В аромате отмечают типичный для Edradour пряно-сладкий строй: ваниль, мёд, спелые тёмные ягоды и вишню, апельсин, лимон, оттенки клубники и смородины, а также орехи (грецкий, фундук), тёмный шоколад и порошковую сладость; хересные ноты выражены, но благодаря повторно залитым и, вероятно, бурбонным бочкам версия светлее и легче прежней. Вкус плотный, маслянисто-сливочный, без водянистости: сначала обилие карамели и ванили, затем фрукты, вишня и ягоды, теряющие кислотность к концу, с лёгкой пряностью. Послевкусие описывают как чуть менее гладкое и короткое: ягодно-кислая сладость уходит, оставляя ваниль, карамель, сухую ореховость, тёмный шоколад и пряный дубовый оттенок. Опытные ревьюеры сходятся в том, что переход с 40% на 43% заметно улучшил напиток, придав ему глубину, баланс и целостность: его называют по-настоящему хорошим доступным стандартом, удачной альтернативой другим спейсайдам и отличным входом в мир виски, отмечая отсутствие спиртовой резкости и умелую сборку; лёгкая критика касается нехватки сложности в аромате и не самого гладкого послевкусия. Основная масса оценок держится плотно в диапазоне 82–87, что говорит о высокой согласованности. Резко выбивается лишь одна крайне низкая оценка (25): её автор описывает металлический, горький, ореховый вкус со старым маслом, попкорном и мыльным оттенком дешёвого мотеля — единичное мнение, идущее вразрез с остальным консенсусом.

Especially since I found the previous version, bottled at only 40%, so subpar, I have to emphasize right away that I'm extremely pleasantly surprised by the new 43% version. A truly beautiful and balanced bottling. Anyone entering the world of whisky with this will definitely be captivated and want to try more. Now the 10-year-old has finally become a truly great standard. We'll see how much the batches differ in the future.

Unexpectedly good, fantastic value for money!
Нос 83 The typical Edradour nose, very spicy and sweet, vanilla, honey, sour currant, strawberry, oranges, lemon, a touch of cherry, very positive even for Edradour, but still not outstanding, as it lacks complexity.
Вкус 89 For 43% ABV, it's quite respectable; again, typical Edradour – no wateriness, initially lots of caramel and vanilla, very sweet, then fruit comes through, oranges, again the berry notes, the currants lose some acidity, becoming milder and milder towards the finish.
Финиш 85 While other whiskies often have a mild and pleasing finish, this one isn't quite so smooth. It's milder, with vanilla and caramel notes emerging, but it lacks the berry, tart, and sweet character. Not that this is a bad thing—the finish is excellent—but after enjoying this almost perfect Edradour blend, you naturally crave more. At least a touch of delicious chocolate emerges at the very end.

I, too, must conclude that the extra 3% is a definite improvement. It gives this bottling significantly more depth, especially on the nose and finish. Definitely one of the better standard bottlings and certainly worth the money.
Нос 82 Dark, ripe berries. Sweet and juicy cherries. Powdery sweetness. Plus a mix of walnuts and hazelnuts.
Вкус 81 A creamy, oily mouthfeel, though lighter than the nose would have suggested. Cherries and a few slightly tingling spices.
Финиш 84 Cherries and raisins give way to a dry nuttiness. A touch of dark chocolate and spices. Subtly spicy oak in the aftertaste, very nice.

Neck pour: The additional 3% is a significant upgrade Adding intensity from start to finish The Edradour dna is there and combines well with the sherry - dirty marzipan notes. Less sherry forward than the 40%er and color corroborates. So more second fill sherry and/or ex-bourbon casks in the mix makes it somewhat brighter and lighter. A good alternative to the Bunna 12 for my palate.

It is very approachable without being boring. With younger sherried edradour, I often get superficial red fruits like that are not well integrated and also something like alcoholic 'heat', like being too quickly fermented. I find the same fruitiness here, too, rather bright/fresh red fruit like cherries than dates or figs, but it doesn't feel seperate and there is a certain depth to it with dark caramel and wood spices (more on refill casks I guess). It has a distinct speyside distillery character, but I don't get any alcoholic nip, it is very well balanced and skillfully composed.

I don't want to come off as a hater or a score killer like most weirdos attempt to, but this is not my dram. Very old butter over freshly popped popcorn. Metallic and cold, leeching metal flavor. Bitter and very nutty. Dry sweetness, but doesn't commit in either direction which is very conflicting. Smell of a freshly used (free) bar of soap after a hot shower at very cheap motel. Someone please tell me I'm way off base, but I'd rather have anything other than this and I am halfway through this bottle.
