Very nice malt, no doubt, but has too few corners and edges, is a real sipping whisky, even a little power is missing the good. By the way I love the bottle design, Top 5 series by design for me.

Tomatin 1962 from Vin & Spirit 42yo 42.6% 1962/2004 . The second bottle this 14.09 evening was this Tomatin Intense aroma, sweet and honey, milk chocolate, cherries, a lot of waxiness! The palette begins with a nice delicacy, velvet, but also intense chocolate, oh so much chocolate !! Further develops more intensively and more astringently. As if she had more power. The finish is quite long, sweet, rather delicate. Oh like this Tomatine very much, very nice chocolate honey climate, both intense and delicate. Yummy! . Floral and fruity, citrus fruit with nectar and honey. Mild floral and fruity to the taste , very creamy and vanilla sweet. Red apples and pears. Finishes with milk chocolate, creamy and waxy with nectar honey sweetness.

At a PNA tasting back in September 2006. Second best that evening, only surpassed by the 1971 Glenesk.

The nose is really something special. At 42yo this should be this good...

Conclusion: A really wonderful Tomatin, with its great fruit and spicy honey tones, which are underlaid by really gentle notes of old wood. A whisky to enjoy. A big movie theater.
