Многие отмечают начальную клеевую или лаковую «бурбонную» ноту, которая со временем уходит, и хересные тёмные фрукты в удачных розливах. Вкус маслянистый и сливочный, с пряной перечной остротой, спелыми ягодами, вишней, ванилью и карамелью; послевкусие средней длины, шоколадно-кофейное, пряное, к концу подсыхающее с дубовыми танинами. Опытные ревьюеры оценивают виски ровно и высоко (в основном 85–90), хваля универсальность, «хамелеонство» профиля и шаг вперёд по кремовости относительно 12-летнего; лучшие отзывы подчёркивают тропическую фруктовость, приближающую его к более старым розливам. Основная критика — недостаток крепости: тело кажется слабоватым, интенсивность резко падает на вкусе после яркого аромата, и не одному автору хочется версию бочковой крепости. Отдельные голоса жалуются на дубовость, горчинку и танинность в финале, а самая низкая оценка (71) отдаёт предпочтение 12-летнему бочковой крепости. В остальном разброс мнений невелик — оценки согласованы, расхождения касаются лишь того, насколько сильно проявляется херес и тропические фрукты от партии к партии.

Quick hit review. After tasting the Lustau Edition and the 12-year-old, this Redbreast finally ticks all the boxes. On the nose, lemon peel, ginger and pronounced spices mingle with beeswax, butter cookies and notes of digging in a flower box. Pears, honey and drying oak emerge on the palate, and there is a potpourri of floral and herbal flavors. Firm mouthfeel. Probably the most versatile bottling in the Redbreast range. I already had batches in which the adhesive note was so intense that you could have typed blindly and "without guilty hesitation" on a bourbon. Then again there were bottlings, with the emphasis on dark and overripe berry notes. This one is a chameleon, offers a little bit of everything, even a hint of tropical fruits, which you can only find in colleagues who have matured for 21 years and longer. Highly recommended!

Нос	90	A mix of fresh blackberries and blueberries on the one hand and dried plums on the other, overripe grapes and raisins. A wonderful spice note that at first cannot be broken apart. Initially furniture polish or an adhesive note that may be reminiscent of bourbon. But that goes away. Tobacco, leather, almonds, dark chocolate, milk coffee. Now clove powder, bay leaves, nutmeg. Hazelnut crumbs.

This was not the case with previous editions of the 15yo. Mild spice - and slowly a little melon actually creeps forward. Dry wood, malt, sugar beet syrup, caramel.

Resistance The last time I put the Redbreast 2015 on the lips, dates back to 2010. Today the same whiskey is in the glass, but admittedly from a more recent bottling, namely 2019. The nose is a panoply of apples. Really, you can discover different species, but the dominant species is the Granny Smith. Some pepper and cinnamon on top and we have the essence. In the background some caramel and vanilla and a relatively firm spiciness (as I can actually expect from pot still). It is nice and creamy on the tongue (and in that sense a big step up from the 12-year-old) and in addition to the fruit and caramel, I get a lot of honey and a cartload of spices here. Nutmeg, hint of cloves but especially a lot of pepper. And it works. Delicious whiskey. In the finish it becomes drier, but it remains sufficiently juicy and fruity to resist the tannin. This is a really good Irish whiskey. And worth its price tag from 90 to 100 EUR. Thanks again, Benny!

I like it more than last time - less woody. Decent pot still Irish. Sherry, butterscotch, slightly fruity, oily pot still, vanilla, new wood.

Нос	83	Some sherry, a bit winey, lots of almonds, some damp wood, vanilla. Not that fruity. Some pot still oiliness. Chocolate, a little spice, quite woody.
Вкус	84	Initially light. Then some oloroso, maybe dark fruits but once again, it's not that fruity. Butterscotch, caramel, lots of vanilla, pot still oiliness. A bit of new wood and almonds. Some fruits emerge after a few sips.
Финиш	84	Lots of pot still oiliness now, followed by butterscotch and caramel. Red apples, cherries, cream, lots of vanilla. Some new wood but not too much.

