В аромате доминируют ваниль (крем, пудинг), мёд, воск и пчелиный воск, лимонная цедра и сено, поверх которых ложатся жёлтые и тропические фрукты — яблоко, груша, персик, абрикос, ананас, личи, дыня, с оттенками марципана, миндаля и старых книг, минеральности и озона. Вкус маслянисто-кремовый, с фирменной восковой текстурой, цитрусом, мёдом и сдержанной сладостью, но с ощутимой терпкостью и перечно-имбирной пряностью; дуб проявляется мягко, ближе к концу. Послевкусие средней длины, тёплое, пряно-перечное, восково-медовое, с сухим деревом, лакрицей и лёгким какао, у части дегустаторов — с горчинкой и обрывистым завершением. Опытные ревьюеры держатся плотно в диапазоне 87–89 и сходятся на сбалансированности и породистости, отмечая, что с несколькими каплями воды виски заметно смягчается и раскрывается, а также что он менее суров и фруктовее молодых розливов той же винтажности; главная их претензия — цена. Остальные оценки чуть разбросаннее: большинство ставит 87–88, но встречаются недовольные избытком перца, а один автор подробно описывает посторонние ноты — сырой арахис, лук, меловую резкость и водочный спирт — снизив до 86; есть и одиночный выброс 75. В целом согласованность высокая, восковой цитрусово-фруктовый профиль признают почти все, а расхождения сводятся к переносимости пряно-горькой составляющей и оправданности цены.

A beautiful Clynelish that excels with a few drops of water. Really well done, but sadly way too expensive.
Нос 89 Exceedingly aromatic, very pronounced and present. Dry yet creamy, tart but fruity, with a crisp tingle of oak – extremely well-balanced.
Вкус 90 With the right amount of water, it's downright mellow and maximally more-ish. Lovely balance of citrus, spice and waxes. For me, the real action is toward the back end, though, with its spot-on crescendo of well-behaved oak.
Финиш 89 The moments immediately after it goes down are the best. Expertly crafted finished, with just the right balance between spirit and cask notes. Not super long, but perfectly harmonious.

A classic, waxy, sweet and fruity Clynelish. Something like that would be a great midrange standard for around €100. Paying more than that doesn't make sense in my opinion.

It is among the best in this year's DSR and, considering its maturation age, it is not too expensive. On the nose, sharp contours, clear, straightforward effect. It feels stronger than 51.6%, mineral, bubbly and even ozone-like. Omnipresent vanilla sprinkled with lemon peel. On the palate (finally!) I perceive waxiness, the sharp simplicity of the aroma transitions more into juicy fruitiness (still just a hint), a little dried pineapple, the sweetness of which contrasts with the present tannins (wine, green tea). Something tropical gently peeks out in the background, passion fruit? Very decent and noble and moderate. The finish is medium-long, the juiciness disappears and spices, lemon peel, more minerals come in. The dryness of the wood only becomes apparent at the very end.

More disappointing than expected. There’s enough quality here to call it solid, yet the off-notes stand out more than they should.
Нос 87 Green apple, raw peanut, lemon, pineapple, muscat grape, apple mango, dairy "Fresh and sweet, but slightly dull" The nose is filled with bright, sweet fruit aromas. It opens with crisp green apple, followed by lemon and pineapple acidity, then shifts into the sweetness of muscat grape and apple mango. The progression of aromas is quite engaging. It clearly feels like a well-made whisky, but a hint of raw peanut-like greenness and dullness slightly detracts from the experience.
Вкус 86 Pineapple, peanut, green apple, lime, apple mango, bitterness, onion "The opening is vibrant and fruity, but.." The first sip is distinctly fruity, with pineapple and apple mango bursting onto the palate. Green apple and lime sweetness follow, but soon an odd peanut note appears, gradually morphing into an onion-like pungency. Just when you start to question it, excessive bitterness sets in, making the palate feel somewhat disappointing. It might work better when the palate is already a bit dulled, but as a first dram, it’s not particularly appealing.
Финиш 85 Alcohol, apple mango, onion, chalk, woody "It is clearly a Clynelish, but…" As it moves into the finish, chalky and waxy notes become more pronounced. Strangely, a vodka-like alcohol sharpness emerges, followed by a touch of apple mango sweetness. Onion-like pungency and woody notes linger, resulting in a slightly unpleasant finish.

2023SR, 2025SR vertical review Clynel = clynelish Clynel 10: It has a distinct Clynelish feel, with the bourbon cask flavor asserting strongly. However, it is quite rough. When diluted with water, it leans more toward the light and bright bourbon cask side. As the sweetness emerges and it becomes easier to drink, it is better to add just a little water. Clynel 18: It feels like an upgraded version of Clynelish 14. The waxiness is very noticeable, making it feel more like Clynelish than the 2023SR. The waxiness comes through better even when diluted, giving it a more polished feel than Clynelish 14, but the pungent, ginger-like spice is more emphasized, so I think it's better before dilution.
Нос 87 Clenell 10: 85 / Pineapple, Floral, Green Apple, Honey. It is a shame that the scent is not strong. It feels like it is being masked by the alcohol sensation. Clynel 18: 87 / Light aromas reminiscent of bourbon casks, with a slight floral nuance. Quite prominent coconut, with a hint of vanilla. Lacks maturity, but blends well with Clynelish's signature waxy notes. A faint burnt scent like a campfire. Even though Clynel 18 lacks a mature feel, the scent you expect from Clynelish is much stronger.
Вкус 89 Knell 10: 87 / Green apple, nut oil, almond, sugar syrup, waxy, faint smoky. It is quite powerful, though the short aging period is noticeable. Clynel 18: 89 / Waxy, coconut, green apple, honey, vanilla, subtle smoky. Feels like an upgraded version of Clynelish 14.
Финиш 87 Knell 10: 84 / Almond, green apple, honey, smoky. Starts with good intensity but finishes hastily, faster than 18. Knell18: 87 / Waxy, green apple, somewhere between honey and toffee, spice. The finish is strong halfway through and then suddenly cuts off.

