Насыщенный хересный виски (доработка в бочке из-под педро хименеса) — тёмные сушёные фрукты, кожа, тёмный шоколад, ранцио. Опытные ставят его очень высоко за глубину и баланс, но многие сетуют, что характер самой винокурни херес полностью перекрыл.

В аромате доминирует херес с землистой, почти торфянисто-минеральной нотой: изюм, чернослив, тушёные тёмные фрукты, кожа, тёмный шоколад, корица и кардамон, сахаристый дуб, воск, к которому добавляются грецкий орех, апельсиновая цедра и мята; у некоторых на заднем плане проступает лёгкая пороховая, серная нота. Вкус плотный, маслянистый, обволакивающий, с концентрированными сушёными фруктами (изюм, финики, инжир), ранцио, бальзамическим оттенком, горькими севильскими апельсинами, солоноватой умами-нотой (соевый соус), тёмной карамелью, чёрным чаем и умеренными танинами; спирт у большинства почти незаметен. Послевкусие очень долгое, сухое и согревающее, с шоколадом, тёмными ягодами, лакрицей, табаком, ореховостью и пряным дубом.
Опытные ревьюеры оценивают виски заметно выше (88–93), называя его исключительно сложным и глубоким, старомодным хересом уровня легендарных выдержек прошлого, с редким балансом мощи бочки и солодового характера и выдающимся послевкусием. Основная критика, звучащая в основном у менее авторитетных авторов и у пары средних оценок (84–87), в том, что бочка из-под педро хименеса слишком мощная и от собственного характера Glen Scotia практически ничего не остаётся, а у отдельных дегустаторов мешает резиноватая, слегка серная нота и не идеально встроенный спирт. Оценки в целом согласованы и держатся высоко (преимущественно 88–93), с редкими провалами; расхождение не столько в качестве, сколько в том, считать ли перекрытие характера винокурни хересом недостатком или достоинством.

An exceptionally complex and profound sherry bomb, displaying a rare balance between raw cask power and malt character. The nose and palate deliver consistently top-notch quality, culminating in a finish that is second to none. For me, one of the most compelling sherry cask whiskies I've had in a long time.

Plenty of dark, almost stewed fruits bring sweetness and fruitiness, along with sugary oak notes, accompanied by leather, dark chocolate, and a hint of cinnamon. Wonderfully complex and deep – one could smell it for hours. A true gentleman's club dram (Chesterfield leather armchair, dark Maduro cigar, and 80-90% chocolate). The alcohol is barely perceptible after some time in the glass. A note of gunpowder/sulfur emerges in the background – but truly only subtly, as if someone in the corner were taking their antique dueling pistols out of their case. |

It has an oily viscosity and a highly intense bouquet. I detect aromas of plum wine, raisin syrup, lovage, dark chocolate, leather, nuts, refreshing mint, and orange peel. Moderately complex. A good balance between sweetness and dryness on the palate. The alcohol is well integrated, and it has a heavy body.

Well, this one didn't really grab me. It was pretty overpowered by the sherry cask; fruity, yes, but there was practically nothing left of the distillate. The rubbery/slightly sulfurous finish unfortunately didn't help matters...
Scent: I smell raisins, plums, along with salted apple, lemon peel and unripe pineapple, behind which come wet wood, beeswax and a clear mineral note; over time, walnut shell and polished wood are added. Taste: Heavy, with dried fruits like raisins and dates, pleasantly sweet, oxidized apple, tart oranges, slightly burnt caramel, balsamic vinegar, then oak, somewhat bitter, nutty and a little dusty, salt can be heard in the background. Finish: Long, dry and warming, nutty, more raisins, tobacco and licorice, spicy oak and somehow ash. Conclusion: For me, this is an absolutely fantastic sherry! It doesn't feel trendy, but rather calm, complex, and profound. Not a whisky for quick enjoyment, but one that demands concentration and richly rewards it.

In my top 3 this year - and I had lots of good malts. Old school almost paxarette style like from back in the days. Rancio, fat, syrupy bitter sweet juice.

| Вкус | 94 | Hell yeah! Thick savoury juice. A hint of balsamico di Modena, rancio, dates and raisins. Bitter Seville oranges at the end. Wet juicy prunes, tannins not too heavy. No sulphur. I do not get much of Glen Scotia character. The PX is just too powerful. Nevertheless a unicorn nowadays. Very complex old school malt on par with famous sherry maturations from days gone by. It is just a finish but a very good one. Alcohol is hardly noticable, I wish it had a little more. |

Nose: Mature oak, honey, dark toffee, dried fruit, subtle maritime saltiness, light spice notes. Palate: Structured and dry-elegant. Spicy oak, sherry influence (raisins, dark chocolate), delicate sweetness, subtle smoke, salty undertone. Finish: Long, spicy, slightly bitter, with tea, salt and restrained fruit sweetness. Rating: A very well-matured Campbeltown malt with a clear structure, depth, and controlled wood influence. For me, this is the more interesting version compared to the 25-year-old original bottling.

Tha aroma is sherry-forward, and the taste is very sweet, PX clearly dominates here. It is still good as a generic sherry‑matured whisky, but not much of the Glen Scotia character remains.
A 26yo Glen Scotia. A finish in PX cask for 6+ years. Not a sweet, dry sherry, dirty whisky this. A strong savoury & herbaceous flavour reigns in this whisky. I simply love it. A lot of depth, age reflects in the palate & finish. No clumsiness. I believe a terrific cask pick from Cadenhead’s. Umami, soy sauce, dark caramel sans sweetness, black tea, prunes, figs, amber.. mouth coating. A good lusciousness (waxy, toffee..?) on the palate. The only sweetness is more like tropical fruitiness and not sugar-y. This makes me like this whisky more. An earthy note also prevails. Should score pretty high. A high score from me.
