At first it's woody and bitter. Time in the glass helps a lot. After that it's completely round and complex. Now the notes stated by the manufacturer come through. Nutty notes on the finish. For £86, could be an insider tip... 86-90 – Wow, really good one, need a bottle

Delicious, easy-drinking, with vintage vibes.

I was looking forward to it. Freshly opened today, it hasn't had time to oxidize yet. I was also too greedy to let him breathe long. But I like it quite a bit right off the bat. Nose, mouth and interception show very different facets, so I give everything another point compared to the first impulse (88-89-87) Edit Mar 2022: I fully confirm the rating. The barrel vatting seems so good that even further oxidation cannot add anything. 2-3% more alcohol could have made for a more stable finish and an even higher rating.

Right from the start I have a very present note of sweet-sour, slightly fermented fruit in the nose. It smells exotic. Towards passion fruit and overripe pineapple. The influence of the Madeira barrel seems quite dominant to me. I also imagine a very slight sulfur note. In general, the fruit also has a very spicy aroma. With a little distance from the glass I also get notes of toffee and dark baked raisin bun. The bottom line is that the predominantly sour fruitiness remains clearly dominant. Initially very smooth on the tongue. Can't really decide whether he wants to be sour or sweet. But in the end you decide on the sweetness. Even if the exotic fruitiness from the nose with the slight sour note remains permanently present. It's nice and malty now. The bourbon influence is much more evident on the tongue than on the nose. The alcohol strength is very well chosen. Becomes really chocolaty and creamy towards the end. Stays behind for a long time. Great finish with bitter notes of dark chocolate and Earl Gray tea. I've now spent a good 50 minutes with him, but emotionally that wasn't enough. I think it can keep you busy for an entire evening. Very multifaceted. I really liked it. Albeit completely different than anything I've ever had from Deanston in my glass. I just find the Madeira influence a bit too expressive compared to the other barrels. 88p from me.

Fascinating what has been created here. In my opinion, you can taste every type of cask. The nose is dominated by the Madeira cask and the Bourbon cask with notes of sour sherry. In the taste, you notice that there is old refill in it and it has a great sour-tropical note that you know from old ExBC. Beautiful stuff. How much did it cost? For the original €100, it's a really tasty thing. You can do that. Over €120 would probably be a bit too much.
