Насыщенный олоросо-профиль: тёмные сушёные фрукты, шоколад, кофе и кожа на медовой основе Deanston. Опытные ставят умеренно (85–88), рядовые чуть щедрее; общий разброс невелик, слабое место — лёгкая горчинка в послевкусии.

В аромате преобладают красные и лесные ягоды (клубника, черника, ежевика), тёмная слива, изюм и чернослив, поверх сырой земли и осенней листвы; отмечают шоколад, кофе и хорошо интегрированный спирт, лишь изредка проскакивают спиртовые ноты. Вкус плотный и маслянистый, пряный (корица, гвоздика, мускат, чёрный перец), с тёмным шоколадом, ирисом, лакрицей, кожей и тёмными фруктами, переходящими в кофе и сладкий табак; тело полное, насыщенное. Послевкусие долгое, с возвратом влажной земли и кожи, фруктовым соком, шоколадом и пряностями. Хвалят за баланс, глубину хереса олоросо и узнаваемую медовую основу дистиллерии; главная и почти единственная претензия — лёгкая горчинка на финале, из-за которой оценки упираются в потолок.
Оценки согласованны: опытные держатся в диапазоне 85–91 (медиана около 88), рядовые — 84–90 с несколькими восторженными выбросами до 95, причём высшие баллы авторы сами объясняют личной любовью к Deanston и бочкам олоросо. Расхождение невелико: опытные чуть сдержаннее и прямо указывают на избыточную остроту и горчинку, тогда как остальные охотнее прощают эти шероховатости, но профиль и вердикт у обеих групп совпадают.
Very balanced whisky, a lot of red fruits, berries and prunes, some leather. This one makes me once again remember why I appreciate Oloroso cask-influenced whisky's so much.

Tasted during a sublime BYOB, the 15th of February 2025, at Koetshuis Heven, Rheden red fruit, thick syrup, swee yet peppery, herbal, hot and perhaps a tad too much for my liking.

Wow, I didn't expect that. Smells really strong, alcohol perfectly integrated in the nose. Beautiful Oloroso with fruit and at the same time dark depth. Nice start. The slightly bitter finish alone stands in the way of 91 points.

Sherry, dark dried fruits, dark chocolate, citric, malt, oak wood, vegetable soup, honey, rhubarb, caramel, orange. Slightly sharp, piquant, very little drying, good texture, creamy, light caramel sweetness, good body and good intensity.

Wow what an outstanding whisky! I must of course not fail to mention that I am biased because, on the one hand, I am a great Deanston lover and, on the other hand, ex-Oloroso barrels are my favorite barrels for whisky. Still, a single malt can hardly suit my taste better. I was already extremely fond of 21-year-old Oloroso-Deanston from Maltman (ID: 120862), but these three years and the higher percentages make this combination even more valuable. The alcohol is almost perfectly integrated. It works in the mouth and on the tongue as if it had less than 50%. I have all the great Oloroso grades for this. Dark chocolate, dried fruits and, above all, a really wonderful note of coffee. And yet the typical Deanston honey character is clearly recognizable underneath, with both taste profiles harmonizing perfectly with each other. Certainly my preference for Deanston and Olororo ripening flows into my rating. I still have to rate it so highly because otherwise the question simply arises of where the room for improvement should come from. A whisky can't really suit my personal taste better.
