Молодой торфяной односолодовый с можжевеловым дымом (солод сушат на торфе и можжевеловых ветках) — сухой, солёный, фруктово-медовый, шведская альтернатива Айле. Оценки ровные (в основном 81–87), опытные хвалят самобытность, но признают молодость.

В аромате — костровой дым и зола, сушёные травы, вереск, можжевельник, цитрусы (лимон, лайм), зелёные яблоки и жёлтые фрукты, мёд, копчёный окорок, немного кожи, хвои и ванили; молодость чувствуется, но воспринимается положительно, кому-то напоминает молодой Каол Айла. Во вкусе сухая, резковатая атака с фенольным торфяным дымом, перцем и дубовой пряностью, затем фруктовая сладость (яблоки, мёд, дикий лесной мёд), выраженная солёность, можжевеловая горчинка и ореховые тона (незрелый фундук, миндаль, вплоть до марципанового окончания). Послевкусие чаще короткое или среднее, сухое, солёно-дымное, с цитрусом, можжевельником, лакрицей и лёгкой сладостью. Опытные ревьюеры ставят преимущественно 84–88 и ценят самобытный профиль, сложность и удачное сочетание торфа с бочковой выдержкой, отмечая при этом молодость и лёгкую тонковатость дистиллята. Среди остальных разброс шире: часть тоже даёт 85–87 за баланс и оригинальность, но встречаются и низкие оценки (70–76) с претензиями к тонкому, «водянистому» телу, металлическим и «растворительным» нотам и к тому, что дым и дистиллят не всегда сочетаются. В целом мнения согласованы вокруг «крепкого, но не выдающегося» уровня: интересный эксперимент и достойная альтернатива шотландцам, ограниченный молодостью спирта.

Non-traditional world whiskies are becoming increasingly popular, and Sweden's Mackmyra is among the pioneers. Interestingly, Svensk Rök uses a combination of local peat and juniper twigs to kiln the barley. Bonfire ashes, dried herbs and a variety of green fruits characterize the nose, which almost reminds me of a young Caol Ila. Dry and pungent in the arrival, the taste develops with aromatic peat smoke, wood sap and fruity sweetness before the long and briny finish kicks in. More ash, smoked ham and spices are following. Bottle been open for a couple of weeks and I thought I have another go at it. Don't know if it's my palate's mood tonight but there's a distinct addision to it that I didn't catch the first time. Both the nose and finish have a great taste of unripe hazelnut acorns. Just like I remember from my childhood, picking them from a neighbours tree, crushing them and eating the white pulp, because unripe they are impossable to crack like "normal" nuts. Not crispy and dry but very juicy concentrated, almost artificial hazel taste. Finish is not perceived as dry as it was, and the nutty addition gives it a very marsipan like ending. Nice!

I tried a few releases. Interesting, but young specimens.
Нос 85 A little apple candy, lime and lime honey, a little smoke, as well as other yellow fruits.
Вкус 85 The taste is sweet, light, very fruity with a hint of smoke and bitterness from early picked green cherries.
Финиш 84 The aftertaste is sweet, candy, floral.

Quite good. Floral smoke, citrus fruits, salty, honey. I like the profile.
Нос 84 Heathery smoke, juniper, citrus, pepper, limes, kipper. Some lavender, apples, dried herbs. Smells youthful but good.
Вкус 85 Honey, heathery smoke, juniper, lemons, limes, really salty. A bit fruity, floral, subtle wood, malt.
Финиш 83 Green apples, pepper, salt, juniper, heather smoke, lavender. Honey, vanilla, ash, a little woody. Quite short but not bad at all.

This is wonderful.Thoroughly enjoyed it. It just has a nice spin on the peated whisky. It really appeals to me and thanks to Peatbogger for the sample. Definitely a future purchase.

Fresh, minty, wet granite, dry, some hints of ginger, there is some peat, some saltiness, some traces of sweets, a bit grassy, malty. The finish is rather short and dry. Interesting malt, the juniper smoke is not too bad. Nice dram.

Нос 84 Unexpectedly great phenol smoke that is already fleshy. herb meadow. Toffee. citrus. coniferous forest. Grain. Leather. Nut.
Вкус 86 Starts with a lot of wood and pepper. The smoke is clearly there on the palate. earthy. Mossy. Grain. Herbs. Mocha with cocoa topping. citrus.

Нос 84 Smoke and a little hint of leat, followed by a note of a bonfire. Fruity notes follow like lemon and apples. A hint of orangecake. It turns sweet with notes of custard and boiled sweets. At the end notes of resin and thyme.
Вкус 86 Peat and smoke to begin with. Sweet notes follow like vanilla, honey and sugar waffles. Only fruity notes of apples and juniper. At the end notes of licorice, thyme and a little pepper.
Финиш 86 Quite long with notes of smoke, vanilla, juniper and licorice.

So far, my best Mackmyra. Solid but not outstanding. The combination of peat smoke and barrel maturation works here (in contrast to some other Mackmyra).
Нос 84 Dry peat smoke and juniper, plus some BBQ. Malt sweetness and dark fruits and berries.
Вкус 83 Peat smoke. Sweetness of dark forest honey. Plum. Fresh wood. Pattex. Some pepper.
Финиш 80 Short. Getting dry. Freshly cut wood, pattex and light fruit notes.

