It's a notch better than the 10YO, but it's not a bottle I will go searching for.

Sweet with fruits and citrus. A bit too much peppery spice for my liking. Water brings it down, but too much and it goes a bit dull. |

About medium in length. Again a bit too much spice for the ABV. |
Pleasant Speyburn, not a sherry bomb, but quite complex with an affordable price.
Amber color. Quite oily structure. The sample may have been oxidized.

A rather volatile nose filled with fruit aromas. Quite pleasant. Orchard fruit. Red apples. Red fruit. Dried fruit. Lots of raisins. Ripe cherries. Black cherries. Milk chocolate with raisins. Red apples again, only this time covered in caramel. Milk chocolate with hazelnuts. Nougat. Maybe a touch of honey. Aromas of fortified wine. |

https://whiskylovingpianist.wordpress.com/2018/09/03/inverhouse-at-the-fringe N: Much like the 10yo but with more roundness, less candy fruits and more malty & citrus depth. The nose is rather fine. T: This is far better than the 10yo, having shaken off those fermented & floury issues. Stays malty with varied fruity action and a far better body by comparison. F: It’s still a bit ‘funny’ [almost butyric & resinous], but there are improvements over the 10yo in all departments. C: Scores a few marks more than its younger sibling, much of that down the nose alone. Scores a C[-]

Overall, the Speyburn 15 Years is flavourful, but could up the balance and complexity.
Pretty high-quality nose; dependable on the palate.

Initially unsweetened, dark cocoa powder and something dry and dusty. Then a sweet-and-sour fruitiness appears: kiwi and pineapple. Buttermilk and bananas. Malty, with porridge and cookie dough. Displays a roasted, slightly bitter aspect as well - coffee grounds? After the first sip, oodles of golden syrup join in. All in all, a pleasant and multifaceted nose that allows for some permutation. Perhaps a bit ... middle of the road, but certainly the result of good cask selection and thoughtful blending. |

Without water, it seems a bit sour / sharp initially (though it's the first dram of the day, so that might be the primary reason...). Gets sweeter and more approachable with a drop of water (or time in the glass). Now there's marshmellows, custard, syrup, banana bread. Goes from sour to sweet to bitter at the death with no big surprises, and basically repeats the aromas from the nose. An honest, no-frills sipping whisky that neither astounds nor disappoints. |

Pepper, ginger, lemon and apple juice, some soft coffee notes. Quite a nice, spicy kick from the oak. No huge staying power and a bit of a wacky sour/tart touch, but it’s not too disturbing. |

Warm fruity and creamy notes, long-lasting finish |
A round, somewhat brittle malt, with a sweet but also bitter sherry note and a lot of wood in the finish. Bittersweet, malty, light sherry... Quite robust and a little edgy. I like it though and it is a positive, independent standard.
A very pleasant surprise. Fresh, fruity, light whisky with a nice fruity profile, soft white pepper and light tannins. Great
Anyone who likes fruity, sweet sherry will be delighted by the nose. You can find a lot of nice smells there. Unfortunately, it is rather thin on the tongue and the finish is the problem. It's bitter to me and then the fruit flavors become more and more perfumed.

Speyburn has two bottlings that are interesting for whisky fans. There is the 18-year-old with more sherry influence and there is the 15-year-old. It matures in American & Spanish oak casks, which could be anything, but also suggests a bit of sherry. The whisky has 46% ABV and is not chill filtered and not colored, which is not prominently stated on the label but rather hidden in the text on the box. And Speyburn uses worm tubs as a condenser in the spirit still. So that could be something... glen-efze.de

Had it in a vertical tasting with Speyburn 10, 15, 18. Vet of 75% ref bourbon & 25% ref oloroso S - soft & smooth with fiery spices towards the end. 7 81-85 - Another dram welcomed
