Good level of complexity, really balanced and drinkable - pretty good

Quick hit review. No age statement and a hefty price tag - let's see if Triskelion can deliver. On the nose, I get ripe peaches, baked apples and dry coal smoke, rounded off by hints of juniper and peppercorn. Not bad. Zesty citrus fruits, rich oak spices and typical Highland Park peatiness dominate the taste, it is quite aromatic and not very sweet. The slightly dry finish is marked by orange zest, almonds and ash. It started out promising but fell a bit short of expectations afterwards. RATING: 3.5/5.0 stars ≙ 84 pts → ABOVE AVERAGE

Very typical modern Highland Park. Lots of vanilla biscuits and a decent dose of peat.

Whisky has too many sharp corners, no roundness. Good for thrills.

An interesting release, but the smokiness is felt only on the aftertaste. Water reveals the finish, but kills smell and taste.

an (over) expensive HP that needs a lot of time to unfold - air is good for whisky. Pleasant on the nose, without an ostensibly clearly defined aroma, but very well balanced between sweetness, fruit and sherry tones. But that is precisely why that makes it so "weak" in my eyes, it is "arbitrary", "interchangeable", nothing to be remembered. Quite complex in taste: there is always something new to find; But even here nothing remains in the head in terms of taste. The finish ... well, could be longer. Don't get it wrong: the Triskelion is not bad (especially in the nose and in the taste), but still doesn't knock you off your feet - for around € 170-190, in my opinion, it is clearly too expensive for this whisky. Vlt. are my expectations simply too high in this price segment? What would I be willing to pay right now? In terms of price, * I * would set this malt somewhere between 80 and a maximum of 100 euros. Yes, yes, price increases everywhere, etc., may be yes, but this malt is not worth more in my eyes. Maybe only one master blender should have said what's in there, but three master blenders don't make the whisky three times as good. Sorry HP, my opinion (and that as an HP fan, * shaking your head *). it has to be retested after a certain period of time; currently: 83/100; Post-test: I had originally pushed it to the day form, but the post-test (2 months later) brought practically the same thing: I stay at 83/100 [86 - 82 = good whisky -> get a second bottle? Maybe ... in this case: no, not at this price; @ Highland Park: brings this malt out 100 euros cheaper, then I could think again about the PLV and more points, but so ... boy, boy, what were you thinking?] Tip: get a sample first!

A nice NAS of Highland Park. With this they show that an age is not always necessary, but the price can be called considerable. For much less you already have the beautiful HP 18 yrs

Pretty disippointing like a lot of NAS nowadays.
