Молодой, лёгкий и простой торфяной Айлей: свежий торф, лимон, солоноватость и сажа. Опытные и остальные согласны — приятный, питкий, но неглубокий и не дотягивает до ожиданий от названия.

В аромате свежий, слегка сажевый и «фермерский» торф, лимон, солоноватость и морская нота, к которым добавляются резина, масляность, орехи, печенье, мокрая шерсть, мята и анис поверх растущей солодовости. Во вкусе умеренная сладость, ячменный сахар, ваниль, лимон, зелёный торфяной дым, немного пряностей и сухих трав, яблоко и лакрица; послевкусие средней длины, сухое, солоноватое, с табаком, сажей и дымом. Хвалят за свежесть, лёгкость и питкость — недорогой повседневный образец, торфяной, но заметно мягче классических «монстров» южного побережья Айлы (40 ppm почти не читаются).
Критикуют за простоту, отсутствие глубины и выраженного характера, а также за то, что виски не оправдывает громкого названия. Оценки на редкость согласованы: опытные ставят 82–84, остальные держатся в том же коридоре (72–84), при этом даже низкие баллы сопровождаются положительными отзывами о доступности и лёгкости питья. Расхождений в трактовке профиля между опытными и рядовыми авторами практически нет — все сходятся на образе молодого, честного и непритязательного торфяного виски; один опытный автор счёл его настолько простым, что не стал записывать заметки.

[December, 2012] Finally I finished a bottle that I bought for 30,50 Euro in September, 2012. In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 82,5. I found it not worthwhile to take any notes.

On the nose, fresh peat, lemon! On the palate, a little sweetness, few spices, a little dried herbs, ubiquitous peat and lemon! In the final, medium to long on the same aromas. A simple dram, effective, little disturbing!
I bought this bottle in the distillery shop. I`ve never tried it before and it was a reasonable price so I decided to give it a go and I wasn`t disappointed. This is another feather in Laddie`s cap.

Serge says: I know, lots of Port Charlottes on WF these days but I like them. This multi-vintage version replaces the previous 3D, Peat and An Turas Mor versions of peated Bruichladdich. Colour: pale white wine. Nose: instantly reminds me of the Bruichladdich ‘Peat’ indeed, although I think I’ve never written proper tasting notes for that one. It seems to be quite young, sooty and smoky, quite farmy, with some wet dogs (yeah, I’m sorry, dogs), raw wool, some mint and aniseed, seawater, a little lemon, wet clothes and then a growing barleyness. A farmyard near the sea. Mouth: quite good, quite creamy, between lemons, a green kind of peat smoke, barley sugar and a mix of vanilla, cut apples and liquorice. For a peated Islayer, it’s relatively light and pretty easy. The 40ppm do not show, this is rather less peaty than all three ‘monsters’ from the Kildalton coast. Finish: medium long, briny. Comments: this baby’s probably quite young on average. It’s an easy and simple peater, quite fresh, pretty undemanding and rather quaffable. Would be great on an ice cube… Next July!