A really beautiful and extremely fruity dessert bottling that looks great in the glass both in summer and winter.

Vanilla, honey, dried figs and apricots, hazelnut nougat cream, soft citrus notes, candied pineapple, honeydew melon, peach wine gum, light leather, fresh pastries, pickled plums, passion fruit cream, marzipan, ginger, white pepper, lemon balm, oak spice.
Вкус	87	It flows tinglingly into the mouth. There, it's beautifully creamy and slightly peppery. Here, the sweeter notes are joined by more sour fruity notes. Everything remains well balanced, though. Vanilla, grapefruit, hazelnut nougat cream, passion fruit, dried mango strips, lime zest, blood oranges, raspberries, black pepper, a hint of mint, mineral-salty notes, dried peaches, prunes, oak spice.

Great Redbreast, which I find better than the 21er.

Нос	90	Very fruity. Ripe berries, raisins and plums as well as dried fruits from the sherry. Then spicy aromas with leather and tobacco, tart cocoa chocolate and vanilla.
Вкус	90	The sherry notes with their dark, ripe fruits, berries, plums and cherries are at the forefront on the palate. Sweet. Also exotic fruits. Vanilla and a delicate spiciness.
Финиш	87	The aftertaste may even be long. Sweet with the ripe berries and marzipan chocolate.

Armed with Extreme Smoothness, but Is That Enough? As expected from triple-distilled Irish whiskey, it’s incredibly smooth. However, it’s uncertain whether the smoothness alone is enough to define the charm of this whiskey. Perhaps a cask strength (CS) version might be more appealing than the aged version.

Нос	86	N) Synthetic Vanilla, Milk, Whipped Cream, Butter Caramel, Nuts, Barley, Plywood The aroma is sweet and attractive but feels somewhat artificial. It’s reminiscent of synthetic vanilla from banana-flavored milk, with creamy notes of whipped cream on milk, and the rich, buttery scent of caramel lightly passing through the nose. Behind these light, artificial notes, there’s a nuttiness from the nuts and barley, along with a faint plywood-like woodiness.

The spices and the slightly peppery aromas with the many exotic fruits go well together. The pot-still character comes through very nicely and doesn't look too barrel-heavy. Basically everything I like about a pot still whiskey.

Нос	87	The beginning in the nose is somehow slightly scratchy, but at the same time soft and gentle. That alternates nicely. But it is not really restless or out of round but a bit strong and rough. In addition, with a little time in the glass, I still have some spices such as nutmeg, rosemary, pepper and maybe some aniseed. A lot of fruit and sweetness are noticeable. Mainly exotic fruits are included. Peach, pineapple, mango and overripe banana. A little honey sweetness with vanilla / toffee emerge. Alcohol seems to be well integrated although I feel a slight sting every now and then.
Вкус	86	Nice, slightly peppery heat with a good portion of spice. Doesn't have an alcoholic effect, but I guess it has a higher alcohol content because of the spice and sharpness. In addition, there are again the exotic fruit notes. The sweetness of honey and vanilla are also still slightly noticeable. Again, spicy wood notes emerge. The spices are also discreetly there. Slightly metallic at the back.

A very enjoyable pot still. Redbreast is already my favorite midleton. Although it mostly creates a balanced impression, it unfortunately feels a little underpowered at some points on the palate. The characteristic grassy note of the pot still is almost only noticeable in the finish. Nevertheless, it's a pleasant whiskey to drink. Price-performance ratio: Good, Medium-good. Would I repurchase it?: I think it would be good to put it on the shelf at the lower end of its price range.