To give it its smokiness, the malt was dried over a juniper fire. Color - straw yellow, pale white wine
Нос 77 clearly dry smoke, slightly sour, tropical fruits, relatively mild, honey, metallic
Вкус 76 very hard and smoky, honey-sweetness, herbal meadow, a bit rough in the throat
Финиш 76 superficially metallic-sweet-watery, long on the front of the tongue, otherwise short and without memory

Very interesting, a very fresh and hearty whisky at the same time. You don't notice the 46.1%, I think the alcohol is well integrated. There is a lot to discover and I find it very complex and it definitely makes you want more. I really like it.

A neat experiment I hope encourages others to try similar. This is a solid dram with enough flavor while also being quite light. While some whiskies lend themselves better to warmer or cooler seasons, I think this one would have a place in any of them.
Нос 84 Sweet then smoky. Indiscriminate fruit. Juniper. Herbal.
Вкус 83 Light. Apple, smoke, spice. A gin-like feel to the flavor.
Финиш 85 Malty, a bit smoky/ham-like. Medium.

Actually not bad whisky with light smoky nose and unusual palate. Very interesting taste and it’s hard to figure out those unusual notes. I guess in must be juniper since they used juniper for barley kilning. So quite well composed whisky, very good alternative to scotches.

Нос 74 Peaty, but also very light and somehow a little thin. Burnt wood and paint thinner.
Вкус 74 Very oaky, with bits of vanilla in between. Burnt wood and wet wood.
Финиш 72 Short and somewhat sweet. The wet wood dominates.

I am always happy when a whisky evokes lively associations in me. This one was like a stroll through the Christmas market (that is, through a cozy little, artisan). For me, Svensk Rök has a wonderful "flow of aromas" and a great mouthfeel.

Young but easy to drink. Plenty of sweetness, a touch of lime and juniper. Slightly soapy. Nice smoky flavor and a hint of coffee on the finish.

I visited this distillery in 2019 and was pleasantly surprised. They cannot sell whisky but the lady who attended served me a couple of creations, a PX dram impressed me. Then I bought this bottle in an official shop in Stockholm.

Fairy good legs, thick and slow flow. This is a very clean, refreshing whisky. Not much wood influence. I quite like this style.
Нос 83 Clinic, peat smoke, sandpaper, green apple, star fruit, hard toffee candy. Crispy clean.
Вкус 83 Again very clean mouthfeel, a little dry. There's some roasted nuts. It's zesty and a little savory on the tongue. Some burnt toast and pine resins.
Финиш 84 Long, lingering finish. Mild and mellow smokiness and bitterness, and over-brew tea.

A great alternative to whiskys from the Isle of Islay region, Swedes went straight to the top with this one!
Нос 89 Wild meadow, herbs, vanilla, cane sugar, pine needles. Wood, citrus, pickled gherkins with dill. Pungency and aroma of Dijon mustard, cold juniper smoke, seaweed, leather, soft fresh peat. Unripe walnuts, honey, white chocolate. The smell is just great and interesting, a lot of different aromas.
Вкус 87 Sweet, covers well, just a little acidity. Fruitiness, peat, bitterness are revealed. Honey and pine branches, ash, lemon freshness together with juniper. Fresh soaked oak wood, dried peaches, apples with cinnamon. The walnut note reappears, and I also catch the smell of candle wax.
Финиш 86 Medium long, smoky, oaky, sweet and drying towards the end.

Unfortunately, the smoke and the distillate don't go together, metal and fruit that I can't pinpoint, slightly malty. Mackmyra can, here imho but it doesn't fit. Better to grab the 10yo

Tasted from a sample. Out of the 3 samples i tasted this was second favorite only losing to the stjärnrök.
Нос 81 A bit weak but not bad. Slightly meaty smoky notes, honey, juniper.
Вкус 83 Thin and watery. Smoked ham, juniper and botanicals, some sweetness, slightly citric.
Финиш 84 Smoke, citrus, some sweetness lingers, botanicals. Not bad.

Conclusion: I'm not a "Smokehead" - so this isn't necessarily one of my favorites. BUT: This is a well-made whisky. The Svensk Rök is anything but random and has a great style of its own. If you only like a smoky whisky now and then, you should at least try it.
Нос 81 Light smoke rises first in the nose - a distant log fire. Lemony and spicy grainy notes followed by a little vanilla sweetness are in the background.
Вкус 80 Wow .... violent start. Much more intense than the relatively subtle nose suggests. Strong, phenolic smoke. Pepper and lots of woody oak spice. Then come citrus and apples. Very dry.
Финиш 81 Long finish. Oak wood with a persistent, very dry mouthfeel. stimulating salivation. At the very end comes a touch of sweetness.

Surprisingly round, despite relatively high ABV and young age. The smoke is not like Islay smoke, more fire and less peat. Otherwise hints of sweetness and Oak. Short conclusion. Lacks some complexity and punch.
