In all these years, I have never come across a bad bottling of Springbank. The 15-year-old expression is more sherried and surprisingly peaty compared to its younger brother. On the nose, you get smoked salmon, confectionery and pipe tobacco. A touch of damp earth, cough syrup and parsley linger in the back. The taste is strong, savory and a bit fizzy with mineral peat smoke, orange peel and fresh ginger. Almost like a distant dream of Islay, whispering farewell in its long and slightly dry finish. Altogether, this is a rewarding single malt and a great value. RATING: 4.0/5.0 stars ≙ 88 pts → FIRST-CLASS

An absolutely typical Springbank bottling. Not sanded smooth, but with tasty corners and edges.

Bottle code 11/180. More subtle and sophisticated than the 10, especially that waxy note.

The sherry influence is clearly to smell, it smells simple, pure, no frills. The onset is fierce, aromatic, fine blend of oak and sherry, raisins, spicy. Light vanilla scents come through, it smells soft, tastes strong. Nice malt, but the 10's had more!

Amber color. Oily structure.

N- Trademark sulfur, nail polish coating with burnt plastic and forest fire smokes. Rich and squashy roasted pumpkin drifting with bitter chocolate at the back. With splash of water, nutty and nose heating peat emerged. Delicious juicy grapefruit. Deep and demanding nose with finesse and care. Well structure with unbendable style. P- Ale bitterness, leather and oily sweet malt, touch of umami and savoury. A hint of intriguing decay mushy wood. Complex. F- Creamy and smooth. The incredibly fast start brings a bonus point, otherwise a tasty, not too complex, dram, thumbs up

- a super delicious single malt with character, depth and a nice taste experience - Malt, oak and especially sherry are much more intense in the Taste than the 10 y. - if you still have some, definitely enjoy!

Typical oily Springbank whisky. Like it or not.

Excellent aroma, light, but very saturated with shades and half-tones, a wide palette of derivatives; the taste / finish is simpler, but very pleasant and open, a lot of dry herbs, very much like the Highland Park style, on the whole rather dry and austere.

A real Campbeltown whisky.

Nose: sherry, dark chocolate, Christmas cake, almonds, caramel and oak. Palate: creamy, raisins, dark chocolate, figs, marzipan, nutty and vanilla Finish: Persistent oak and sherry notes with a touch of leather

This is one of my favorite readily available malts. An absolute stunner! If you love the 10, you will covet the 15.

Blind tasting.

S 5 An above-average sherry casked whisky but not a superb one, given the price. The complexity didn't carry through to the finish. Also, can be hard to recognise the "Springbank" notes in a blind tasting. for me that is a tasting monster. there is a hint of smoke, spicy wood, oily sea, sweet. so much to taste, nearly every sip is different. wonderful dram

this is for the new version with the horrible labels. change your labels you good people in campbeltown and leave the rest as it is, you can´t go wrong!

Fine, whole, consistent whisky. Smoked and delicate. Big pleasure.

An allround Springbank. Intense and feinty, but also well balanced including sherry notes and fresh notes like mint chocolate, fennel and coconut.

Sweet lemon candies, effervescent tablets, tangy and fruity, yellow fruits, a little mineral, nuts, matches, lemon cake, herbs and a touch of oak.

Balanced and to the point. But there are a few corners and edges to say more to me.

Fruity and malty aroma, burnt oak, mustard, orange peel, apple pie and honey. Fruity, sweet taste, pepper, chocolate, caramel and malt. Medium long, sweet and malty end.

More farming comparing to the younger versions. Craft presentation by its own, for my taste to spicy with a tipsy bitterness lingering around the corner. Concerning price/performance ratio: 7/10

Nice nose, complex. But the bitter medicinal / sulphur notes disturbing a little. Previously rated at 84 points, now its only 81. The Springbank 10 year 100 proof is by far the better choice!

Very good product, quite simple but well done. Austerity that I like.

I really do not know much about the rating. Beginning as a partisan, the scent sat down, the taste was lagging behind the bouquet, but it was nothing terrible, the flavor seemed to be the weakest part of the chain, but the influence of the sulfur after a few minutes testified to me the tasting. Someone does not suffer, I like it, but I can comfort myself. The resultant points are therefore only the arithmetic mean of a great bouquet, a decent taste, a weaker reverberation, and an outright negative second reverberation. So 84b, but I would not want to drink again this again. I would wonder if this impression was needed in the WhiskyFestival, anybody else, but I can not help it, this is a disappointment for me.

This is a big chewy, leathery whisky, great for autumn evenings.

More exciting than the 18yo. The older age (10yo) is very compatible with the greater sherry influence, I think.

Longer period of maturation in this case surely acts in Springbank's favour. Thus, it brings more depth, supplements the intensity of the whisky, refines it, ennobles its character so to speak.

