Very consistent whisky, same kind of flavors and aroma's from begin to end. A lot of red fruits, leather and chocolate. Recognizable as a Glentauchers? Not for me, but still pleasant though.
Though not a huge fan of sherry bombs, this is a gorgeous oloroso batch. Dried sultanas galore, even a touch of char smoke. Cigar smoking dram for sure.

Inviting nose, in part due to the vibrant fruits interplaying with the sherry casks.
Aroma Without water, first of all, a lot of alcohol spiciness, sweetish, milk chocolate, spicy, raisins The taste Sweet, almost sticky sweetness, alcohol well integrated, little pepper, honey, lots of sherry notes, raisins, lots of chocolate, wood spice resonance Long, still sweet, but the wood spice becomes stronger, sherry, chocolate
Aroma:Moderate;Palate:85/100; Aftertaste:Medium.

Andrej will get pissed off about this and I'll take it to the ground. Terrible
COLOR: Gold (without dye) - a very intense, powerful single malt - not an easy malt, definitely needs water - it is not quite my taste, too much sulphur in the Smell and taste - quite complex and intense, but one sample is enough for me - I don't need the bottle, from the 100 Proof range for I prefer one of the latter bottlings for my Taste, but still good quality - for 50€ not too expensive for the quality
Glentauchers is probably more of a second-tier distillery - but I enjoy each of their single malts, they have never disappointed me! ...a very good malt - with "dilution reserve" for 47.50 € (DEU/2024) - that's great! ...it works neat, but with a little water it releases significantly more aromas in the smell! [Color:] = amber;

Sherry full of smoky wood and melting dark chocolate. Then smooth jelly, green tomato fritters, dried apricots, almonds, dates, whole hazelnuts. Wood varnish. Grapefruit pulp, egg white. Citrus on the palate, with lively spices, cumin, clove. Lemon zest, vegetal touches, candied angelica. Long and powerful finish, orange and lime, light tobacco and coffee, chlorophyll, dolmades wrapped in vine leaves, ginger. Bay leaf, damp earth, liquorice. It's a nice drink, but I found some vegetal notes in it that didn't pair very well with the intense Sherry. https://ilikesky2020.blogspot.com/2024/09/glentauchers-2012-100-proof-edition-8.html

If someone is looking for a delicate whisky with lots of sweetness, fruit and chocolate notes. This is the whisky. Sweet, fruity, without overbearing bitterness, typical "women's whisky". Easy to taste, pleasantly warming, and at this price highly recommendable.
A real sulphur bomb. Not for the faint-hearted. I actually quite like light match and gunpowder aromas, but this goes well beyond that and is aromatically a little indecent.

Opens immediately after pouring, but seems a bit off-balanced - there is also a hint of sulphur. Caramel, vanilla, matches, honey, dried orange slices, Bundt cake that has been in the oven too long, ripe apples, light raisins, pears, oak spice. With a few drops of water, artificially fresh aromas emerge that remind me of ICE Fresh candies from Storck. |

Signatory continues with the 100 Proof series. Edition #8 is a Glentauchers, matured in 1st fill Oloroso butts. The whisky has a beautiful dark golden amber tone that goes well with the 11 years of maturation. Perhaps Signatory has really put an end to the trend of miserably dark bottlings. glen-efze.de

Great nose with lots of grape must and grape-nut chocolate. Very barrel-heavy but without a disturbing sulfur note. On the tongue it shows a very nice fruity sweetness, the chocolate becomes noticeably darker. But the finish is a bit one-dimensional. But at this price…once again one of the 100proof series that I really like.

