Pretty good actually, so far the best next to the Clynelish GoT

One thinks, there is something else coming up, just a little patience - but no, unfortunately, a nonsense. Unfortunately, it comes rather arbitrarily, the Talisker profile shimmers only remotely on the horizon.

Pretty good Talisker actually, above average peated for a Talisker.

[June, 2019] I am not a fan of fantasy movies let alone TV series so this is just another NAS bottling to me (remember: Never Accept Stupid marketing). I do not know the House Greyjoy but I am pretty sure they will not select this dram for their favourite drink, if they have alternative options. I do have, and that is why I will never buy such cheesy marketing stuff.

Nearly the 10-year-old quality, with Clynelish together silver medals on the GoT line.

Gold color. A bit brighter than the classic Talisker 10 YO. Whisky is quite oily. It does not run over the glass walls so quickly.

N- Oozing with sweet umami coastal smokes notes, Lifted sandalwood, ashy, beer-ish and yeasty. Not a swim-y octopus that stranded at shallow rocky bay, but consistent and well lasting. (86/20) P- Plenty of wood smokes salts, peppers, sourish dried fruits with Christmas spices, mulled wine, bitter-sweet stout and roasted nuance. (89/22) F- Long, liquorice, bay leaves, lasting oak and smokes. (87/21) B/B- 87/21 Cereal- 2, Fruity- 1, Floral- 0, Peaty- 2, Feinty- 1, Sulphury- 0, Woody- 3, Winery- 1, Spicy- 1 Weighted Rate- 84pt — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

Good drinkable Talisker, but not anymore.

Ironborn Who does not love Game of Thrones? When Diageo announced this special series of 8 single malts, in anticipation of the final season in April, I made sure I got my hands on a complete set. I confess, I was mostly looking for the Oban, Clynelish, Lagavulin and this Talisker. I know that in due time I will try them all, but this Talisker was the first to be opened, on the very day the set arrived. It represents the House Greyjoy, who worship the Drowned God on the Iron Islands and are a sea-faring people. Talisker seems a very good choice to represent this House. The nose is wonderfully complex with those typical Talisker notes on the one hand – smoke, pepper and citrus – but also some great hints of green olives, beef jerky and cloves. Some tobacco leaves and salted milk chocolate. Good mouth feel. Creamy and full. Again quite a bit of pepper, woodspices, vanilla and some apricots, but it’s the salted chocolate (or is it salted caramel) that takes the lead. The pepper becomes grand. Make that chili. Hint of heather and menthol. That continues on in the medium long finish, ending in chocolate, tobacco and pepper. This actually reminds me somewhat of the grand 8 Year Old from the Special Release, but in a light version. Great Talisker if you ask me, that fits the Ironborn from the popular series perfectly.

Affordable after the hype. Diageo's Game of Throne Single Malt Collection pays homage to the hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, with seven of the limited editions representing one of the houses and the Night's Watch.

An unbelievable and unbalanced Talisker! Clear salty note and for Talisker unusually much smoke - presumptive signs of youth!

N21 P21 F20 B21 Good young Talisker. That's it. Name make difference

Solid, well-balanced, harmonious, balanced whisky, young, not too deep, but very solid, self-sufficient.

The nose is very close to that of the Storm, there is no doubt about that. Maybe slightly sweeter. The sherry is less present, as well as the iodine and the heather, in short it's a little impersonal. That said it's nice, I find a little lavender, icing sugar and sponge cake. It's very slightly minty. An earthy touch, coarse salt. On the palate, it's quite fruity, hazelnuts, plums, pears, figs. The finish, however, is much better than that of the Storm, woody, caramelized, resinous, but without putting the fruit aside. Salt and strongly perceptible citruses, oiliness, ash, quite pleasant, whisky, differs from most Talisker releases

I love the Game of Thrones series and I really love Talisker distillery products, but I will not describe this instance, because it's boring! There is nothing interesting in it that I would like to describe. Young, monotonous and very simple whisky. Pros: easy to drink, preserved the family features of the distillery. Compared to other releases, this is the lowest rating I rated Talisker.

Talisker: easy mode. While the distillers edition makes Talisker almost disturbingly quaffable, this one seems to just dial down the sootiness and sea aromas, leaving a medium peated, watered down, but still workable and drinkable version of the classic malt. The very essence of a modern supermarket peated single malt whisky. Taste details? Why bother? It’s neither interesting nor offensive enough to warrant more than a cursory inspection. 84 pts. for the regular 10yo.

I found this better than the 8 YO special release, sweeter and clean

this non age statement malt has a poor flavor. A spicy start, with notes of caramels (added without a doubt), industrial honey to finish with peppery and grassy notes painfully enhanced by the saline smoke typical of Talisker.

Seaweed, brine and earthy notes. Cowshed and some subtle peat. Also sweetness and some fermented wine. Not bad, the best GoT Whisky for me. But that is not a big achievement. Well drinkable and typical Talisker with a very short finish.

Notes from a blind tasting. After it was announced which bottling it was: I was pleasantly surprised - strong, complex and without any off-notes.

The more Game of Thrones bottlings I drink, the more my opinion solidifies that all are not bad, but nobody has used these whiskys. Also, this bottling is not wrong, but quite unimportant, as so many Talisker standards these days.

I expected a "Storm"-kind of Talisker, meaning pretty yound stuff designed to taste more mature. Happy to find that this one is much better than that. In fact, you can find real "oak" in it which indicates to me that this is either not just 6 years old or still young but much better done than the Storm. :) The overall taste profile is not very clear which keeps it from an even better rating in my book. Very nice and drinkable stuff anyway.
