В аромате доминируют херес, изюм, чернослив и красные яблоки с цитрусовыми и специями (корица, мускат, кардамон), к которым добавляются кофе, молочный шоколад, кожа и характерная затхло-пыльно-землистая нота, требующая внимания. Вкус полный, кремовый, ореховый и маслянистый, с мёдом, сухофруктами, минеральностью, перцем и дубом, переходящий к сухости и вяжущим танинам; послевкусие средней длины — сладкое, ореховое, с хересом, шоколадом и дубовой сухостью. Хвалят насыщенность, сбалансированность и «рождественский» хересный профиль старой школы, отличный от современных густо-сладких стилей; критикуют жёсткость, местами приторность и излишнюю сухость с горчинкой к концу.
Опытные ревьюеры сходятся в диапазоне 84–91, но ключевое расхождение не в оценке, а в ценности повышенной крепости: несколько авторитетных дегустаторов прямо пишут, что качественно образец идентичен стандартному 15-летнему при 46%, дополнительные градусы лишь дают простор для игры с водой, и более высокая цена не оправдана — повторную бутылку брать не стали. Часть отзывов отмечает, что бутылка долго «раскрывается» после открытия (2–3 месяца) и что характер не такой выразительный, как ожидалось от усиленной версии; один опытный автор в слепой дегустации счёл образец средним по качеству, близким к рядовым розливам. Общая согласованность высокая: почти все признают узнаваемый и добротный стиль винокурни, расходясь лишь в том, стоит ли переплата за крепость.

This bottle seemed to take forever to settle down properly after being opened, something to the tune of 2-3 months. Before that it always felt too nervous and I couldn't hit a sweet spot when decanting, but after settling down it's exactly what you'd expect a 15yo CS Glenfarclas to be. It deserves a point more than the OB 15 from me because the added % makes it more fun to play with water, but qualitywise I feel they are identical. After finishing my bottle I didn't feel the need to get another one on account of the much higher price than the OB 15.
Blind tasting Jerez, 13 years, 55%, Speyside Honeycombs, plums, a little bit of cherries - not bad. The taste is rich, but not very colorful

Classic Christmas whisky with bright sherry exposure. Organically woven components, without bulges. Deliciously drunk, the perfect degree for such whisky.

Balance sheet (22) In the blind, I would go to ol-inn that this is Springbank (90) Elegant silence for a chic price.
An exciting Glenfarclas. The higher alcohol percentage creates a totally different 15-year-old Glenf.

It's much richer than the regular version, with a slightly salty taste. However, it's also a bit rough.

BLIND TASTING Nose: sherry! Sweet, heavy and yet fresh. Juicy peach. Apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Great nose Mouth: wow, extremely strong onset with massive sweetness, wonderfully salivating. Maccadamia nuts. In addition, slightly salty in contrast. Rum raisins and plum jam. Oak wort spreads somewhat towards the end. Finish: long, sweet, warming, nutty. Conclusion: Barrel-strong sherry whisky, which I really like and which I would most likely assign to Ben Nevis.
This is a very old-school Sherry Cask Whisky, quite different from the thick, sweet Sherry styles of recent years.

Glenfarclas 15 year old 103 degrees SSMSW, TWE Exclusive, 58.6%. 30ml sample Jan 2023. Orange. Aroma is initially a mix of earth covered carrot, mashed up apples, musty refill casks, red apple peel, margarine, polished metal and sawdust...in no particular order. Mostly apple flesh and musty oak really. Body is lightly oily. Taste is light up front, then green chilli spice and woody bitterness. Lingering chilli. Pretty basic. An okay Glenfarclas profile not unlike their mainstream standard bottlings. No special casks in this it just seems like a middling to below-average batch of their 15 year old at a higher strength. 3.425/82
Powerful and classic Glenfarclas style. I really enjoyed the regular 15-year old and was excited to try this because of the higher strength. However, it was a bit disappointing because the character is not extremely expressive. I might have been expecting a “juiced up” 15-year old, and it doesn’t quite deliver on that.

UK!), some char and caramel. There is a slight amount of sulfur too - a struck match. A bit brambly. Some plum pudding and some old shoe leather, rubber soles and a bit leafy, not all tobacco. Some cedar wood. Not much more comes out with water. |

I agree with Thermidor. Sure took it's sweet time to reach it's potential but then as immensely rewarding as the normal 15 with a 46%. I really like alot what they are doing here, though I wont grant any more points for the higher ABV, so 87 for both. And I also wont be purchasing another: as far as their normal 15 stays as stunning as it is, it is quite enough for me: at the recent price/quality it is a bang for your (or at least my) buck just the way it is.
Typical glenfarclas profile. Full and round, however with some edges. A bit to siropy for me though.
