В аромате мощный, поначалу резковатый и ацетоновый настрой, раскрывающийся за 20–60 минут в густой олоросо-херес: кожа, мебельная полироль, вишня амарена, тёмный шоколад, сушёные фрукты, ром-кола, пропитанные ромом бочонки. Во вкусе сильная, полнотелая атака с почти незаметным спиртом при высокой крепости, преобладание вишни и тёмных фруктов, сливовый джем, чили-шоколад, табак, замшевая кожа, пряности (мускат, корица, гвоздика), мясистость. Послевкусие длинное, тёплое, сладкое, сбалансированное, с вишней в шоколаде и хересом, без явных дефектных нот у большинства. Хвалят плотность, отсутствие ощущения спирта, десертную многослойность и то, что напиток раскрывается от воздуха сильнее, чем от воды; напиток не для новичков и требует времени в бокале. Опытные ревьюеры ставят 87–89 и считают средний рейтинг заниженным, подозревая в основе Mortlach и полное созревание в олоросо; расхождение с общей массой невелико — большинство оценок держится в диапазоне 86–88, что говорит о высокой согласованности. Единичные низкие баллы (82) исходят от тех, кому бочка показалась «грязной», разбалансированной или подпорченной, хотя многие прямо отмечают отсутствие серы; в слепой дегустации крепость и возраст сильно недооценивали, а происхождение угадать было трудно из-за сильного влияния бочки.

It’s a beast, as stated. Nothing for beginners. Profit massiv from air (more then from water). Give Azrael a little time….or enjoy at a fullmoon…lol. Great dram

I wonder why this Blended Malt on the WB website has an average rating of slightly above 85 points. For me personally, this is a very strong whisky, both in terms of overall evaluation and the "voltage" itself. It's intensely fruity with a subtle hint of chili spice, but also with hints of cigar. The alcohol is completely imperceptible, even though it's a whopping 63.5% (admittedly, the glass of whisky waited over an hour for the tasting). I can't say it's a light and easy-to-sip whisky, typical for summer, but it's not overly sweet or sticky, typical for winter either. It's definitely worth trying and judging based on your own scale and range.

A very strong blend; I mistook it for a single malt in a blind tasting. Mortlach, quite possibly the lead malt.
Нос 90 It smells of full maturation in Oloroso casks, very much sherry, also leather, Amarena cherries, and chocolate. It needs some time – yes – but it's worth giving it, as the nose is initially quite acetone-like.
Вкус 88 Strong start, full, chili-chocolate, tobacco, dark fruits and quite a lot of sweetness, which is initially masked by the start.
Финиш 90 Long, full-bodied, cherries, sherry, a wonderfully balanced finish.

A sherry board in front of the gentleman. So “Dark side” describes it quite well. It is strange why an average of only 85 points is awarded here. Maybe there's a penalty for blends. If this had been bottled as Glenallachie, for example, there would certainly be a 90+x hype in the reviews. For me it's a 90. There's definitely a Mortlach in there, I'm going out on a limb there. Nose: Leather, furniture polish, thick sherry, where's the alcohol? No sulfur. Taste: Round, reminiscent of old Guyana rums, malty, Very dark fruits, black currant, Could there be a port cask in there? Spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, star anise, Franconian gingerbread with sauce, sauerbraten. Meaty...here comes the Mortlach. Finish: No off notes, long and warm. Somehow appetizing. Great work that was done in Paderborn. Reminds me a bit of the legendary Glenrothes from 1997.

All kinds of dessert rolled into one. Coffee with cinnamon and nutmeg, Warm dark chocolate sauce, milk chocolate with cherries... Just lovely.

Die Bewertungen von aktuell ca 85 Punkten werden dieser Sherrybombe meines Erachtens nach nicht gerecht. Die Nase ist zunächst sehr kraftvoll und man muss dem Stoff ca 20 Minuten Zeit im Glas geben um sich zu entwickeln. Dann ist der beissende Alkohol verflogen und man bekommt eine sehr dichte, schöne Oloroso? Sherrynase mit viel Gewürzen, Leder, Schokolade, Kirsche und Rum-Cola Aroma geschenkt. Im Mund dann ein sehr kräftiger Antritt. Wenige Tropfen reichen um ein Prickeln auf der Zunge zu erzeugen. Ein sehr dichter, sehr fassgetriebener Stoff, schwer die Destillerie zu erkennen. Erinnert am ehesten an Edradour Straight from the Cask Abfüllungen. Herrlich lecker mit langem Abgang. Wird mit wenig Wasser gefälliger, verliert dann aber in der Nase ein paar Punkte. Insgesamt ein sehr gelungener Stoff, der im Blindtasting von den Verkostenden als lediglich 10 bis 12jährig geschätzt wurde, das macht ihn aber nicht weniger lecker.