Нос	86	Quite pear-like, caramelized praline. A little green apple peel. That's the freshness. A toasty side, a little dried coconut. Lots of vanilla. A little cocoa powder. A pastry-like fritter. Plenty of powdered sugar. Yellow fruit jams; apricot and kumquat are the first ones that come to mind. A salep-like side, cinnamon. The spiciness is very subtle. Fresh apricots. A spice that unfolds over time; cumin seeds and a little red pepper flakes. A little rye bread crust. Quite enjoyable, quite intense. Beyond my expectations.
Вкус	84	The intensity drops suddenly on the palate. Low body. Plenty of stonefruit. Florality. Green apple and yellow pear, with their peels. Spices are a little more pronounced, black pepper and cinnamon with oak spice. Elderflower. A little shallow. Caramel in the background again. Lightly toasted bread. Coconut chips again. Orange candy. A slight disappointment after the nose.
Финиш	85	More malty and coconut-like in the finish. Porridge. Apricot jam. A slight grassy note emerges at the end. Very toasty. It regains its tempo here after the palate. Plenty of vanilla and cream. Intensity slightly above average. And a finish of a length that could be described as slightly below average. Sufficiently complex and enjoyable. No flaws. Good.

A fruity, nutty creamy enjoyable malt. Three years on from the 12 yo it has smoothed out the sharp notes. A lovely light, sweet and unique Irish whiskey. Not as punchy flavour wise as the RB CS or Laustau, these are more to my tastes.

Great whiskey for the price, not very special but not bad either. Simply good.

Вкус	86	Here again a very quiet and gentle start. It starts with a combination of green tea and vanilla, which continues towards soft honey, apples and a calm presence of citrus that breaks up the sweetness. This is then concluded with the softly bitter taste of (sherry) oak
Финиш	86	Medium long with little strength, but this makes the whiskey even softer and easier to drink. You taste a bit of dry sweetness from honey in combination with oak.

Soft, gentle, mellow, even refreshing at times but with a pepper quality that pervades the taste and finish. I’m thankful to have tried and enjoyed this as it is the definitive Irish single pot still whiskey. A total education.

A solid, worth every cent bottling.

Нос	88	Nice dark-gold appearance, but it is not its natural colour. Yet, a blend of bourbon casks with some sherry casks should look exactly like this one. Most probably were refill sherry casks. Quite oily on the glass, persistent medium legs. Nice smell, too. Here the sherry influence is present
Вкус	89	The 46% feels stronger. This was the first thought will having the first sip from the first glass from my first bottle of Redbreast 15. Bottled in 06.02.2025, bought few days ago for 71 Euro. The sherry influence is rather weak. It tastes more like a good classic bourbon cask
Финиш	88	Medium-2-long finish. Again, more like a 55% feeling on the tongue.

Beautiful. A round thing. Aromatic, with a varied fruit spectrum and a fine, tart side, plus spicy and warming with a great full mouthfeel.

Нос	89	The first thing I notice is a note of bourbon glue. The Oloroso gets away with plenty of air (dried fruits, nuts). Nice wine fruity impression. First of all, berry fruits. New oak that has just been coated with a thin layer of varnish. Fresh branches. Brioche. Barley malt spread. In the second nose I have all kinds of candied fruits, also almost a waxy impression. Very fine leather, vanilla and a nice flavor.
Вкус	90	Full-bodied, malty, it lines the entire mouth. Perfect strength. Dates and prunes. Nice tart sherry wineiness and just a great aromatic flavor. I also find it a bit flowery.
Финиш	89	Fruity wine tart. Becomes chocolatey with roasted hazelnuts, with mango. Nice warming spiciness (turmeric, allspice). Tasty caramel finish from oak. Creamy and dry.

Simple, but good. Sweetness from unrefined sugar forms the backbone, accompanied by pleasant oak influence and a touch of fruitiness.

Нос	86	Considering the ABV and age, alcohol prickle is fairly noticeable. Tart yellow apples reminiscent of apple cider vinegar lead the nose, followed by bright green grapes evocative of Cognac from the Grande Champagne region, alongside butterscotch candy sweetness. There is a peculiar acetone note—not as pronounced as in bourbon—along with varnished wood. Soft dairy notes such as pastry cream and milk caramel emerge, supported by sweetness from raisins and mixed-flower honey. Hints of wet wood and mushrooms suggest a light touch of rancio.

