Насыщенная хересная выдержка (первая заливка PX): шоколад, карамель, корица, сухофрукты и кофе поверх лёгкой торфяной основы дистиллята. Оценки ровные (87–91); упрёк один — жар спирта, местами избыточная интенсивность.

В аромате — глубокий шоколад и брауни, карамельный и коричный сироп, ром с изюмом, ирисная тянучка, табак, полированное дерево и кофейный ликёр; с водой добавляются вишня, красные ягоды и апельсиновая цедра, а часть авторов отмечает миндаль, грецкий орех, розу, сушёную клюкву, ментол, сосну и гвоздику. Вкус плотный, маслянистый, почти жевательный: карамель, крем, корица, сухофрукты, тёмный шоколад, чёрный перец и восточные пряности (мускатный орех, гарам-масала, куркума), с кислинкой хереса и нотами старых книг и кожаной мебели. Послевкусие средней длины, где переплетаются сладость, пряность, эспрессо и горечь тёмного шоколада, оставляя лёгкую сухость. Оценки согласованы и держатся в узком коридоре 87–91, так что резких расхождений между опытными и остальными нет: опытные ставят сдержаннее (87–88), тогда как более высокие 91 приходят от менее авторитетных авторов, восхищённых интенсивностью. Хвалят за насыщенность, вязкую текстуру, слаженность и то, что виски играет выше своего возраста и цены. Главная и по сути единственная претензия — крепость: спиртовой жар пробивается сквозь сладость, «линия огня» в желудке, а сама плотность хересного профиля для кого-то чрезмерна.

SMWS Tasting Notes: We firstly commented on the wonderful deep colour of shiny conkers before the aroma became full of chocolate brownies, rum and raisin fudge, treacle toffee, tobacco, polished wood and a sweet coffee liqueur. Plenty of warming spices on the palate neat; nutmeg and garam masala before chocolate mousse, banana bread and caramel sauce appeared. Water added cherries in the form of red velvet choc-cherry cupcakes and milk chocolate infused with zesty natural orange, while to taste: death by chocolate cake! After eleven years in an ex-oloroso butt, we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill PX sherry butt. Price was 65,20 GBP.

nose Extremely powerful, creamy, sticky. Full cannon of caramel and cinnamon, sweet as sugar, a hint of tropical fruits and then the full load of Black Forest cake. Despite all the strength, extremely well integrated alcohol, I would have guessed a few more years. Raisins, dried plums and spicy aromas from the spice market mix with it. Cinnamon syrup, if there's something like that ... the dram constantly changes between sweet and tart. taste Still extremely sticky and intense, but here too without the annoying alcohol. Caramel, cinnamon and the spice shop dominate. Tart, tangy sherry and yet at the same time sugar-sweet syrup. Some fruit acid, along with old books and leather furniture. A very creamy and sticky texture, you eat the whisky almost sooner than you drink it. Dried berries, blackberries and raspberries. Dark chocolate with more cinnamon. The spice market also brings something oriental with it. Turmeric? Towards the finish, a small but very intense espresso. Exit Medium length, with the same interplay between spicy and sweet. Cinnamon, fruit acid, espresso and black chocolate. A slight bitterness remains in the mouth. Conclusion An extreme sherry bomb that plays well beyond its age and price range. An inspiring fireworks display of extremely intense aromas. I like that very much, but I would understand if some complained about too much intensity here. N-92, T-91, F-90 for intense 91 points

Нос 90 Baked almond,wallnut, almost solvent-like (a super conentrated almond extract?), followed by rose, loads of dark chocolate and coffee, as well as dried cranberries. It later delivered the notes of stewed apple, TCM, menthol, pine and cloves as well as ginger. The aroma kept spreading during the decanting, overshadowing the other dram during the tasting session (a peer finished in European Oak Palo Cortado cask)
Вкус 92 Superb viscosity with a full, bold and powerful body. Syrupy apon arrival, with increidible sweetness of caramel, which developed into lovely sour raisin-like, but well balanced by the bitterness of dark chocolate. Popcorn, black peper, and a hint of ripen stone fruit.
Финиш 91 Definitely long finish, with chocolate, toffee, ginger, liquorice, cloves and a lovely hint of cooling menthol. Slightly drying. Never an drink-and-forget dram.

Нос 88 SMWS has a high alcohol content, especially those bottled in recent years. The alcohol smell is very strong, but the barrel used for this bottle is relatively restrained. Maybe Blair Athol's body is very suitable for sherry barrels? This is a piece of brownie cake decorated with preserved fruits, sweet and sour: plenty of cream, caramel syrup, dried apricots, then oak and a little cinnamon.
Вкус 87 The sweetness is very high, there is a lot of cream, and the wine is thick, but it can't block the spicy taste of alcohol. You can clearly feel a line of fire rushing to your stomach. It has a slight grainy feeling, but it is very clean overall, without any messy strange smell. The fruity taste shifts from dried fruits to red fruits such as cherries, cinnamon, dark chocolate, and a little dusty old newspapers and old furniture to add to its layering.
Финиш 86 Medium long, with a mixture of sweetness, spiciness and bitterness, and the bitterness at the end is quite long.
