneously sweet and savory, with an emphasis on the former. Cherry marmalade spilled all over an old leather sofa sitting by an autumnal bonfire, that kind of thing. Not very complex, but de-li-cious, and as well-rounded as a pebble washed smooth by the tides. Water increases the peatiness (or invokes it in the first place). In the mouth, it's decidedly less creamy and polished. The letdown arrives with a very slight alcoholic nip and a mouthfeel that is juuuust a bit too watery. Also, the red wine casks make their presence felt right after we've crossed the mid-palate, with spiky, tart tannins that do not mesh well with the whispering softness of the nose. Like many wine-cask matured whiskies, this one is front-loaded, boasting a good attack that closely dovetails the nose only to veer off course after the midway point and end up in a jumble of winey overlay and acerbic tanninicity. A game of two halves, then: A simple but immaculate nose; an incongruous palate that is ultimately spoiled by the use of wine casks. Too bad, really.

Much would be written about the grades. For me there remains an imbalance and he is a bit aggressive. The dram wants attention, but it's not round enough for that. 71-80 – Fine, like to drink by time

Very good whisky!

Exciting Bowmore. The nose is idiosyncratic and overproduced. The similarity to the Devils Cask series is there, but here as well I find it a bit too bitter in between.

A very interesting Bowmore, slightly dirty, especially on the finish. I like it because of its idiosyncratic profile, a Bowmore to my liking.

Nose: greasy, smoky, floral, aromatic herbs (could really be some caraway), bread crust and berry fruit. An almost typical nose of bacon-sherry-sweet Bowmors but the intense floral / herbal aromas make it interesting. Strong and warming with powerful sherry sweetness and now warm ash as smoky flavor. Very creamy and sticky sweet. Towards the back, it becomes rather dry and the smoke turns more and more into ashes. The spices stay, but have a hard time against the sherry and the smoke. At the second sip, there are even Christmas spices added - cloves and cinnamon. I like it really well. Much better than the almost simultaneously published 9 year old and the pleasing Darkest. Intense yet tasty Bowmore for the price (70-80 EUR) despite E150 a clear buy recommendation from me.

Long story short: a diluted Devil's Cask Bowmore? No, rather a strong and hence better Bowmore standard expression which profits from the abv and the cask selection. Well balanced and interesting, I like it. P. S. 2023: I really regret not having bought at least a second bottle when this one was issued at a very moderate price!

A very rich, intense sherry. Smoky raspberry. Humus, damp undergrowth. A Midsummer bonfire in the forest. Warming oneself by a large fire in the middle of the night, in the countryside. A ripe pomegranate is opened. The seeds are crushed in the hand. The juice runs between the fingers. A beautiful balance between smoke and red fruit. The palate is almost Madeira-like. Cherry, Morello cherry, blackberry, a few currants, wood and charcoal. Smoked ham. Increasingly strong spices: clove, ginger, nutmeg, gray pepper. Then blueberry, quince, and apricot jam. very round and easy to drink - unfortunately the body is a bit weak

Always nice when a Bowmore is bottled at a slightly higher drinking strength. The exotic fruits, especially the passion fruit note, make this bottling unmistakable for me. I hope it will be available for a few more years.

I let the dram breathe in the glass for about an hour. A great malt. Very pleasant aroma combination. Very balanced and the smoke is well integrated. Delicious. I would have thought him older blindly.

The wine cask harmonizes really well with the sherry cask and the distillery character. Great and exciting entry-level whisky with a variety of aromas. On the palate it falls off a bit to the great nose.

The name is very misleading. The inspiration for "Devils Cask" was not very high. You can drink it well, but it's rather ordinary and doesn't knock my socks off.

Inspiration is a fallacy. It's better to go for the original Devils Cask, even if it's a lot more expensive.

I only have a small sample at first tasted it and then got it straight away ordered a bottle. Very drinkable, dangerously drinkable and a clear buy for the current price. Nice red wine notes. The wine barrels don't have it managed to create the distillery character cover up. A detailed tasting note works only when the bottle is open.

A little contradictory, as for me. Specific aroma. Maybe not enough sample to try.

Advance information about my point allocation: I rate my whisky's privately with a ten-point scale (XX, X of 10.0)! Smell / nose Leathery and greasy smoke, overripe cherries, plums, red wine, all in all a lot of dark fruit. Later fuller and more mature in the nose, almost heavy! Slight sulphurous tinge, hints of orange. Taste / mouth Fruity, sweet, dark fruits, drying out easily, something heavy deposits on the tongue as a coating (mixture of tobacco and leather). Chocolate, coffee. Rauch integrated very well! Departure / throat Medium-long - long, dry, spicy, dark fruits, spices (Christmas), a touch of salt, orange. After a long time, some mint. notes Great to smell! Light complexity. Balanced.

Wine cask influence continues to appeal to me with this one. The Sherry on the nose hits like a ton of bricks, and the meaty taste in the finish is just incredible.

