В аромате — окислительный херес, лесной мёд, компот из старомодных слив, груш и ягод, орехи и сухой дуб; у части дегустаторов проступают сера, резина, кожа и токайская «нечистота», которая одних отталкивает, других привлекает. Вкус насыщенный и силовой: варенье из лесных ягод и апельсиновый мармелад, затем гвоздика, корица и перец, тёмные тона орехов, горького шоколада, кожи и предельно сушёной сливы; послевкусие долгое, с сухофруктами, рождественским кексом, дубовой пряностью и мёдом. Хвалят богатство, слоистость фруктовости и достойную выдержку бочки, сожалея лишь, что молту дали лишь восемь лет. Расхождения заметны: самые опытные ставят высокие оценки за баланс и многослойность и почти не улавливают серу, тогда как менее авторитетные жалуются на неинтегрированный, резкий спирт, требующий воды и времени, и на искусственно-сладкие тона колы, вишнёвого леденца и жевательного мармелада. Отдельные критики отмечают, что бочка полностью подавила характер винокурни, оставив дубовую горечь. Оценки при этом держатся плотно (в основном 83–91), сходясь на том, что это выразительный, но требовательный молт для любителей хереса и серы.

This is a whisky that shouldn't be rushed. A powerhouse, but ultimately rewarding if you spend time with it.

Pretty amazing whisky with multiple layers of fruitiness, dried plum, sultanas, dried apricot, candied red berries, a roasty nuttiness and honey. Very well balanced, the development being a bit on the spicy side of the spectrum with cinnamon and pimenta and finally a sudden rush of hard stawberry candy at the back of the throat. Don't really get the sulfur comments other reviewers give here as I'm quite sensitive to it and just don't pick up any at all. A really great cask has been used here which really makes you wonder what direction this whisky would have taken after spending something like 18 in stead of 8 years in this butt.

A surprising dram that might not appeal to anyone. It could be borderline sulphur-alert to some of you, but I find it pleasant. The nose smells rather sweet and jammy, where the palate and especially the finish are revealing spice and darker notes of nuts and chocolate. I recommend to add some water, even afer considerable breathing time.
Нос 87 The nose is quite funky, even after giving this whisky some air. It's the combination of some sulphur, rubber, and tokaji wine. It may sound awful but in fact it doesn't displease me, I rather like it. It's jammy, on forest fruit, with a slight nuttiness of almond, a hint of dark chocolate and some fresh green herbs intermingling. Maybe a hint of old leather and prune.
Вкус 85 Rich, but quite powerful too. Still jammy on forest fruit, along with orange marmalade, then spicy on clove, fresh cinnamon and pepper. Some pine needle or juniper, hazelnut, and then some darker elements like spent matches, worn leather and ultra-dried prune. Tobacco leaf and bitter chocolate too. As sweet as it seemed in the nose, the fiercer it gets in the mouth.
Финиш 85 Long, lingering, with a mixture of dried fruit, Christmas cake, dunnage warehouse, old leather and ultra-dried prune. Some spice from cinnamon, clove, caraway, ginger, with mixed nuts, wet oak, ground coffee and some honeyed barley.

Нос 91 Wonderfully complex! Aromatic, slightly oxidative sherry, cinnamon, forest honey, compote-like fruit notes of old-fashioned plums, pears, apples and berries such as rock pears. Little by little, slightly herbaceous notes, dry oak and walnuts follow. With water: Starts delicate and honey-like. Little by little, tart herbs, oak, plum compote and juicy Hutzelbrot follow. Really very nice!
Вкус 91 Powerful start full of dry oak, sherry, fine spices, all kinds of dried fruit, bouquets full of dried flowers, jute sacks, forest honey and late compote-like fruit notes. Wonderful! With water: excellently balanced and of wonderful weight! Sherry, oak, nuts, plum compote, orange zest, herbaceous accents, some tobacco and a hint of dry earth.
Финиш 90 Very long, sherry, oak, muscat notes and dried fruit.

It's delicious, no question about it. But it doesn't offer me what I normally look for in a single malt. The nose is a little unbalanced, slightly alcoholic. It has a hint of fruit brandy. I'm not sure if I would have put it in Scotland in a blind tasting. Lots of artificial aromas on the nose. Cola flavors. Gummy bears. Cherry Coke. The whole thing is very alcoholic. Much more pleasant on the tongue. Surprisingly pleasant considering the high alcohol content, although a few drops of water would do it some good. Very spicy. Clove. Cinnamon. A little Ricola. But that sweet (cherry) cola note is still omnipresent. I'm excited to see how the distillery develops. It tastes completely different. But anything but bad.

Sniff: Full on oloroso sherry with its yeast, spices and slight bitterness. Some dried fruits, oak, a lot of cask influence. Sip: Sharp, dry and with a lot of cask focused bitterness. Some apricot and almond. Oak, lots of oak. Swallow: The finish mellows a bit. There's more room for some sweetness, a bit more fruit too. Almost only the cask, without any distillery character to be had.

Tasted this at the Whisky Event Eindhoven 2024, so these are basically the notes I jotted down on the spot. This is a dram that will fill an entire evening. Delicious, powerful, yet sweet with a very long finish. Would love to own a bottle!
Нос 90 Walnut cabinet, wood, chocolate, raisins, and a bit dusty. Very rich and full, the high ABV doesn’t show as much as one would expect.
Вкус 88 A bit dry, ginger, walnut, tannins (but nice and round), some gentle sweetness and tobacco.
Финиш 88 Bubble gum, ginger, oak, nuts. Becomes mild rather quickly, but remains rich and full, with mint and sweet notes.

Нос 86 The nose is a bit alcoholic but gets better with time
Вкус 88 First taste of alcohol, then it gets better and you get fruit and chocolate
Финиш 89 The finish is really good mainly cherry lollipop and the quite long

All in all a nice whisky that is fun - nothing complex but exciting for sulphur fans. Alcohol is noticeable in the nose if you stuff your nose in too far - otherwise you can focus well on the aromas. With water, little changes.
