В аромате — деликатные хересные ноты без перегруза: красные и сушёные фрукты (изюм, финики, инжир, персик, абрикос), мёд, ваниль, карамель, орехи, лёгкие землистые, кожаные и табачные оттенки, у части образцов — характерная «химическая», клеевая, растворительная нотка от хереса. Вкус маслянистый, гладкий и сладковатый: тёмные ягоды и фрукты, шоколад (молочный и тёмный), тоффи, орехи, апельсиновая цедра, умеренная пряность и кисловатый акцент, оттеняющий сладость. Послевкусие средней длины, суховатое, с дубом, пряностями, орехами и лёгкой шоколадной горчинкой; у некоторых оно коротковатое. Самые опытные ставят в основном 86–87 и ценят сдержанность, баланс и «херес как приправу, а не хересную бомбу», отмечая при этом анонимность аромата и сожалея о малой доступности; один опытный назвал виски откровенно скучным (83). Оценки заметно ровные, кучкуются в диапазоне 80–88, а расхождение проходит не столько между опытными и остальными, сколько по линии ожиданий: критики (80–84) сетуют на нехватку тела, глубины, сложности и крепости, находят напиток мягким до забываемости, «коньячным» и не соответствующим возрасту, тогда как сторонники хвалят маслянистость, чистую хересную сладость и лёгкую питкость. Показательно сравнение с более старыми партиями 1990-х и 2009 года, которые считают богаче, землистее и «настоящее» по хересу.

Quick hit review. Whisky calendar - Day 19. Tasted side by side with a batch from 2009. Huge differences in color. A modern sherry nose reveals peach, marmalade and figs, but it's not as rich, deep and earthy as the 2009. Balanced and tasty, the palate develops with oranges, raisins and mild spices. Vanilla, caramel and milk chocolate appear. Again, the old batch shines with 'real' sherry notes. Red apples, walnuts and ginger fade in the long and semidry finish. These are two different animals, the caliber of casks used in the 1990s is evident. However, both versions are great in their own right! RATING: 3.9/5.0 stars ≙ 86 pts → FIRST-CLASS [-]

Quick review. Advent calendar 19.12. An old acquaintance that I really like. My first rating of this is from a dram at The Mash Tun in Dufftown, so it may have been slightly biased by location. A pitty that there's not more of this available.
Нос 86 Still find the nose very pleasant and inviting. Light sherry notes with juicy red berries. A light earthy touch, and I get the same hint of pleasant glue notes as I got on the older.
Вкус 87 Rich and nuanced. The sherry is gentle, mixed with nuts. Midway it's joined by sweet chocolate and caramel. I have a vague memory that these used to be a little bolder towards more leather and tobacco. It also have a light orange zest which I didn't notice in earlier versions.
Финиш 88 The finish has a good length, it's sweet and really yummy with a pinch of spice.

Amber color. The whisky doesn't seem very oily.
Нос 88 Pleasant and intense. The influence of Sherry casks, perhaps closest to Oloroso, red fruit, blends nicely with fresher fruity aromas more reminiscent of orchard fruit. Now more sweet notes of dark blueberry fruit reminiscent of PX. Sour notes, blackberries. Caramel. Berries. Strawberries.
Вкус 87 Smooth, mild, slightly oily, pleasant. Dark berries. Very sweet. Blueberries, blackberries. Piercing sour accents. Chocolate with dark fruit filling. A little more dry on the second sip. More dried fruit. Delicate spice. A pinch of spices.
Финиш 86 Pretty full. Milk chocolate. Cocoa, but not that bitter. Traces of dark, sweet berries. Berries. Medium-long. Smooth and pleasant. Slight spiciness after the second sip.

Unfortunately, it doesn't really reflect its age. Although it looks like it's been opened for a while, I would have liked a Dailuane that was a bit more full and complex. It's interesting with its solvent-like chemistry rather than waxiness, but not enough to make me buy a bottle. Price performance: Medium Would I buy it again?: Unfortunately.
Нос 82 Light malty, pie crust. Tobacco. Waxy is faint, in the background. Light roasty, toasty aromas. Some cinnamon and baked apple. Volatile chemical notes from sherry like uhu. Crunchy honeyed side like Cheerios. A bit damp, musty. Slowly like fig chutney. Not volatile but not bad. Stings a bit on the nose.
Вкус 81 Chemical aromas intensify on the palate. Spices intensify as well. Black pepper, light cumin and lots of cinnamon. Low sweetness. Leather. Feels slightly watered down. Malt cookie. Doesn't feel as mature as it is. I really wish Dailuane was more waxy.
Финиш 77 Quite bitter and a bit too angular. Not too complex. Focuses on maltiness. Very light oak spice. Eh. A bit below medium in length.

It's not very sweet, but the bitterness is also very mild; it has that Yamato Nadeshiko feel to it! Notes date: 20220709 Reference price (based on rating): CNY 488
Нос 87 A very pleasant, light sherry aroma with a reduced alcohol content; the sweetness is somewhat restrained, unlike the rough and bold character of many other wines. The finish features subtle hints of mahogany furniture and a minty coolness. Simple and elegant.
Вкус 87 The flavor is not complex, but it is refreshing and smooth, as pleasant as drinking soup. It's like taking a bite of melted chocolate pudding, with a hint of sourness and bitterness after the sweetness, which blends into the flavors of spices and dates, or perhaps like unripe plums and green apples.

