Молодой односолодовый из винных бочек STR: сладко-кислый цитрусово-фруктовый профиль с грейпфрутом, дубовыми пряностями и горчинкой. Опытные ценят как приятный лёгкий образец, менее опытные чаще упрекают в сырости и доминировании бочки.

В аромате — розовый грейпфрут и апельсиновая цедра, ваниль, анис, сушёный абрикос, ананас и слива, лёгкие древесные и пряные тона (гвоздика, кардамон); заметен и молодой возраст с ощутимым спиртом. Во вкусе сладкое начало быстро уходит в кислое и суховато-горьковатое: цитрусовые, кислые винные мармеладки, солод, дубовая пряность, орех и виноградные косточки, у части авторов — маслянистость и хороший объём во рту. Послевкусие короткое-среднее, на грейпфруте, красных апельсинах, дубе и карамели с горчинкой; один из опытных отмечает долгое послевкусие на фундуке, черносливе и вереске. Опытные ревьюеры настроены благосклоннее: несколько называют напиток вкусным и удивляются, что молодость почти не мешает, а один считает его лучшим из трёх бочковых релизов серии; их сдержанность касается лишь простоватости и жёстких древесных нот STR-бочки. Менее опытные острее критикуют сырость, вычурность и то, что бочка подавляет характер спирта, а также избыточную сладость и нехватку слоёв. Оценки согласованны и плотно сгруппированы в диапазоне 77–88, расхождения умеренные, общий вывод — крепкий, легко пьющийся, но не выдающийся образец.

Quick hit review. With STR wine barriques, every warning light should be flashing red - yet, oddly enough, this bottling is really good. Notes of plum cake, cinnamon and cloves greet the nose, followed by dry oak, blackberries and whiffs of sulfur. Not overly complex, but very inviting. Sweet berries kick off the arrival - the palate is a seamless continuation of the nose, think of baking spices, plum butter and dark grapes. This is really tasty. Red apples, citrus zest and a touch of wood remain in the herbal finish. An easy sipper - and there is nothing wrong with that! RATING: 3.5/5.0 stars ≙ 84 pts → ABOVE AVERAGE

STR... scraped (or shaved), toasted and re-charred to bring back new live into a barrel. I do like the concept, but am not fully convinced, I often find these STR casks giving too much hard wood notes.

STR At Lindores they use three cask types as standard: bourbon, sherry and STR wine barrels. To showcase the variety of flavours, they have released a series under the label 'The Casks of Lindores', releasing single malts that have matured exclusively in such a type of cask. This is the STR Wine Barrique release from 2022. Pleasant, sweet and sour nose on pink grapefruit, vanilla, dried apricots, pineapple on the BBQ and anise. It can't hide his young age, but it doesn't bother on the nose. It starts sweet and sour – with the emphasis on the latter – on the tongue, but quickly becomes somewhat dry and bitter. Kiwi, wine gums, grapefruit evolve into walnuts and grape seeds. The wood also releases a lot of spices. Think cardamom and cloves. The finish is relatively short on even more grapefruit and blood oranges with a bitter ending. Nice to see what influence the cask has on such a young spirit. Believe it or not (I'm surprised by it myself): I think it's the best of the three. It is available for about 70 EUR.

A little plum side, very round and fruity, but light, drops of honey that fall on the tongue, vanilla and whipped cream. Fresh mint, banana and soft lemon, cherry clafoutis. Hands smeared with blackberries. Fondant with blackcurrant, goat's milk. In the mouth, it's syrupy, molasses, marshmallow, and of course honey. The spices are very controlled, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg. It's herbaceous at the end, we continue with the finish, long, on hazelnut, prune, heather, caramel. A cola nut, malty freshness. Notes from a blind tasting.
Нос 84 Open up quickly. Intense and sweet-sour on the nose. The alcohol is easily noticeable. Orange peel, vanilla, aniseed, a hint of mint, dried apricots, canned pineapple, dry wood, fine citrus notes. Seems quite young. The aroma remains fairly constant and doesn't change much anymore.
Вкус 85 It tingles very nicely when you start. Spicy and acidic on the palate, also very slightly oily. Orange wine gum, malt, oak spice, caramel, ripe kiwi, forest floor. Drifts slightly into bitterness.
Финиш 83 Short to medium length finish. Oranges, caramel, oak spice. The slight bitterness spreads towards the back and lasts for a while. Finally, add some cardboard. Very difficult to say what this could be about. Probably still relatively young and bottled under 50%. He's not smoky. The concise orange notes, which also have a slightly artificial touch, are particularly characteristic. Something nice for in between.

Cask tends to dominate too much and suppresses distillery character. Rich wine sour gums, grapefruit , berries, winery notes .

Too contrived to really enjoy. To smell the glass, but forced bitter on the tongue, woody notes that do not yet belong in such a young whisky. The aftertaste does have some spice but in general it is a bit too raw.

Spicy yet soft. Lots of hints of grapes, slightly spicy and the taste of zwieback. Light sweets. Not very complex. Average aftertaste. Drinks nicely. Fine bottle.

Sweet and sour, good mouthfeel, typical STR cask matured with wood notes and brown sugar, some warming spices. Finish medium, on citrus pith and something herbal (in a good way).

It has a melon and fig scent, which is quite similar to the scent I smelled in Tilling single malt, but with a slightly more positive scent. The taste is as expected from the scent and I like the unique character. Of course, it seems like there will be a lot of likes and dislikes because of the unique scent and taste. It has a bit of alcohol and the taste is disappointing compared to the alcohol content. I look forward to the taste of it being aged longer.

First impressions on the nose: warm spice, sweet fruit. Lots of oak, vanilla, and crème brûlée. Dried red fruit, overripe strawberries and raspberries. Ripe exotic fruits like banana and pineapple. After a while in the glass, it really reveals sweet, ripe to overripe fruit. For me, it's a bit too sweet on the palate, lacking layering, but round and creamy. A touch of bitterness and some acidity. A hint of pepper in the background. The finish is short to medium. In conclusion, the sweetness is dominant, leaving a slightly too sweet feeling on the lips.
