A semi-finished product. You grimace as you drink, wish you'd waited a few more years, and forget about this dram bar of any character within the day's notice. For the full review, go here: https://halbendrinks.de/2022/10/02/newcomer-a/

A nice discovery. The young age is strongly felt, and in the mouth, we are still very close to a schnapps. But in a good way, so it's fine.

The nose starts with fruits from the orchard. A good flesh of juicy apple, a little pear. We continue with granulated sugar, very slightly scented with rose. The sweetness is also felt through aromas of malt. We finish with a touch of honey, slightly chemical. It's simple, with no major flaws. |

On the palate, we continue in the fairly sweet line of the nose. Cotton candy, candy apple... who said we were at a carnival? We have aromas of mirabelle plum schnapps, and good artisanal pear. Light coconut butter, barley, almond, crumble and graphite. |

A very impressive bottling for its young age. It is a great raw spirit. I am looking forward to the older bottlings and will keep an eye on Clydeside.

Not bad, not good, something in the middle. For me, alcohol is more of a nuisance than it promotes aromas and the sometimes uneven interplay of the individual aromas does not make it any more personable. Although it gets a little better with more time in the glass.

At the beginning, light fruits emerge after apples, pears, grapes. in addition there are floral notes like hay and some fresh yeast dough. A certain freshness is added by a slightly sour note of lemon and the floral aromas. Every now and then I have a slight stinging sensation in my nose. I can't say whether it comes from the alcohol or the sour component. But it seems slightly uncomfortable. Everything surrounded by an artificial sweetness, gummy bears, chewing gum comes to mind. |

The beginning is fresher, more peppery and more oak-spiced on the palate. The artificial sweetness of gummy bears can be felt earlier here. For me, the alcohol content makes it even more so. Something like a fruit schnapps. There are also ziron grass, sweet fruits like pears and apples. The wood aromas seem slightly bitter to me here. |

with water: if some anise/liquorice comes into play, surprisingly, like many other young whiskys, it does not break down when water is added Conclusion: very young, it's closer to New Make than whisky, overall promising - let's see what it delivers as a 12yo. The metallic note of many young malts is almost completely absent

Young dram from a new distillery. Promising (like almost all the new distilleries). Not much maturation. Good but nothing special though; a very fruity whisky with sweets, fresh fruits, compote and some grasses. Not bad! Looking forward to try future drams :-)

Sniff: Lots of grain in a fairly generic way. Quite young but not green and with a whiff of oak. Vanilla, banana and apple sauce. Sip: Again, you do get that it's still young because it's not very complex at all. The spirit is noticeable, with the same things I got on the nose. Sweet apple, a bit of banana, vanilla and a note of bread. Swallow: The finish shows the youth most. The alcohol starts coming through in a fairly chemical way. A bit of a cleaning product, but with hints of fruit. Some oak and barley.
pretty simple and straightforward. Malt, honey, vanilla, citrus, yeast and spices

Clydeside Stobcross 46%. First Release. At Melody, March 2022. Pale yellow. Aroma is similar to their new-make I tried back in 2019. Peachy. Nectarine. Lemon. Lime. Papery. Lightest pale oak. Taste is creamy soft oak, touch of apple flesh, some white pepper. It's very estery spirit and the oak is just supporting that with soft white pepper and biscuit. It works. I thought the new make was too estery and pungent to yield a good whisky at this age but I’m pleased to be proved wrong. Look, I’m not saying it’s fantastic, because it’s not. But it is a solid new young whisky showing some promise. The spirit has so much pungency and intense fruity esters that I'd say a couple of extra years will certainly help, and I'm really looking forward to trying those more mature whiskies in the future. 3.3/79

Here you are clearly dealing with a Lowlander. The character is very fruity and slightly floral. The barrel influence is a bit weak, the sherry barrels can only be guessed at. However, this puts the distillery character in the foreground, which should definitely be desired for a first bottling of the distillery. In terms of craftsmanship, everything fits here. I'm looking forward to older bottlings. https://www.aboutwhisky.de/tastingnotes/clydeside-stobcross-inaugural-release/

Nose is light with some malt sugar, vanilla, faint lemon, musty grain and hay notes. On the palate it is bright, fresh lemon, vanilla, and malty. Little bit of spice or ginger on the finish. Simple yet refreshing dram.
I would like to say, for an only 3 years old malt whisky, it's not bad, nosing has some fruit sweet, like strawberry, pineapple, cut grass, but when you taste it in mouth, you will feel like new make, sweet, white bread, the flavours are soft but not really smooth & balance.

This is a quite good dram, especially for the price. The tinniness common at this price range is mostly covered by a peppery, somewhat creamy overtone. I find myself surprised to go back to it each time, as it feels like it shouldn't be good, but it is. It's not complicated but it's definitely not a boring plain whisky. I have so many whiskies in this price range and this is one of my favorites. It makes me think of vanilla, burnt lemons, crispness without the tinniness, sweet black pepper. It's medium soft for the ABV and I find its finish refreshing and smooth, similar to a yamazaki 12 style finish.
Malty, vanilla creme brulee, red apple, light and simple. Too young, but some promise.
