Мощно торфяной Islay-релиз со сладким фруктовым уклоном — абрикосы и персики в дыму. Опытные ставят преимущественно 90, но есть заметный выброс вниз (84); большинство держится в диапазоне 88–89.

В аромате — жёлтые и косточковые фрукты (абрикосы, персики в сиропе, сливы, виноград) поверх сдержанного торфа и лёгкого дыма, с мёдом, ванилью, солёной карамелью, ирисом и щепоткой имбиря и чёрного перца; отмечают также хвою и «пыльный шкаф». Вкус сладкий, маслянистый и сливочный, с сочными фруктами, травами, лесной сыростью и землистостью, морскими нотами; в неразбавленном виде резковат и раскрывается мягче с водой. Послевкусие длинное, согревающее, с чёрным перцем, торфом, дымом, землёй и тёмным шоколадом, вплоть до асфальта, смолы и сильно обожжённой бочки.
Хвалят за концентрацию, сладость и баланс фруктовой сладости с торфяно-дымной основой, за длительное шоколадно-имбирное послевкусие. Критика касается резкости в неразбавленном виде и подчёркнуто «горелых», технических дымных нот. Оценки согласованы плотно: почти все в коридоре 88–90, опытные ревьюеры тяготеют к 90, но именно среди них есть единственный существенный выброс вниз (84), тогда как остальные расхождений почти не дают.

This whisky is sensational: sweet, honeyed, with notes of yellow apples, apricots, peaches, juicy melon, and a hint of ginger adding a touch of spice. The long finish, with hints of dark chocolate, caresses the palate and gently tingles the tongue.

Note by producer; Twelve casks of seven different types have been deployed by Adam Hannett in his crafting of a limited edition Port Charlotte called ‘TRANSPARENCY’ which has been released to visitors to BRUICHLADDICH DAY on 28TH May 2017. Port Charlotte ‘TRANSPARENCY’ is a heavely peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky created for Feis Ile 2017. Twelve casks of seven different types have been deployed by Head Distiller Adam Hannett in his crafting of this fascinating, limited edition. All the spirit used was distilled using 100% Scottish barley and it was matured entirely on Islay. It has been bottled at the distillery at 56.4% alc. vol. using just a splash of Islay spring water. In common with all our whiskies, there has been no chill filtration employed and no artificial colouring has been added. One thousand individually numbered bottles have been made available. Each carries the unique five digit batch code. Entering this batch code into the field provided on this product page will provide owners with details of the cask recipe used. Bottles will be made available for sale, to distillery visitors only, during ‘Laddieday’ on Sunday 28th May 2017. It promises to be a great day. (..and it was..;-)
