[June, 2016]  Together with friends I emptied bottle no. 232 that I bought for 135 Euro in June, 2016. In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  My notes state a very sweet winey and quaffable dram that lacks a little depth and complexity to make it to 90 points. [March, 2019] I had another dram at a FoSM club tasting - a straightforward whisky that is easy drinkable with a rather simple (but tasty) profile.
Нос 88 The colour is old gold and the nose offers a sweet winey-malty profile with ripe fruits and spices. It is not the most complex one but nice to sniff.
Вкус 87 The taste is winey-sweet with barley sugars, spices and some bitter notes (herbs, tannins). Again rather simple but easy to sip. Water releases chalky-mineral aromas in the nose and turns the taste sweeter with less bitter notes (and the chocolate pops up earlier). I like this dram best when reduced to about 40% abv.
Финиш 88 The initial mouthfeel is warming but just a little coating with a minor bitter-drying moment (tannins). The finish is of medium length and adds some tasty milk chocolatey and nougat flavours that I like. No distracting moments here.

A great whisky for a cold chilly Moscow evenings.
Нос 88 Spices, cloves and cinnamon. Buckwheat honey.
Вкус 89 The smell of fresh hay. Sweet smell. Sweet taste, astringent. Tart.
Финиш 88 The aftertaste is sweet with a slight bitterness on the tip of the tongue. Very pleasant.

Too complex to describe completely after two short tests. Super Laddie .....

The CV 19 is a classic double maturation. Perhaps a few words in advance. In many cases there is uncertainty about when a real 'maturation' and when a 'finish' in the technical sense. The terms are not clearly defined. I have always made it relatively easy and explained in tastings. A whisky has a statutory minimum maturity of 3 years. So IMHO is also a complete finish for 36 months (post-) storage, but not a double maturation. But you can also see it differently. Fortunately, the case is unproblematic here. 18 years Bourbon, 6 years Sauternes. Unique Double Maturation. Unfortunately, nothing is known about the concrete bourbon barrel, as so often. Although Laddie does not clearly attribute the sweet-wine barrel, "Premier Grand Cru Sauternes" is mostly Laddie code for the world-famous Château d'Yquem. Dedicated to the CV 19 Arlene MacFadyen, so after Tina Mckinnon with 'Crew Valinch 03' now the second Bottling Hall supervisor has received their own Valinch - but this time no Port Charlotte. Eye / Nose: Visually a shiny gold tone. The malt leaves, as usual Laddie, beautiful stained glass windows and throws - unusual for the relatively low alcohol content, plenty of bubbles when pouring. To the nose. This time I deliberately decided against the Nosing glass and one of the pretty Laddie Tumbler, because yesterday I have already tasted the Malt and therefore knows that it brings in the keynote a certain sharpness. Also here is true, as always, not right on it! 24 years in the oak mean that he is allowed to breathe for half an hour before he starts. In the tumbler it looks honey sweet, a hint of vanilla pudding reveals the bourbon. A slight sharpness has remained, which makes the Malt, I think, very interesting - because it gives strength. He also has some fruitiness, which is difficult to grasp. Unusual for a Sauternes maturation. Most likely reminds of Galia melons, I would think so. Palate: On the tongue I feel the malt at first very soft and almost a little thin. Rather unfamiliar for a Bruichladdich. Could probably be due to the now somewhat reduced alcohol level of "only" 48.5% ABV. Amazingly little vanilla, nice sweetness, walnuts. Works soft for a moment, then the sharpness sets in. It reminds me much more of the chili catch of a Talisker 10 than a whisky, in which the alcohol would be poorly integrated. The malt on the palate looks amazingly similar to the also 1992 distilled 'Harvest Home'. The last of the Valinches before the crew series. Also in this 2013 bottled sister barrel dominated the time Pfeffrigkeit. Finsh / Conclusion: In the finish is the delicious melon note from the nose again. Honeydew melons are concrete this time. Light oak flavor. No unpleasant bitterness, remains thoroughly pleasing. The well-known sharpness flares up again briefly and vigorously, to vanish again immediately. Overall, a rather medium-length finish. Certainly a Valinch polarized. Atypical for a Sauternesreifung. But does everything have to be typical? We still talk about single casks. Like the Harvest Home, I also like CV 19 very well.

A fantastic dram, this is the "Laddie" I like.

F: medium gold, light red N: sweet and fruity, fruits: peach / apricot? Alcohol discreetly noticeable G: very light body, sweet and fruity like that - is the dram tasteless, or is that autosuggestion? A: long, so + H2O: no new impressions Not much to discover in the dram, but a treat

A very successful single cask from the crew Valinch series by Bruichladdich! For such a long maturation in the sweet-wine barrel, some facets are surprisingly dry and the fruitiness is not as clear as with other Bruichladdich from Sauternes barrels. Nevertheless unmistakable and a pleasure for me as a friend of (maturing) maturation in these barrels. With a splash of water he likes me, unusually for me, best.
