В аромате — торф с умеренным дымом, лимонная и апельсиновая цедра, сушёные яблоки и абрикосы, жевательный мармелад, а поверх всего отчётливая солёно-морская минеральность и влажный песок; хереса, вопреки заявленной высокой доле бочек, почти не читается — лишь тёмный, тягучий фон и намёк на красные фрукты. Вкус кремовый и маслянистый, с яркими цитрусами, косточковыми фруктами, кожей, специями и солоноватым дымным спиртом; послевкусие у большинства долгое, солёное, смолисто-сажевое, с медом и орехами, хотя часть авторов находит его коротковатым для 21 года и водянистую, разбавленную текстуру. Опытные ревьюеры оценивают релиз заметно выше и щедрее описывают его глубину, кремовость и способность раскрываться в бокале, отмечая при сравнении с версией 2019 года более грубый, дымный и деревенский характер; один даже удивляется, что при 95% хересных бочек напиток звучит скорее как торфяно-минеральный. Остальные оценки ровнее держатся у 86–90 и содержат больше критики: приглушённый, «приручённый» возрастом торф, слабые маркеры винокурни, затхлые коровниково-складские ноты, серно-грейпфрутовая горчинка и ощущение нехватки плотности и крепости за свою цену. Расхождение признают и сами авторы («мнения об этом 21-летнем сильно расходятся»), но общий разброс невелик, а профиль — солёный, дымный, фруктово-минеральный Longrow — описывают согласованно.

It's hard to believe that the cask ratio here is 95% sherry to 5% bourbon. It smells and tastes as if it were the other way around. Delicious!
Нос 92 Fascinating: I get more smoke here than in some much younger Longrows. Dried apple slices and apricots, apricot kernels, lime zest, pineapple, gummy bears. Damp sand, salty sea spray, very mineral.
Вкус 90 A wonderfully creamy opening with bright fruits, peat smoke, and mineral notes. Dried apple, apricots, citrus juice, sweet-tart grapefruit, oranges, and gummy bears. It sounds like it's going to be quite a fruit bomb on the palate, but the mineral notes and peat smoke keep it from getting that far.
Финиш 90 Long, creamy, sweet-tart finish with a still distinct peat smoke note, gummy bear flavor, honey and hazelnuts.

Oh, very fine peat nose! Little smoke, lots of peat, with a hint of lemon. I don't notice much sherry, but it's still excellent! Looks old and noble!

The aroma is more or less good, though weak (expected more), but the taste is sour-bitter-prickly, as if chewing a grapefruit peel ... the aftertaste is not remembered, quite short 22-21,5-21,5-22

Comparison with the 2019 (WB158833), which has the edge on the nose but offers less punch on the palate. Nevertheless: If I had to choose, I would probably go for the 2019.
Нос 89 Lots of sherry, lots of smoke. Behind that, great maritime minerality. At first it seems surprisingly yeasty and youthful, the 21 years come out much more in the 2019. But that settles down, it steadily gains depth with time in the glass. At first 87-88, after a while 89-90 points. The 2020 is more straightforward, but hardly less brilliant than the 2019. This one is more rustic, smokier, herbaceous, perhaps more for straight-up peatheads, while the 2019 comes across as more broadly diversified, more mature, more elegant, more subtle and more complex.
Вкус 90 Strong barn notes, plus dark sherry, lots of wood and a salty, maritime, peated spirit. A completely different story to the 2019 vintage, which was strangely weak on the palate. This one certainly cannot be accused of lacking presence and/or assertiveness.
Финиш 90 Salty, leathery, greasy-oily, sooty-tarry-ashy, intense -- simply an experience.

Icing sugar. Sweet smoke, set with vanilla, with a zest of lemon and a few jets of mirabelle plum juice. Coconut ice cream. Iodine, but very thin. Then again white fruits, candied. Cane syrup. In the mouth, a nice intensity, spices, leather, yellow plums, quinces. Raisins. Paprika, cumin, ginger. The finish leaves me a little on my hunger, very greedy however, sponge cake, pastry cream, vanilla éclair, icing. Some farmy reflections, but very discreet. Dry straw, gray earth. Has everything I expect from a Longrow. Dirty, smoky, salty - complexly bound together by age - a few drops of water does it a lot of good

Blender glass. I think it's really tasty and really good. But for a 21 year old Campletown at the price, something is missing. In particular, percentages and a ticking more width, but also depth. Still a very, very nice pleasure whisky.
Нос 89 .5 I like the nose in the Blenders very, very much. Exciting mixture of smoke, orange, a bit maritime. In any case, extremely round. I lack the depth and complexity a bit. It is so round and smells so delicious that I could smell it for hours, but unfortunately I could fall asleep with a satisfied grin. After 20 minutes a lot of the salt, maritime, sweet note of a very soft, but ripe Laga, without any lushness, whereby the smoke has taken a back seat.
Финиш 88 .5 A bit of sweet, saltiness remains on the palate, but the finish is not really long for 21 years. With time in the glass, however, the finish becomes wider.

