Лёгкий фруктово-солодовый спейсайд с медовыми грушами, яблоками и дубовой пряностью; питкий и приятный, но простой и порой суховато-горьковатый. Опытные ставят ровно около 80, широкая публика — разброснее.

В аромате преобладают светлые фруктовые ноты — персик, апельсин, яблоки и груши, дополненные ванилью, мёдом, солодом, лёгкой ореховостью и оттенком дуба; изредка отмечают земляные, травяные, меловые и даже слабо намекающие на торф тона, а также фоновый хересный оттенок в отдельных розливах. Вкус мягкий, кремово-солодовый, с медово-ванильной сладостью, цитрусовой кислинкой и пряной дубовостью (белый перец, гвоздика, кориандр); тело тонковатое, но гладкое. Послевкусие средней длины, суховатое, с пряностью, дубом, сушёным апельсином и грейпфрутом, нередко с горчинкой и танинами. Хвалят питкость, свежесть и сбалансированную непритязательность повседневного глотка, а также чистый фруктовый характер, ценимый в купажах. Критикуют простоту, тонкое тело, слабую выразительность, сухую горечь к финалу и заметную партийную изменчивость: одни розливы приятнее и менее горькие, другие сделаны на уставших бочках и кажутся молодыми и пустоватыми. Опытные ревьюеры единодушны и держат оценки в узком коридоре 74–83 (в основном около 80), сходясь на «пить можно, но восторга нет». Широкая публика разбросаннее: медиана та же (около 80), но с восторженными 84 и резкими провалами до 41, 63 и единичными 1, что отражает как разброс партий, так и разброс ожиданий.

Light golden color. Light oiliness.
Нос 82 Orange fruit. Peaches. Candied fruit. Stone notes. It gets sweeter over time. Honey. Peaches in syrup. Dust marks. Traces of spices. Maybe some pears.
Вкус 81 Light sweetness. Orange fruit. Peaches. A pinch of spices. White pepper. Sweet syrup. Barrel.
Финиш 79 Spices. Light spiciness. White pepper. Cocoa. Finally, an oak barrel. Medium length finish. A bit of dust at first after the second sip.

It’s better behaved with water but still feels somewhat wayward. Despite this, it also stays porridgy and becomes a tad chocolatey. F: Returns dry then with more Caramac=carob notes. With water, I get a little heathery bitter-forest note with a woody mouldiness at the tail. C: Not many Strathmill’s around, official bottling or otherwise so these F&F bottlings appear more desirable year on year. Currently £44 [2016]

As the Flora and Fauna range go this is a nice one, as I say it took me a while to get into it as some do but it pulled It self round and became one of those quite pleasant every day drams we all know.

Molt is simple, but very pleasant, drinkable, quite rich and dense for its years - a soft oak speaker, something in the spirit of Stratale.

Pretty good stuff. It shows Strathmill´s competence of delivering some fresh, crisp fruity spirit that makes it wanted in blends. But on it´s own, it´s worth a try too.

Bottled in November 2022 (L2314DQ000). The batches seem to be very different, which is of course no surprise. I have had a much more pleasant Strathmill F&F bottling in my glass before, which was less bitter and I liked it better.
Нос 83 Quite closed at first. First impression is quite malty and with light fruit notes. Vanilla, apples and pears, malt and grain, a hint of red gummy bears, orange, honey, sliced almonds, fine oak.
Вкус 84 Spicy and quite full in the mouth. The drinking strength is clear. Vanilla, oak spice, mineral notes, apples and pears again, dried orange slices, allspice, coriander, cloves.
Финиш 83 Medium-long finish, slightly tart. Dried orange and grapefruit, brine water, apple, allspice, coriander, oak. A few minutes after the last sip, a little peach comes to the rescue.

A pleasantly fresh and soft whisky with alternating acidity and sweetness of citrus fruits. The nose is confirmed in taste - 06.12.2017

Fresh corn and a little salty fresh notes in the nose. Little character, malty sweet and slightly bitter and much wood. Short finish.

Nose: Light sweet. Citrus, Lemon, and a bit of a chalky side. Hint of mint. There is a grassy note. Overall it smell remarkable young. Not very active casks they had for this. Taste: A little weak. slightly dry. a bit sour a bit sweet, hint of grass and again the chalky side. But there is not much going on here. Body: Thin but smooth Finish: Medium. A tad dry, a bit bitter. Some bitteroranges. Hint of citrus marmalade.  And there are tannines. Price: Don't pay more than €50,- everything more is pure speculation. Presentation: Decent as all F&F bottles Comments: Rather a weak whisky in a recommended series. I think there are quite old and exhausted casks been used here.

Quite light on the nose, fruity peaches, vanilla and malt. On palate creamy, soft , malty, vanilla with honey suckle , peaches . Mid palate biscuits and honey with lingering oak and malt. Actually there’s nothing wrong, quite inoffensive yet very simple. It makes an easy balanced between malty honey sipper that you can enjoy without thinking about it.

Strathmill 12 (Flora and Fauna 43%). Consumed Dec 2018 at The Britannia. Aroma is simple, oaky, vanilla, apple pie. Taste is rounded, lots of vanilla and spice, more peat impressions than I had expected, vanilla and oak, lovely apple pie and lingering spiciness (seems lightly peated to me) - yum, this is solid. Tasty. 3.4/81

From the beginning, fruity and delicate, later drying out, adding spiciness and, unfortunately, bitterness. A hopeful beginning, a hopeless end ..

Нос 79 soft and strong, rather closed, fruity-sweet with a sherry twist in the background, dried fruit and some earthy notes
Вкус 80 light but full of flavour, sherry, spicy oak, bitter herbs, smooth and rounded, rather sweet and simple
Финиш 80 oak, chilli, warm and smooth, dry, mid-long

Very pleasant to drink for me, even if it comes across as a bit edgy at times. I like this originality with little to no balance. So it stays exciting. That would be the case if you imagine this dram to have matured ten years longer. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to be able to enjoy something like that.

In general, it is a whisky that is light both in the palate and in the finish, and is relatively off on the nose. The alcohol content and aromas are insufficient and it has a simple drinking experience.
Нос 82 flowers, gummy bear, cinnamon, earth and vanilla. Rubbery, barley sugar, honey, wood, slightly spicy.
Вкус 81 A fresh palate that starts with lemon salt and ends with dessert. Honey, banana, pear, slightly spicy.
Финиш 82 Ginger, cloves and an interesting woody chocolate on the finish.

Tasted twice on two different days, and both times a metallic off-note was present on the palate. The whisky otherwise had potential, but unfortunately, this is a deal-breaker for me.
