В аромате — солёный морской бриз и умеренный торфяной дым, апельсиновая цедра и цитрусы, тёмные и варёные фрукты (вишня, чернослив, изюм), карамель, мёд, ваниль, тёмный шоколад, орехи (миндаль, грецкий), старый дуб и мята с лёгкой пряностью; дым сдержанный, «зрелый», не навязчивый. Во вкусе виски маслянистый и плотный, при высокой крепости алкоголь встроен мягко: перец и пряности, сухофрукты, солёно-сладкие оттенки, копчёности (бекон, ветчина), кофе, дубовая горчинка, хересная древесина. Послевкусие долгое, тёплое, дубово-пряное, с солёными и йодистыми морскими нотами и возвращением ванили и мёда. Опытные ревьюеры ставят преимущественно 89–92, отмечая выдающийся баланс, зрелость и интеграцию спирта, а также многогранность, раскрывающуюся со временем; главная претензия у них — сдержанный, чуть застенчивый аромат при более мощном вкусе. Остальные оценивают шире (87–95): восторженные видят «высшую лигу» с торфяным стержнем и перечно-медовой сложностью, критики жалуются на избыточную пряность, финальную горчинку и, в одном случае, подозрительные сернистые «мясные» оттенки от бочки. Часты сравнения с прежними тиражами (2004–2008): этот вариант считают одним из лучших, но некоторые предпочитают партию 2006 года. Разброс оценок умеренный, консенсус — сильный, зрелый и цельный виски высокого класса.

Нос 88 Nutty, green fruits, unripe walnuts, old wooden cabinet, little earthy, hints of leather and black tea, spices, little leafy, nutmeg, dates - not bad
Вкус 90 Punchy, oily, spicy, subtle sweetness, nutty, some dried fruits, nutty, sherry wood, little peat and smoke, tobacco, pepper - very good

Once a "uncircumcised" Talisker 25yo in the glass, you should be spoiled for any castrated version. An all-round whisky, 25 years and cask strength are very excellent.
Нос 93 Old oak planks, freshly cleaned. Orange peel, mint, lovage and dark chocolate (that would actually be a new chocolate recipe ...). Caramel sweets, creme brulee. Chopped almonds and walnuts. If it were not for the subtle smoky note that sneaks past the oak tree, I would think of an old Speysider.
Вкус 93 Lays soft, velvety and tight on the tongue, fantastically incorporated alcohol. The oak sits directly on the tongue and hogs it. Orange leaves, tangerines, a touch of lime. Almonds and mint grated over the fruit. Some basil. Mild, "mature" smoke in dignity, not intrusive, but not too shy. Honey, vanilla, dark chocolate, toffee, malt candy - a handle in the confectionery department. Smoke and oak provide a rounding balance. After a while cardamom, cinnamon, some aniseed, liquorice.
Финиш 92 The oak planks protrude into the finish, accompanied by the spices that showed on the tongue after a while.

Compared this one to the 2004 edition. That one smells better, but this one tastes better.

nose on toasted caramel, fruits cooked on red and black fruits (grapes, morello cherries) spices, the cask of dripping wood, salt finally, vanilla return; the malt is present, as roasted with ovomaltine. the mouth leaves on kernel of cooked almond, on pepper, the smoke finally arrives, soft and dry, nutmeg sensation, clove the fruits are well cooked and ironed on the edge of the fire, more marked by the grapes, a little candied prune and oranges with their zest, caramelized sensation and intense vanilla, then licorice, a little camphor too! velvet in the bottom of glass. the finish is long, alcohol begins to work by distilling woody and iodized scents (salty, finally dried seaweed) and fruits with their spices, feeling satiety anyway to the nostrils.

Delicious, with a mature character.
Нос 90 Extremely balanced notes of orange and wood smoke, with a tiny bit of Pattex and spicy forest honey.
Вкус 91 The smoke comes through relatively strongly, there are smoked apricots, salty lemons, sweet and tart spice and a rich oily mouthfeel.
Финиш 90 There remains a long reflection of maritime sherry aromas that it is a real pleasure!

