Восковой прибрежно-минеральный хайленд старого стиля (вероятно Clynelish): цитрус, воск, тропические фрукты, лёгкий торф. Единодушно высокая оценка (около 90–91); спорят лишь о нехватке того самого «характера» и глубины для столь почтенного возраста.

В аромате доминируют лимонная цедра и цитрусы, воск, минералы и известняк, дубовая древесина, мёд, миндаль и марципан, ваниль, груша и жёлтые фрукты, с лёгкой солёной морской дымкой и тонким торфом. Вкус маслянистый и сливочный, плотный, с тропическими и жёлтыми фруктами (персик, манго, ананас), засахаренным лимоном, карамелизированным яблоком, воском, мёдом и перечной пряностью; спирт вписан образцово. Послевкусие длинное, тёплое, пряное, с воском, ванилью, цедрой и мягкой танинной горчинкой, у некоторых — с приятной солоноватой дымкой. Хвалят сложность, баланс, свежесть и характерную восковую минеральность, из-за которой многие уверенно опознают Clynelish (что подтверждается прайс-листом розлива). Опытные ревьюеры ставят преимущественно 88–92, отмечая мощь при балансе, но нескольким не хватает возрастной слоистости и того самого «характера»; отдельный опытный голос критикует вкус за избыточную сладость без дополнительных тонов и проступающий лаковый оттенок, тогда как аромат хвалит. Среди остальных встречаются и более восторженные 93 с прямым сравнением розливов 1983 года в пользу этого. Общее расхождение невелико: почти все оценки укладываются в 88–93, а главная претензия сходится у обеих групп — недобор интенсивности в аромате и предсказуемость развития для 36-летнего бочкового розлива, при этом восковой минеральный профиль признаётся всеми.

Powerful but balanced, good complexity, could well be a Clynelish even so rather a fruity one but with the typical minerals - very good
Нос 91 Intense, citric, lemon peel, minerals, limestone, oak wood, pepper, vanilla, hints of walnuts - very good
Вкус 92 Oily, creamy, fruity, subtle sweetness, mix of tropical and yellow fruits, little pineapple, peach, apple, citrus fruits, little vanilla, ginger, pepper - great
Финиш 90 Long, warm, spicy, more lemon peel and grapefruit

An interesting, sweet, dense release.
Нос 88 Dust and pollen, cherries plucked together with leaves and branches, not yet washed, cherry jam and tincture from it, lollipop.
Вкус 88 The taste is losing, too sweet without any extra tones. The varnish stood and appeared.
Финиш 89 sweet tones of plum jam that stay with you for a long time

Нос 88 Mild apple juice, sweet and spicy, wood terpenes (Finnish sauna logs). A little cautious at first.
Вкус 90 Blooms beautifully with honey and late summer aromas of a mudflat meadow and is fortunately only sweet in the background.
Финиш 90 Great beeswax note, lasts for a very long time together with mildly bitter tannins.

Another very good whisky, which almost went to the dark side on the palate but remained on the verge. 89.5
Нос 89 A fairly powerful nose of orange zest, lemon, dry wood, wax, light sea smoke. It's mineral, airy, with scone that brings it to the surface.
Вкус 89 Candied lemon, caramelized apple, scone, vanilla, wax, pepper, a little juicy yellow fruit, yellow peach and mango. It's really pretty, but we're at the limit of vanilla extract.
Финиш 91 Long finish on spices, vanilla, yellow peach, a little tropical, pepper, cardamom, a little smoke. Light freshness that accompanies this welcome smoke.

Good structure, complex and overall well balanced. With the character, that certain something could still be present.
Нос 92 Malt, citrus, almonds, fine peat, vanilla pudding, pear, roasted aromas. Harmonious, good complexity. Intensity barely pronounced.
Вкус 91 Green fruit, white bread, a little peppery, vanilla. Pressure of the aromas at medium plus. Balanced, soft and creamy, good body.
Финиш 92 Pear, powdered sugar, caramel, pepper. long, harmonious finish.

Whisky is very pleasant and drinkable, but you expect something more from a 36-year-old cask release... I didn’t see any interesting development, everything is rather flat, though solid
Нос 90 honey wax, wild flowers, linden and a little wormwood, mint, dusty dried fruits
Вкус 89 citruses in oil, dense, rich, but at the same time quite gentle. Alcohol is integrated superbly.

Directly compared to Highlander from Mancarella and Zanzibar in 1983. First of all. All three are very good! Even though it is often said that this is the same broth, the Highlander Whisky Doris has significantly more structure. A bit balanced and very complex. Great fresh notes. I would actually suspect a Cly here! The best of all 1983 Highlanders so far!

On the nose marzipan, honey, lemons, wax, butter and almonds. On the palate there’s sweet cough syrup with more citrus and eucalyptus, moving into a salt and pepper caramel finish.

On the Whisky Doris pricelist on the website, this malt is listed under "Clynelish". I suppose we can end all speculation here... :-)

Delivered well in all 3 categories, the nose could have a little more pressure, tasty in the mouth, but remains relatively constant and predictable. I find the finish most interesting - nice fine bitterness that stays on the tongue forever. Be careful with the water, it doesn't take much.

Strong, imposing old style whisky with a strong start. Very complex and multi-layered. Overall very balanced. Probably a Clyne .... at least you seem to be very sure about that. Definitely excellent!