On first impression, the whisky is really fun. Both in smell and taste it offers intense aromas of red and yellow fruits, sweet smoke and spicy oak. What more could you ask for. At second glance, however, it does not look very harmonious, artificial and artificial. The smell is scented, the taste is mixed with artificial aromas. I do not know the original Devils Cask, but this 10y convinces. Not too lax, somewhat idiosyncratic and harsh, which I now attributed to the wine barrels. PLV I find ok, if they would just omit the paint bucket ..

If I remember the Devils Cask, the similarity is there. Here, what I salute, the strong oak of the Devils Cask is missing and there is a pleasant slight sharpness there. A nice dram!

Amber color, more discreet nose than the previous, caramel, chewing gum, red fruits, nuts, a little too chemical. The mouth is thicker, more powerful than the previous one, but a little alcoholic, always a chemical side, dry enough it lacks gluttony. In this one the nose is more peaty than the mouth. The salty side of Bowmore is unobtrusive. Finale of medium length, a little alcohol, spices, nuts. Pretty disappointing.

For me he leaves a somewhat ambiguous impression. Very nice, loud base one OA Bowmore I'm actually on bittertones. but with this Bowmore they just bother me a bit. The tart comes from the red wine barrels. I really like The Devil's Casks - Small Batch Release III. But dyed according to base. Hard to believe . If only the high price and the color were not

The soy sauce hand-filled from Bowmore in recent years is undoubtedly too much for me like an elderly person, 46% is a wise choice, thanks to the more heavy-mouthed background, the wine barrel can not drink any smell, It's more like adding a bit of dry sherry, yes, you can add points.

The Bowmore is musty and heavy in the glass, the first association makes it appear older than the 10 years on the label. Dark fruits, a light note of sauerkraut (much more subtle here than in the Ledaig 18) and subtle sweetness rise relatively calmly from the glass. Gradually, the fruity notes become more and more dominant (peach, figs?), the musty notes clear up and the sweetness becomes stronger. Very similar to the standard 15, probably minimally fuller. Round and full in the mouth for 10 years, also fruity and spicy with lots of chocolate and some ash. Due to the higher alcohol content, it is a little more intense than the 15 but also a little less full and creamy. The finish also begins with cold ash, which is gradually pushed out by dark chocolate. Fruit notes show up only discreetly in the background. The 15 is far more voluminous and complex here, and also less angular. Length: 5/10 Overall a great Bowmore that I would have bought 15 years from if I didn't have the 15 right next to it. Only the sauerkraut note from the nose doesn't really appeal to me, but of course it makes it more interesting and complex (and disappears relatively quickly). In a direct comparison, the 15 from the standard range wins for me at least. Rating: B+

I was blown away by the standard 10YO version called Dark & Intense, so from this one I expected nothing but another incredible whisky. And yes, it's incredible! Another proof that peat smoke and ex-wine casks were created for each other.

Boring style. Looks very made and put together according to scheme F. Fruit, smoke, some spice. Inconsequential, albeit flawless and drinkable.

Nose: Lush moist peat, the typical Bowmore sherry nose, pepaart with sour notes of red wine, with spices, a little disturbing the caraway. But everything is full under the greasy, sweet peat Mouth: Here too the sweet peat, very mild and oily in the mouth, plum and marzipan, again the kitchen spices. Light & smooth, good one but sad that price is a bit high.

This could have been a stunner, it has all the correct elements for a classic Bowmore. However, the wine casks, bring a slight harsh element especially on the taste, which ruins the score.

Nice combination of sherry and red wine barrels, which clearly set the tone for the aroma. The light Bowmore peat smoke forms a nice contrast to this. The nose inspires me, but the mouthfeel and the relatively short finish cloud my joy a little. Really complex for a 10yr old Single Malt. Typical Bowmore in a way but with added strength that further compliments the Whisky.

Great Bowmore, Sometimes it's hard to say that if it's from Islay. Some once introduced ot to me and got me straight away. It's inspired by the Devil's Cask collection.... never tried it before , but I deffinily must do that.

I'll resume this quite simply. -This is NOT a Devil's Cask, do not expect this much -This is 1L vs 700/750. -They're still 4x cheaper than a DC. This asside, it's loaded of flavors, definitely classical diluted bowmore if i can say it like this. Smoky, fruity, texture is a bit weak but hey its a 46% bowmore, quite tasty. Some nice spices and sugar in there. For me, this is what you have when you don't want to sip an expensive bowmore but wish for this flavor profile. You just ate or smoked a cigar, well, doesnt change a thing, you pick this over the expensive stuff.

Balanced not very intense whisky.

Cherry pie with cream. This bottling has character. I would like to try cask strength. Overall successful and I think the current price of around 70 € is just about reasonable.

The Bowmore IbtDC is very convincing in terms of color and appearance, although it has to be assessed negatively that Bowmore - also here - worked with dye, therefore a few prints. But in taste with a very convincing complexity and balance between fruitiness and Bowmore's own intense smoke / peat aroma, this whisky is a "must-have" in every well-stocked collection.

Takes a while in the glass to develop, then the aromas come.

The perfect description should be smoked sangria! Great ripped red oranges, smoke, peat, bonfire tint and red fruit jams
