In the autumn of last year, I led the masterclass Glenallachie at the Czech Whisky Festival, which took place untraditionally at this time. I provided 5 tasting notes within it and in the end I also allowed myself to evaluate and organize them. Before that, I finally tasted them more than half a year after the tasting. It was a 10 cl sample, so there was more than enough material. Undiluted turned out as follows: 1. Glenallachie 11yo Grattamacco Wine Finish (WB182506) 2. Glenallachie 30yo (WB176604) 3. Glenallachie 13yo Rioja Wine Finish (WB182508) 4. Glenallachie 11yo Port Wood Finish (WB152144) 5. Glenallachie 12yo Sauternes Wine Finish (WB182507) After subsequent dilution with water, the order was slightly changed to: 1. Glenallachie 30yo (WB176604) 2. Glenallachie 11yo Grattamacco Wine Finish (WB182506) 3. Glenallachie 13yo Rioja Wine Finish (WB182508) 4. Glenallachie 12yo Sauternes Wine Finish (WB182507) 5. Glenallachie 11yo Port Wood Finish (WB152144) It was not my first masterclass Glenallachie and I have tasted more than enough samples from this distillery. With few exceptions, I was not very interested. For this reason, I was very pleasantly surprised by the 11yo Grattamacco Wine Finish, which was simply significantly different from the others. Along with 21yo (WB168872) and 1989 Cask No. 6121 (WB161721) probably the only one from the production of this distillery, for which I could imagine buying the whole bottle. Immediately after receiving the sample, I was not very excited about this 30yo. Now, after more than half a year, the impression is a little better, but it's still not goddamn enthusiasm. Now I can smell a lot of chocolate and poppy in terms of aroma and taste.

Very dark color. Downright ruby red with purple accents. Surprisingly rare for this distillery, age and barrels.

Powerful sherry bomb. Chocolate, candied fruit, leather, cigar, sweet (maple?) Syrup with cinnamon, gallery. 23.5-23-22.5-23. Thank you for the fit, Sergei.

I had quite high (possibly high) expectations for this whisky. I must say that, contrary to the opinion of most of my acquaintances, he did not make such an impression on me.

91-100 – Whisky heaven, best stuff

Incredible light and balanced dram. Delicate nose of plums, palate with tobacco leaves and red cherries. The best Glenallachie I had so far.

A beautiful, tasty and enjoyable whisky. Quite complex with good barrels. Didn't find any missing notes From my point of view, the hype surrounding this bottle is not justified and I would not buy a bottle at the issue price at the time.

Typical Glenallachie. I don't like this one at all either.

S 6.5 This is quite nice - a properly matured Sherry bomb that shows its aged factorsz But its quality is no way near £1000, a collector’s item.

Blenders glass Wonderfully licked hammer with good balance. Delicious, but without a spark. B23 Total 92

reminiscent of ... SMELL fine, wonderful scent of fruit cake, raisins and mocha. Is complemented with forest honey, roasted almond slivers and spicy cinnamon. In the TASTE, thick layers of dark chocolate with almonds, dates, maple syrup and honeycomb, candied orange and spicy oak.

Very smooth, winey and fruity, with light tannic influence - which is my favorite profile. At the time Billy Walker took over the Glenallachie distillery, most of the casks that have been matured in bourbon casks were re-racked into various sherry casks. So most of the distillate has the effect of 'finishing', and as a result it played a great role in the overall taste in this whisky!

Beautiful sherry malt that knows how to convince with notes of chocolate raisins, espresso, leather and fully ripe figs. Finally a really coherent and not overlaid sherry time. Really nice part! Unfortunately a mega hype malt that cost 550 € in the release, but hardly reached a customer at the price.

Very complex whisky, the age of which can be felt on the tongue as an adult. Very balanced whisky and pleasant to enjoy. I would like more of that.

Finally, the Glenallachie 30yo. Far out of reach at release and at prices I would never pay anyway. So I cherished the sample I obtained. Thanks R.! Let’s get on with it. Sweet prune juice, Mon Chéri chocolates, tobacco leaves, leather, mashed blueberries, some orange zest here and there, squeezed sour red berries, caramel sweets, hazelnut pasta and some of those green menthol sweets (albeit a bit feint). So this is a great whisky and perhaps worth it’s release price, but not nowadays €2k+ madness. All in all, it’s complex, very tasty and really gives you something.

Now that I have tasted the whisky twice, I increase it to 96 points. It needs a lot of air to open properly - but then for me it is one of the best whisky that I was allowed to try in my short whisky career. Unfortunately far too expensive to buy another bottle. Let's hope Batch 2 will be a bit bigger so that it will at least be affordable.

Nice, sweet, sherry

chocolate, tobacco, fruit cake, leather! a little almond / peanut side! gorgeous !!

Whisky that requires a leisurely approach. At first it seemed too closed, even began to disappoint... After breathing, the picture changes, the palette blossoms, a lot of confectionery appears mixed with spicy-woody tones. Of course, this sample is excellent, but personally I lacked a certain expression that I managed to capture in 4 Batch(e) of the same 30.

Nose: hints of sherry oak, chocolate, wet prunes and pipe tobacco Taste: chocolate-covered prunes, sour lingonberry and excellent oak Finish: long, with sparks of liqueur and berries I`m having a culture shock...

Tasty whisky, but unbalanced. The cask finish overpowers the distillate and the flavors seem to be overly manufactured. The GlenAllachie style does not give this old whisky its due respect.

Fruity taste, incredible impression of the overall taste of this whisky. The price of the first bottles was acceptable for its age.