A flavourful whisky with a pleasantly oily texture, but one that ultimately lacks some depth and balance for my palate. The sweet and fruity notes tend to dominate, and I find myself searching for greater contrast and complexity that is difficult to find. Nose: Fruity and sweet, with warming spice and barley sugar. Palate: An oily mouthfeel delivering heavy sherry sweetness, toffee, fudge, dark chocolate and raisins. Fresh fruit, possibly orange, provides some brightness and attempts to balance the richer, sweeter flavours. Finish: Long, dry and oaky, with lingering nutty wood spice and a touch of dark chocolate bitterness. Overall: There is plenty of flavour and the oily mouthfeel is a definite strength, but the whisky feels somewhat dominated by sweet fruit and sherry influence. I would prefer greater balance between the sweetness, distillate character, spice and drier elements. Enjoyable, but ultimately lacking the additional depth and complexity I look for.

Tasted on 05.02.2024. First dram of a bottle split. A fine wine. Rather on the mild side, without any flaws and yet quite complex in terms of aromas. A little more oomph would have been nice. Then again 22.04.: Vanilla was noticeable this time, otherwise the first tasting was confirmed. Wood was less noticeable the second time. Also to confirm: The fact that the body could have been a bit stronger.

Nose: Wild rose, strawberry marmalade, gooseberry, blackcurrant, apple tart, smoked ham with plum, lots of sherry. Taste: Vanilla, caramel, cherry, plum, gooseberry, manuka honey, baked apples. Finish: Orange peel, grapefruit, cherry, ginger, dark chocolate. As always, a very solid whisky. I could easily call it ‘Lagavulin 16 from Speyside’ in terms of the level of this release.

Relatively mild and subtile yet complex. It's sad that no other distillery bottlings are available.
Нос 86 Lots of sherry, but not overloaded, with raisins, dates, vanilla, some oak, cream and milk chocolate. Very well balanced and exactly how a whisky should be, but overall a little too mild for todays whisky drinkers. I recommend warming the glas in the hands.
Вкус 85 Dry, with gentle oak at first, then sweeter. This is followed by vanilla, dried fruits, dates and rather dark chocolate. Towards the end there are flavours of toasted oak, maybe some STR sherry butts where used.
Финиш 86 Dry, medium-long with intense sherry at first. Very nice sherry casks. Vanilla, espresso, milk chocolate and then long-lasting but gentle oak.

Uncomplicated, decently matured Speysider with a clear sherry note, a little too weak for me at 43% but still quite tasty. Can, but doesn't have to.

Aroma: begins gently and almost whispering with floral and vinous notes. A note I associate with crushed grape seeds is followed by a light sweetness of raisins and maybe even dark plums. The key words here are gentle sherry tones. The scent is pleasant, but unfortunately also quite anonymous. Taste: things happen here. A wonderfully fine sweetness with distinctly vinous tones. Dark fruits. Raisin also in the taste together with the dark plums, which now return with a slightly sour note. The sour note complements the sweetness very nicely and this tastes sherry aged, but here the cask has been used as a spice rather than acting as a sherry bomb. I thank you for that! In the finish, the sweet-acidity lingers along with a light note of milk chocolate. Very nice! Verdict: this is a fairly careful, mature and balanced sherry aging that doesn't stand out in any direction at all. As a rule, I have a hard time with pure (smokeless) sherry bombs and even if the scent was anonymous, Dailuaine wins me back in taste. I appreciate this one. Very. The overall assessment is 86 points.

Rich and dense. A little bit of chemistry, leather, wood and fruit. And all this in a good balance of sweetness.

This was a great surprise for me. First impression after the first sip was hey taste where are you. And then suddenly a delicious taste explosion.
Нос 80 The smell that meets me is that of raisins in brandy and very soft
Вкус 85 As in the header, a gentle coastal wave that brings more and more flavors of cherries, raisins, sherry, but also something from another red berry.
Финиш 86 The full taste is exchanged well for a pleasant round sweet aftertaste.

Cognac ! The aroma and the taste, at least the first sniff&sip, made in blind, can be easily mistaken with cognac. The finish is for sure whisky'ish and what's important - decent sherry, but VERY short and mild. Probably would do better with 46-48%abv. It is either you like the cognac, or you don't. Pleasant on the nose with oak and a strong sherry influence. Very sweet and agreeable on the palate. Fruity notes of creamy red apples, plums, red grapes, and raspberries. The sweetness of caramel and malt candies, hints of grain and fresh herbs, and a touch of honey. On the finish, I discover spicy notes of oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate, and leather. This whisky is a liquid treat. With its pronounced, mouth-filling sweetness and excellent 43% ABV, it's a real pleasure to drink. In my opinion, it's the best bottling in the Flora & Fauna series, most comparable to the Benrinnes 15-year-old Flora & Fauna (WB 28004), although the Dailuaine is fruitier and more composed. For those who prefer something even fruitier, the Blair Athol 12-year-old Flora & Fauna (WB 274) is a good choice.
