The color already befitting, beautiful mahogany. Old sherry. Very intensive. Old, damp wood, a slight sweetness. Very strong start. The 48% seem stronger. The notes in the nose also spread in the mouth: Oily sherry paired with oak wood. The barrel is noticeable, first appears young and fresh, and then old and spicy. A bit tart in the finish, the beautiful aroma evaporates. The wood stays for a long time ... A beautiful drop suitable for Christmas.

Tried in parallel with WB53319. Very good, but doesn't come close to 2014, especially on the nose. 86-90 – Wow, really good one, needs a bottle

Fortunately, my fears of an extreme drop in quality as a result of the design change were not confirmed (but it is still noticeably behind some of the previous batches). The current batch also offers a multi-layered and exciting interplay of complex aromas from nose to finish (fruit, oak, leather,...) that, in my opinion, is only possible with malts that have matured so well. A true gentleman for special moments. But I would rather go for the older vintages.

Sample 590b, 5cl.

A slightly different bottling to the old design. This is particularly noticeable imho in the nose, which shows more spice and less dried fruit and leather. Slightly changed on the palate and on the finish, but still very, very good.

Sampled at Whisky Show. 90% FF sherry. A lot more tannin. Softer and less spicy than 21. Very cask forward. Dry finish.

Delicious, fruity, berry, round!

A very strong and round malt. But it doesn't quite match its predecessor. Too bad it's being diluted.

Tobacco, leather, lots of red fruits, sweet start in the mouth, then a bit peppery finish.

Splendid malt albeit not "old sherry style". Does have great leather and oak notes, but also fresh sweeter maltiness. 48% abv. help, especially in comparison to the 21yo which is different but just as good on the nose, but can't quite deliver on taste and finish. Good buy under 300 EUR!

A nose to fall in love with. Dry sherry malt that needs time in the glass. The 48% alcohol by volume is perfectly chosen, adding water is not necessary.

Tasted at The Whisky Event 2026. Not sure which batch.

Compared to the old form, it contains the character of glengoyne which is calm and delicate, but there is some sour lactic acid coming out of poor quality oak The acidity of miscellaneous fruit, a simple sense of structure

Nose: Sweet, cherries, raisins, spices, dark chocolate, plum jam, subtle orange, oak | Taste: Sweet, oak, cherry, spices, raisins, malt, cocoa | Finish: Medium to long; sweet notes, oak, some dried cherry and cocoa remain. The oak is still there even after minutes. | Conclusion: It starts with a wonderful nose. Sweet notes, cherries and raisins with a great spicy note at the beginning. Added to this are dark chocolate and some plum jam. A subtle orange and a pleasant oak are now there. The taste starts intensely. Sweet notes and a warming, pleasant oak are there at the beginning. Cherry and spices come directly afterwards. I now have raisins and some malt. At the end a cocoa note remains on the palate. Wow, what a great whisky. Everything harmonizes perfectly with each other. The whisky "hugs" you as you enjoy it. Lots of cherry, warming oak and spices in the nose and taste. Simply beautiful. There are no bad marks. | 90-91 points

One of my favorite distilleries. This is a fine malt.

Compared to previous bottlings, it has lost some of its quality, but it is still a decent complex bottling with a typical sherry profile. However, the price-performance ratio is no longer right today

The current label is Glengoyne 25y, starting at the top of the labels, just as its distillate is considered (Highlands), although it is matured in the Lowlands. Everything I had tried from them, I always perceived a younger distillate, without much complexity and even a little more skittish, I see one of Banksy's works (London graffiti artist), which is the anarchist throwing a bouquet of flowers, instead of the Molotov cocktail , for me this sums up Glengoyne well - I'm rebellious, but delicate! It is a distillery that was born to be different and do different things, it would be exactly the Scottish hipster saying one of its slogans in an extravagant way: "The authentic taste of malt whisky untainted by peat smoke". Sensational marketing that ends up catching the attention of many people who like more different things. On the nose, we already have a heavy note of sherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, fig, and leather. It already shows personality and delicacy with intoxicating aromas. On the palate, it appears very sweet in the mouth, although this sweetness disappears until it goes down the throat, with dried fruits in the pattern of sherry whiskys, almonds, nuts, dark chocolate, vanilla and coffee liqueur reminiscent of Sheridan's, (I just It comes to mind when I remember coffee liqueur, lol!). Its finish is long, with chocolate, honey and raisins, and something that reminds me of old whisky, it seemed to me like a tobacco box that was buried and left behind. It's a harmonious whisky, with many of the notes in their proper places, especially because lately, apart from Laph and Mac 25, very few options are being saved from this age, it's even preferable to face low quality brandy among the varied options on the market, but this secular room at Glengoyne does not lose the power of lightness and impact that it possesses. I advise you, dear grasshopper, that if the opportunity arises, you can embrace the bottle, especially because it's not every day that something good and 'different' happens in our lives! I don't really know where to classify a 25 year old whisky. I can definitely rule out flat taste. After all, 25 years are not reached just like that. So respect for such a complex whisky. Not everyone will enjoy trying it. For me it was an exhilarating event to pay respect to this whisky for its purpose.

Clean but solid. Nice leathery (with dried fruit) sherry whisky. No flaws. I think this is the standard of high quality core range sherry whisky. 89 - 88 : Quite Nice. I will buy it again if it is reasonable price.

Had a dram at Usquabae Bar in Edinburgh. Absolute benchmark in terms of balance and intensity. I'm not a Sherry Monster fanboy. Luckily, he doesn't cross the uncomfortable line. I prefer this version to the 1st fill only version. 91+