An 11 year old Glentauchers from the 100 Proof series by Signatory Vintage. The Oloroso finish is clearly evident on the nose. The oak and the volume percentage really kick up the taste. But there are also clear signs of the Oloroso here. The finish is very dry and fruity. A beautiful bottling, slightly overloaded but not disturbing. Water relaxes and makes the whisky even fruitier.
Not a bad tipple, but the whisky is a bit too edgy and woody for me. Color - golden amber

I could describe this one in the same words as most of this series. Too much Oloroso perhaps, unlike the others, there is a lot of fig sweetness in this one... For me, this whisky is simply worthless...
Glentauchers 2012–2024, 11 years, 57.1%. Signatory Vintage 100 Proof – Edition 8. Matured in Oloroso sherry casks. Nose: Leather, raisins with cinnamon, single dates. Then also beef, lovage, and vegetable broth, followed by gunpowder and sulfur. I detect some burnt wood and cold iron, cloves and pepper, a hint of espresso with dark chocolate. Palate: Intense and dry, very spicy and a noticeable spiciness with a blend of alcohol, pepper, and cinnamon. Bitter oak tannins, grenadine, tobacco and cigar smoke, bay leaves and lovage, coffee with milk, and cloves. Finish: Long and fairly dry, one-dimensional. Raisins, sulfur, rustic oak, and pepper. Conclusion: I found the nose truly exciting and complex, but those who don't like sulfur aromas might find this Glentauchers a little off-putting. On the palate, I found it a bit over the top; all the aromas were distinctly distinct, but somehow didn't mesh well together. The finish, unfortunately, was only okay. Considering the bottle price, the value is again just right. 83/100 points (2025)

Nose: Sweet, cherry cream yogurt, a few spices, oak, malt, a hint of licorice ••• Taste: Sweet, licorice, spicy, dark dried fruit, malt, oak ••• Finish: Medium-long, sweet licorice with a little malt lingers. ••• Conclusion: On the nose I have a full load of cherry cream yogurt with a handful of spices. The licorice is light, like various Haribo varieties. The taste is strong. Sweet licorice dominates here and is much stronger than on the nose. There are also dried dark fruits with a tendency towards prunes. A delicious bottling from Glentauchers. The 100 proof suits the whisky well. No off notes.
Beautiful Speyside whisky. I neglected Glentauchers the last few years for being too generic. With these excellent sherry casks it is a different story. Still a bit one-dimensional but very good in this straightforwardness. Full review on https://whisky-odyssey.com/nl/TASTING-NOTES/Signatory-100-Proof-Series-Part-2/

Didn't catch on. Very formulaic, one-sided - standard Sherry, sometimes even daring. A slight alcoholic note creeps onto the nose. The taste is a higher level, pleasant, enveloping, sweet. It feels like 5-7 years, no more.
Clearly on the sweet side of the spectrum. Great raisin specificity on all levels. I like this very much!

I have the 11-year-old with 57.1% in front of me. The nose is surprisingly complex. The distillate changes its aroma back and forth. Herbs are there immediately. Pure or diluted with a little water: The Glentauchers is delicious! Undiluted, it is strongly malty with the typical sherry and almond aromas - which quickly turn into a hint of fresh mint/menthol. The finish is medium-long. A pleasant surprise! With a few drops of water it becomes creamy, sweet, like milk chocolate with almonds - soft and long. The alcohol is now more mildly integrated. Highly recommended
First sweet and fruity, but then with a really strong oak flavor. Unfortunately, for me, it's a bit too bitter and therefore unbalanced. The nose is a bit alcoholic but typical for a first fill Oloroso matured whisky. I can't taste any sulfur myself.
Signatory Vintage provides with this 11 year old Glentauchers from the 100 Proof Series, being both price accessible and delicious.
It's good value but doesn't feel real. Some random thoughts: *The sherry overwhelms the whisky. *At €45 or so you can't really go wrong but it's a strangely downmarket choice by Signatory, which seems to be going mass market--or maybe this is an outlier--or maybe I don't know about Signatory's history, mea culpa. I used to think of Signatory as an outstanding independent bottler but this changed my mind. *Cask strength, 12 years, independent bottler, not chill-filtered...I expected way more. *It's not bad but best as a way to impress non-whisky drinkers who come over to your house and want a wee dram. You don't want to waste the good stuff on them but feel bad giving them a Laphroaig 10. So you keep a bottle of this and can tell them all about non-chill filtered and so on. *Good for getting drunk as it's super sweet. *for all these reasons I'd recommend it. Especially at €45. If it were over 60 I'd bag out and snag a Caol Ila.