Nose: Very close to that of batch 2006. Sweet, malty. Sweet spices, almost comely. Palate: Vigorous, peppery. Apricot syrup. Sweetness and roundness. Finale: Peppery spices in the throat, but which settle more quickly than in the 2006 batch. Verdict: Pretty close to the batch 2006 on the nose, but (a hair) less attractive and less balanced in the mouth. 91/100 . (Note made in the context of a face to face of all Talisker 25y in barrel.)

So far the best tasting of the Talisker 25yo's I have tasted (also the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008). Heavy enough for the cold days, sweet enough for the warmer days. Adding water doesn't make the notes very different, it will emphasize them though. I love this one!

In comparison to the 20yo 1982 (92 pts.), I feel that the extra five years have rounded up the peat slightly, but also that the cask in this release was more active, giving out both more straight oak, and some bourbony notes I can't find in the 20yo. Both are great whiskys, and the current 10yo unsurprisingly felt a little immature and underachieving next to them ;)

4. Talisker 25 yo, 58.1%, bottled 2007 WB631 Andrei always insisted on giving the newcomer a 95-point malt at once and only after that start educational activities. I disagree - without a base, he has nothing to push off from (as from the bottom) and he will simply ruin the hammer and will not understand that he is holding a diamond. This is wonderful! B23. Total 95 Yesterday I tested HP25 50.7% - these are fighters in the same category, but this friend is closer to me. Shelf - yes. Drinking is a must. PS You will only appreciate how an empty glass smells! This is a head-off!

old & dignified and young & feisty at the same time. pepper, spices, a dark fruit sweetness, salty, some bacon, leather, hints of tobacco, a sea breeze, the oak. the more time you give it the more the complexity can evolve. this is really one of the finest Single Malts I ever had

It is immediately clear that this is the major league! The core here is peat (smoke, coal), it penetrates like a skewer a berry cocktail with a predominance of dried strawberries. Variety of woody tones, honey frame, minty freshness. Everything is very subtle and refined. The taste is very intense! Honey and sweet, but fresh and minty, with a nice smokey finish. The aftertaste is even perfumery in places, floral-honey shades, pleasant salty astringency. Class! 23/24/24/23.5

Another beautiful old Talisker. With the 25yo before 2010 you can do little wrong. Water opens it a little and makes it a little more maritime and rounder, but beware, just a few drops.

Rocket fuel in the best possible meaning. Power w/o end, highly concentrated flavors. Bears some similarities to the Caol Ila Feis Ile 22 but tops the latter by a notch. No comparison to younger T25 at reduced strengths, not only b/c of alcohol but overall cask quality. Too bad to see this one go the way all things.

When I drank it, I happened to have the new 2020 Thai 27 on hand, so I drank it together. This one still won.

This was really very nice, but a bit shy of absolutely spectacular. It’s certainly interesting relative to the 10.

Color: deep gold. I have already mentioned elsewhere that this salty Talisker note has the potential to get me off the hook, either the combination with sherry does not work or a sulphurous keg has slipped in (Serge writes "beefy", for example, a euphemism for me from sulfurizing), I definitely get various foul notes too present to be friends. 89 points, nevertheless well-made whisky. And please enjoy this evaluation with great caution.

Nose: leather, light dust, aromas of burnt rubber, some peat, some grass. Taste: From the first sip on the tongue, noticeable notes of oak covered with dusty old peat. Rating: 90 | 100 - Long finish with sweetish notes in the form of vanilla turning into caramel. In my opinion, whisky is worth trying. Pretty deep and long notes are nicely arranged. Interestingly compiled!

Even for Talisker standards this is something special. A massive, delicious whisky that is worth every penny. I was lucky to get this cheap, but even at normal price I would consider it!

If you try this one in a tasting, make sure you put him at the end. This one is a real killer, a giant of a malt. If you compare this style with the newer versions of the Talisker 25 you will get tears in you eyes. This one seems to be out of another universe. I bought this one nerly 10 years ago for 100€!

Initially so smoky and irritating. A good 20-30 minutes in the glass it unfurled to give more fruits and sherry notes that made it more balanced. Still, slightly too woody for my expectation.