Tasted at the London Whisky Show. Lighter than what one would expect from Clynelish, but fruitier than many post 2000 Clynelishs.
Нос 88 Light wax, with more emphasis on floral and fruity notes. Most notable pineapples and a hint of mangoes. Also some chalk.

It’s got typical Clynelish character but nothing screams I am so much better than the Clynelish 14 that it has to have the high premium price it has. Nice tropical notes, pineapple, waxy, peppers., lemon zest. With time in glass more pineapple, citrus and honeycomb notes. It a tasty dram but not worth the price in my view. I’ll wait for the price drops while it gathers dust on the shelves.

I did a tasting of all the 2025 Diageo Special Releases with friends, and this was the most popular among them. Indeed, it's clean and somewhat oily, with no negative notes - an excellent malt. However, those who love Clynelish might find it lacking in character and somewhat underwhelming.

The nose is on wax and honey, but also a bit shy - water really is needed to open it up, then the honey and fruits take over for a complete and classic Clynelish nose. The palate is waxy, oily and honeyed with some chalk as well. Despite the relatively low starting ABV it is a great swimmer and water brings out more complexity for the full Clynelish experience. The finish is warm on wax and honey. This is one of those drams where a sample will give you a too limited impression. If you are a Clynelish fan, as I am, this is a bottle well worth getting.

Blog coming on 29 November 2025 on my website: www.longpouramour.com My conclusion about this one: "Not a brilliant whisky, but it did fascinate me, the Clynelish finally lives up to the name Special Release. Somehow, this Pineapple Cut does not seem to be able to deliver the fruit the name and technique would imply. Instead, the waxes are magnified even more than usual in a Clynelish single malt. What is not to like? Well, perhaps a little bit more balance would have been nice. As it stands, this is a Clynelish for professors!"

Standard 00's Clynelish. A fruity flavor reminiscent of Distillery exclusives. Recommended for those who enjoy the "Clean style" Clynelish.

2026.04.11 Wmore A bottle of Cat wine that needs decanting will smell completely different depending on whether it's been opened or not. It needs ample time to reveal the winery's character. A well-decanted bottle could potentially reach 89 points or higher.

Нос 86 A mix of lighter fruits, green apple, some citrus, and a touch of melon, but certainly not a fruit bomb. Quite a few mineral notes, like pebbles by a lake. Pleasant sweetness and a hint of menthol. Not overly complex, but quite good nonetheless.
Вкус 87 On the palate, the flavors are predominantly light, unripe fruit, with a hint of Haribo apple rings. The wood isn't overpowering but rather a nice complement. I also detect a slight saltiness and mineral notes, along with a touch of waxiness. For me, the taste is better than the nose.
Финиш 87 Coats the entire mouth, slightly pleasant bitterness, a touch of salt, a hint of minerality. Medium length.

Pineapple, papaya, lemon, caramel, vanilla. aste: papaya, mango, passion fruit, pineapple, kiwi, albedo, caramels, hard candies, sugar syrup, wax, liquorice. Finish: quite long. White pepper, caramel, orange zest, orange marmalade, wax, propolis. A solid Clynelish. Surprisingly fruity and tropical, very intense in aroma, yet delicate in flavour.

Lovely, coastal, citrusy nose, but the palate feels a bit hollow compared to how promising the aromas are.
Нос 88 Pineapple at first, then citrus-forward—very lemony. There’s a hint of green apple early on, but with time it leans more into peach. Overall it has a slightly cosmetic, powdery vibe. Gradually a seashell/coastal saltiness comes up, and a gingery spice helps fill out what would otherwise feel a bit light in volume.
Вкус 87 Less fruit-driven than the nose. The alcohol prickle is gentle for the strength, and sweetness is fairly low; instead the acidity stands out more. Lemon citrus leads, with an earthy-ginger spice and a light “fresh wood” oak note. When rolled around, a touch of salinity and a shell-like minerality appear, then a faint nuttiness toward the end.
Финиш 86 It closes as an extension of the palate. Right after swallowing, a light nutty note and fresh-cut wood show up on the exhale. Lemon acidity lingers for a while, then it settles into a slightly bitter, herbal aftertaste.

A Clynelish with a rather fine nose and more intensity on the palate. It's not dominated by wax, although it's noticeable on the palate; it's more dominated by fruit. Without any serious flaws, I recommend it.

as a whisky - it’s amazing. As special release is maybe little bit too plain and simple. I would like to drink it every night but sometimes I look for something unorthodox, and here it is missing a bit.

Just a run-of-the-mill Clynelish. It falls short if you drink it expecting a typical 18-year-old Clynelish, but for a Clynelish at the 200,000 KRW price point, the flavor is excellent. Is it really worth going through immense effort to source a bottle? Personally, I preferred the hand fill.

A faint waxiness; it feels quite spicy and sharp. Decent for the price point, but disappointing considering its age statement. It makes me wonder if the hand fill I had earlier was better.
Вкус 87 Apple, Lemon, Pineapple, Vanilla, Pepper, Waxiness Refreshing fruits, though not overly intense. A powerful presence of pepper, while the waxiness is remarkably faint. The flavor profile itself is light like a young expression, but the minimal alcohol burn gives it a well-matured feel.
Финиш 86 Apple, Vanilla, Lemon, Pineapple Tart and sour fruits. The vanilla becomes significantly stronger here than it was on either the nose or the palate.
