В аромате — умеренное травянистое копчение с земляными, слегка затхлыми оттенками, к которым позже пробивается яркая фруктовость: красные ягоды, персик, апельсин, курага, а также ваниль, мёд, табак, кожа и мадерная сладость с изюмом. У ряда образцов дым усиливается до отчётливо фенольного, йодистого, медицинского. Во вкусе — маслянистое, кремовое тело, десертный шоколад, какао, орехи, солёная карамель, пряный дуб, корица и кислые фрукты (крыжовник, лимон); торф проходит фоном и хорошо встроен. Послевкусие длинное у одних и коротковатое, быстро гаснущее у других, с дымом, золой и подсыхающей древесиной.
Хвалят удачное, пусть и своеобразное сочетание хайлендского дыма и сладкой мадеры, сложность и питкость; критикуют нехватку напора при 46% (многие хотели бы больше крепости), местами водянистое тело, горечь и резкий переход от аромата ко вкусу. Опытные ревьюеры в целом сходятся на высоких оценках (87–92), отмечая цельность и зрелость, тогда как у остальных разброс заметно шире — от восторженных 92–94 до сдержанных 75–82, где торф подавляет обычную для BenRiach сладкую элегантность. Общий консенсус — крепкий, характерный релиз, делящий мнения именно из-за необычной комбинации торфа и мадеры.

Color almost like gold. The smoky aroma rises immediately in the nose. Very pleasant smoke, not overwhelming, rather lovely. In addition, something sherryhaftes, must be the influence of the Madeira Pass. Raisins mix, spicy, marzipan. A first sip reveals the great popularity. Not strong, despite the 46%, rather mild, soft, mature - great! Now the oak comes out, vanilla pushes in the foreground. There are whiskys that develop after several minutes of unpleasant tastes. This one is not. He remains faithful to the end. I am very happy. Great malt!
Pleasant, powerful Riach, the Madeira finish doesn't move too very sweet.

Qualitatively between the pleasingly good Alabriza and the somewhat disappointing Dunder, in comparison to the non-smoking 15er I find the post-maturity rather discreet, all in all good to drink

This is a very good dram. Like various other old Benriachs with winey finishes, great. And a smokey one at that. I would blindly tip it to Balechin as well. The taste is quite bitter and detracts from the overall impression.

The finish doesn't look superimposed, but it doesn't dominate in any way, but gives the BenRiach an additional coat of paint that fits well. What the malt lacks is punch, 50% would certainly have suited it better.

A very nice experiment and a bottling that divides opinion, as it has some very special aromas.

Sounds weird, but it's not unpleasant. There is also a maritime note that reminds me of salty sea air. This is accompanied by bright, ripe fruits such as peaches, oranges and dried apricots. Nice palatable malt. I like the combination of Rauch and Madeira and it fits together for me. The Madeira finish can, as has often been the case, be a bit more intense. Overall, however, great Benriach.

Not a bad whisky, but also a good one ?! As already read in other tasting notes, this bottling offers a very enigmatic flavor mix. Do not skin me, but it's not bad. I will not be smart about this whisky.
There's quite a drastic change here from nose to palate, I can see how it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's certainly mine.
As soon as I bring the glass to my nose, I am flooded with a good aroma of slightly smoky and very mineral peat. I find it hard to recognize other aromas, but I think I catch a lemon peel and a little white chocolate. After a few minutes a very clear note of incense emerges, very particular and pleasant. In the mouth I feel a very dry and tannic body, quite dense, characterized by a very strong peat, a sweet and slightly spicy flavor. The finish is long and sweet. Very strange this Benriach, the peat is king and the usual sweet, persuasive and elegant aromas / flavors are not perceived.

A nice sweetness involved in the smoke, gets in my nose. The fruity sweetness is the first thing in the mouth, followed by the strong, spicy, charred oak ... which also smolders after a long finish. It tastes really good ... and if I did not know better, I would say BenRiach is on Islay ;-)

The peat smoke is always present in the background, whereby it seems to support the other flavors. The whisky is very complex, only I would like the finish to be stronger and more intense.

aroma: full, smooth, smoke, strawberries, raspberries taste: rougher, smoke, leather, dried fruit I enjoyed the smell more than the taste, which is a bit harsh compared to the pleasant smell.
A very beautiful BenRiach, clear and unambiguous remains true to the style of the distillery. Particularly beautiful is the influence of Madeira in the nose, where it produces a great complexity between smoke and fruit. In the taste, the fruits lose a bit too fast to bitterness and herbs, otherwise it would be perfect.

I think a beautiful Madeira smoker, even if it could have been a little more Madeira for me.

A really nice change of sweetness, mixed with smoke from the Highlands .. Again a very fine limited edition of Benriach, the distillery is really on the rise ... I am happy to have something else in the small cellar .. 90P with me
For me, one of the weakest Benriachs lately. Watery, incoherent and powerless. In contrast to the wonderful Albariza a bitter disappointment for me.
Fruit and smoke on the nose, very dominant. On the palate again smoke over yellow fruits and white chocolate. Departure short with a light oak note. The smoke note is rather annoying here, otherwise ok.