A great bottling where the smoke is never in the foreground but is always present. The fact that this is a Longrow is clearly recognizable and therefore offers the flavors to be expected. A must for every Longrow fan.

Opinions on this 21 are very far apart - unfortunately I have to say that it couldn't fully convince me, even if the mixture of creamy chestnuts, vanilla sugar and cocoa with the smoky note that has been clearly tamed after 21 years is quite exciting. Maybe the competition in the lineup was just too strong on this tasting evening.

A gentle smoke transports nut and oak as aromas. The sweetness and spiciness of oak and tobacco on the palate, then very dry sherry and a bit of fermenting apple in the aftertaste. A velvet aroma cover distributes the changing taste to all receptors. A small miracle for the nose, a big one for the mouth and tongue, a remarkable event long after the glass has been emptied.

Closed and uninteresting nose without development. Distantly reminiscent of Springbank's rubbery shades. The taste is bitter and dry. Feeling of old shabby wood. The aftertaste is characterless and rather weak. It’s even somehow strange that it was bottled and sold. Precisely for this money it makes no sense to buy it. Nose - 21 Taste - 22 Finish - 21 Balance - 22 Rating - 86 P.S. - Sober Attempt # 2 Breathing bottle is much better. But not a masterpiece. Everything is a little bit better ... 87 So if you drink it with a bottle, but not with samples... Nose - 21,5 Taste - 22 Finish - 21,5 Balance - 22 Rating - 87 P.S. - Not a very sober attempt # 3. The typical deliciously filthy Springbank profile with the smoke subtly in the background. Precisely balanced and elegant. Like a healthy Scottish farm girl with curves and style who knows when to shut up. Can't detect the 5% bourbon in it and yet it may be just that which makes it so special. Fantastic. No water needed.

Sampled tonight at the Good Spirits Co. virtual tasting. This is excellent - 90s across the board from me. The nose is really unusual, with loads of coal smoke (it really is like nosing a bag of anthracite) and dirty concrete. The coal translates into the palate, which is incredibly oily. And the continuity of flavour holds on into the finish, which delivers dusty smoke for a long time. A beautifully composed and coherent, old-school dram.

Intriguing complex nose of peat smoke, sweet sherry, spices, ripe pineapple, brown sugar and toffee. Loverly arrival, maintaining the impressions from the nose, however, surprisingly, fades away somewhat quickly. Nevertheless, warming finish with sweetness and spices in a happy symbiosis.

Финиш 88 The lingering scent of an extinguished campfire, a hint of fruitiness intertwined with earthy notes.

You wouldn't guess this is 90% sherry cask; it's a completely different story, but it's absolutely beautiful.
Нос 89 Cream, vanilla, herbs, yellow fruit, a touch of smoke, oiliness, minerality, sea breeze.
Вкус 90 Smooth on the palate, with a beautiful fruity flavor, hints of herbs, a touch of smoke, citrus, and orange notes; the fruit flavor is very rich.

The aroma is closed, sweetish. Oily, coniferous - herbal motives, barnyard, dried fruits, minerality, spices, duchess. Noble tobacco shades, dusty barn, red orange and some industrial notes. The taste is sweet with bitterness. Smoky - citrus duo, light minerality, ash, shades of chocolate, spicy spices, barrel. The finish is longer than average. Spicy spices, ash, berry sourness, woody - tobacco history, pleasant bitterness. Conclusion: It seems to be not bad on the one hand, but on the other it is not very good. The aroma is closed, twisted it, twisted it this way and that, it does not want to go into dialogue, it also has no desire to develop, everything that it gave out at the first meeting, it will take all yours and then look back. Taste with a finish does not please with a palette of tastes, rather rustic for 21 years. The release of 2019 is inferior enough. Evaluation with great interference.