There is an abundance of soft sweetness from unrefined sugar, mixed-flower honey, and caramel. Raisins and fully ripened sweet figs appear, joined by straightforward oak, candied ginger, and a touch of yellow apple. As it is rolled around the mouth, unrefined sugar and caramel dominate, accented lightly by candied ginger, with dry wood stretching through the palate. The flavour profile is not complex—almost simple at first glance—but despite the noticeable alcohol heat and ginger-like spiciness, the sweetness remains firmly anchored at the core, making it highly drinkable. Финиш	86	On the retronasal finish, unrefined sugar and caramel dominate, followed by vanilla, varnished wood, and a touch of ginger, with raisins briefly lingering. On the palate, the sweetness of unrefined sugar is strong and commanding, supported by caramel, a hint of yellow apple, and the sweet note of puffed rice. A light dry-wood character lingers for quite some time.

Additional 6% ABV and 3 years maturation show up. A mash of malted and unmalted barley. Triple distilled. Matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso ex-sherry first-fill and refill oak casks. Non-chill-filtered. Coloured. Slowly forming primary legs. Mid-size slow secondary legs. Droplets trails. Superior to the 12 YO, but inferior to the 12 YO Cask Strength.

About time to venture outside of my trusty Scotch. I’ve had the Redbreast 12 before, and this seemed like a safe bet. Sure enough, I like this. It’s spicy, creamy, but also strangely green character is a refreshing addition to my dominantly Scotch shelf. I would’ve never come up with parsley as a tasting note, but priming is a thing, and now I can’t untaste it :D  Anyhoo, good stuff, will gladly finish the bottle, and look out for other good Midleton bottles.

After several inconclusive tastings spread over 6 months I decided to give it one last chance to brighten up this sad forced confinement ... Well, I have to say that the more I drink it, the more I wonder where the heck went the know-how and quality that characterized the old version. The Redbreasts are on the downward slope and this is a big mess. No complexity, even the 46 degrees can not hide the shortcomings of this product which is very (too) marked by bourbon and which leaves no space for the fruitiness typical of Redbreast of yesteryear. Only point that saves appearances: alcohol is well integrated.

I thought this would be an upgraded version of 12yo, but it's actually another way of saying it. It adds some berry tartness and spice spiciness, and boosts the alcohol for a fuller, fuller flavor, and it's all about invigorating. 12yo and 15yo happen to be as expressed by their respective patterns, 12yo is a very cute and mellow Redbreast standing quietly. 15yo is a Redbreast full of strength and self-confidence who is flying with strong wings. This bottle actually stands out and is definitely an excellent whiskey. The stronger scent and the longer finish give him a more distinct personality, a great piece. [2022.2.6] While the remaining liquid of 12yo gradually loses its fragrance, this bottle of 15yo still retains its strong fragrance. It seems that 12yo must be consumed as soon as possible within 2 months of opening the bottle, but 15yo apparently has no such troubles. 46%abv perfected its duty to guard this good taste. The taste score is 90 points, and the price does not affect the score.

Нос	92	The experience here was more than 12yo and it was very nice. Start with sweet and sour berries, Brie cheese, freshly baked bread, vanilla, oak, and some spicy pepper, honey. The way of expression is obviously different from 12yo, and the stimulation of alcohol is slightly highlighted, but this does not affect its beauty.
Вкус	92	The 46% ABV allows it to express more intense aromas of cheese, honey and barley, and a touch of spiciness in the complex aroma, perhaps this is the characteristic of pot still. The smell of oak is almost gone, replaced by sweet vanilla, caramel, etc. The overall taste is very strong, but it also brings some alcohol stimulation and pepper-like spiciness. It is not as light and smooth as 12yo. .
Финиш	92	The finish is sweet cream, fruit, honey, and more pepper than before, and it's long and rich enough to leave you wanting.

complex, nice balance, well rounded, spicy, very honey-like, fruity tabacco - sherry influence. Very well shaped. It can be for someone a bit boring. Light body, like 12y, but more complex.

A simple whiskey, not very complex but excellent at what it delivers, besides being extremely fruity.