Springbank 15, 46%. Consumed Oct 2019. Aroma is huge coal gas, paraffin lamp, stove, crystalline notes behind all of that, touch of ginger sweets, Foxes fruits boiled sweets. Interesting. Fairly muted. Taste is quite muddled with fruit and biscuit cancelling each other out, more of that slight coal gas vibe, thin squash and coal gas, faint chilli and rockpool vibes, touch of burnt egg but all sitting behind that semi fruity edge. It's ok ... quite interesting ... but there's something not quite right. 3.3/79

Can not really show off its peatiness in the nose, but the smoke is fully absorbed in the finish and blends in well with the fruity sherry flavor

An absolutely soft Springbank, without the corners and edges of the 10-year-old, even without its liveliness and nervousness - calm, oily, heavy - but it also has less tension. Nice, I like it much better, even if it has little fruit in the taste. Nut and chocolate are directing here. And of course the Springbank grades Machine Oil + Smoke.

Tasted head-to-head with 10yo and 2000 vintage I don't know what to think. I find is a bit too gentle of a dram. certainly there is a great complextion but it feels veiled. I find the nose rather disappointing. It is just too descreet and with water completely disappears. The palate is very balanced, elegant. SGP: 364I give it an extra point for complexity.

The nose reminds me of a slightly peaty Clynelish 14yo. Predominantly matured in ex-Bourbon casks I reckon. Overall, this is quite a treat. It is affordable, interesting enough for revisits, and presented in true craft presentation. What’s not to like?

Fruity, dry, mineral and slightly maritime. Not overwhelming and as stormy as the 10, but with a certain complexity. Ideal for summer.

A springbank balanced and without major flaw, but as I like to look for the little beast, superb lemony and complex nose but clear and diffuse mouth .... If it had to be given a subjective note, it would be a 86.

got its moments but its kind of weak compared to the intense 12 yo cs. therefore it bennefits from its additional maturity in nose and flavour. 15 yo in cs would be great.

A whisky with some weird flavors, a combo between flowers and perfume. But the finish was really nice.

Springbank 15 old vs. New Colour: Both identical bright amber Nose: The new 15 is very red-fruity sherry-heavy and somewhat exotic, wonderfully greasy smoke with beautiful sharpness, spicy herbs, savory sweetness, some medical notes at the very back. The old 15 comes significantly milder in the nose, there are no peppery notes of smoke, here comes through the fruity-sweet Bourbon, much pear, ripe apple, some rancid olive oil, soft water to honey. The new is clearly jagged in the nose, the old something is missing here the oomph, but he presents himself more complaisant, round ... where the new already neatly demands to dissect the flavors. Taste: The old comes beautifully sweet-oily in the mouth, light pepper notes on the edges of the tongue, then creamy pear, slowly slide into the bitterness, pelle of half-ripe mirabelle, strong espresso, no, Greek mocha. The new is almost sweeter on the tongue, again red fruit, sour cherry, currant, Acai, to the smoked bacon glazed with honey, pepper only in the back of the cheeks, a hint of bitter choco. The old man is almost too harmless, soft and sweet. The new shows itself from the best Springer side: greasy peat, juicy fruit in great harmony. finish: The old man is very bitter, a lot of men's chocolate, a little sweet, medium long. The new is sweet and fruity with coffee notes, medium long. Conclusion: The old 15er is not a bad whisky, but here Springbank has saved on the peat of the malt, he just has too little Pepp. The new is a flatterer with neat corners and edges. Lots of fruit and sweetness through the sherry portion, to the smoked bacon. Age 15's: 82 pts. New 15er: 85 pts.

Nose: Rounder than the 10yo, some sherry, a bit of springbank`ish rubber, peat, a little bit smoke Mouth: Sherry, oily, some smoke Finish: PX Sherry, rounder than the 10, smoke, peat, some light oak at the very end Comment: I feel Springbank is a better combo with Bourbon casks and I prefer the punchier and more abrasive 10 year old. It also slightly looses out to the 12yo CS which comes with some stronger sherry influence. Still very good

This one is clearly a drier one than the OB's of the core-range. Somehow I like the sweeter ones better, the sweetness suits the basic profile, making it deeper.

Nose: lighzt Smoke,Caramel,Sherry,Oak,Mold,Plums,Raisins,Seawater,Paprika Taste: Smoke,black Pepper,Caramel,Toffee,Plums,Raisins,Bread,Mold,Oak Finish: Medium to long with a medium to strong Alcohol Note Overall: Springbank just knows what makes a great Single Malt with it's own character. Very different from the Springbank 10 with much more of a Sherry cask Influence

Noble, well balanced

Really lovely whisky, but it's neither a peat-monster nor a sherry-bomb. It's uniquely Springbank, with all that it entails.Nose: peat, dried fruits,spongecake, whiff of cigar, a bit of Springbank's funkiness, hint of manure, no sulfur at all.Taste: quite similar, but perhaps a hint of orange in the background. It is rather thin though. Finish: long and quite warm. Price is however an issue, at least here in Denmark, it's just too expensive for what it is.

Lack of some complexity but so smooth so enjoyable.

Very nice whisky with lots of notes both to the nose and tongue. Maybe a bit to much alcohol? Overall a very good whisky to the price.

The caramel note is a little strong for my taste but overall it is a great whisky. The finish balances that note and makes it well rounded

Whisky very typical, almost caricatural style Springbank? Good scotch anyway.

This is one very underrated whisky. It`s certainly not one for the beginner with all of its complex flavors. Extra points for all production being done in house!

Nose is good, but mouth doesn't get much anything. This thing is watery. Finish is surprisingly long, but there's not much there either.
