Насыщенный херес старой школы (в духе Macallan): чернослив, инжир, шоколад, орехи, кожа и табак с пряной дубовой пряностью. Мнения высокие и согласные, но часть дегустаторов задевает сера в аромате и вкусе.

В аромате доминирует тёмный, землистый хересный профиль: чернослив, инжир, финики, изюм, апельсиновая цедра и сушёные фрукты на фоне кожи, трубочного табака, ореховой пасты, кофе, шоколадного ганаша и мебельного лака. Дуб придаёт мясистую, слегка затхлую пряность, вплоть до почти торфяного, «хуторского» оттенка. Во вкусе — пряное перечное начало с тёмной вишней, гвоздикой, мускатным орехом и имбирём, сладость какао, апельсина и мёда, ореховый нугат и кремовость; вода усмиряет пряность и раскрывает дополнительные слои. Послевкусие длинное и сухое, с горчинкой какао, тёмного шоколада, дубовых танинов и мокко, уравновешенной фруктовой сладостью. Хвалят за богатство, глубину, сложность и элегантный баланс, при котором спирт хорошо интегрирован, а горечь не переходит границу. Основное расхождение — сера. Несколько опытных дегустаторов и часть остальных отчётливо ловят её в аромате и во вкусе: у одних она переносима и уходит с водой и выдержкой в бокале, у других воспринимается как дефект, портящий текстуру и вкусовые ощущения, из-за чего один автор сбрасывает балл, а самая низкая оценка (81) отмечает горькое, картонное, неприятное послевкусие. Другие серу не замечают вовсе и удивляются её упоминаниям. Второй пункт критики — избыточная гладкая сладость и, по мнению одного, нехватка сложности для верхних оценок. При этом согласованность высокая: большинство оценок в диапазоне 88–91 (с отдельными 86–87 и 93), опытные держатся около 88–91, и общее мнение — сильный, классный хересный Speyside «под Macallan».

How much you enjoy this venerable oldie will depend on your tolerance for sulphur.

Нос	91	A great old refill nose: leather, coffee, creamy nut paste, chocolate ganache, dried figs, aged aceto balsamico. Perhaps the tiniest hint of flint and/or matchstick head, but not at all disturbing. The oak has an enjoyable savory/musty/funky touch that creates an almost farmy impression, as if some peat were involved (which it almost certainly wasn't). Quite the experience.
Вкус	87	Without water, it's well drinkable for the first two thirds of the flavor development, then it suddenly gets so spicy that it's uncomfortable. Indeed some sulphur on the palate as well, though it remains within tolerable levels (for me). With water, the spiciness subsides almost completely, though a slight fizziness at the death remains. You do get the sense that the sulphur messes with the mouthfeel. Too bad!
Финиш	87	Flinty, still softly sulphuric, but also fruity and robustly spicy.

Extremely harmonious and very pleasant to drink, for 90 points it lacks a bit of complexity. Could be a Macallan, has the Brennereicharakter ..... who knows ;-)

This is just superb. The sherry butt had a wonderful but measured influence on the whisky, bringing richness and depth and complexity to this secret Mac, without being neither too woody nor overpowering. The spirit shines, and I really don’t understand why they would not be proud to put their name on this theoretical blended malt, because it would bring much more to their name than their 43% 30-year-old annual release sold for 20 times that price. Okay, I see the point: they would not be able to sell their 30-year-old for 20 times that price any more.

Нос	91	Neat: The nose is bright and fruity, with notes of sherry, figs chutney, and dates. There is also a hint of grassiness and a distinct leathery note, like the smell of a well-worn leather-covered book. A wood polish note adds a subtle depth whilst orange peel and mulled wine spices give a hint of warmth. The fruit notes are prominent, with raisins, plums, and red apples all present. There are also sweet notes of fudge, vanilla pod, and caramel. With water: The addition of water brings out damp leaves and autumnal notes, as well as a hint of moss. The sweetness also becomes more pronounced, without ever coming close to being too sweet.
Вкус	93	Neat: The palate is initially spicy, with notes of dark cherries, pepper, and even a hint of gunpowder. Cocoa and oak spices and cigar box notes adds a distinctive richness. In the mean time, orange and honey notes add a contrasting touch of sweetness, and sandalwood, clove, and nutmeg give a warm and aromatic side. Despite the spiciness, the whisky is very elegant and well balanced. With water: The addition of water brings out ginger notes, which add a spicy kick to the palate. The heat from the alcohol becomes more prominent, adding an extra dimension to the flavour profile. The other flavours become clearer and more expressive, making the palate even more complex and layered.
Финиш	90	The finish is long, with soft wood tannins and notes of dark chocolate, as well as fig and date chutney, giving a soft bitterness and structure on one side, and a fruity sweetness on the other. Finally, orange juice adds a bright and citrusy note, and wood polish adds a subtle richness.

Нос	92	Edgy start with old leather and furniture polish, a meaty, spicy note quickly follows, ham and nuts expand explosively before they are just as quickly displaced by a stimulating citrus freshness. The whole time there are subtle fruity notes in the background, which now attract attention in the form of rum raisins and plum chutney. Chocolate and tannins are added, everything is a very lively melange that constantly wafts back and forth.
Вкус	91	Peppery-sweet start with roasted peppers, prunes and josta berries, dry malty (not like malt beer, more like when you bite on malted barley), nutty, very dominantly oak-spicy (without that looking out of place, on the contrary, I find that in this case really tasty), followed by an indefinable (oriental?) spice note, mocha bitterness pushes towards the finish

Fantastic nose and taste, but it loses a point on the finish though. It seems that the bitter edge has a little more effect here than in the taste. Nonetheless, a good cask pick from the guys from Le Gus’t. Well done!

A strong, aromatic ex-sherry profile. It doesn't tip over into bitterness like many other old ex-sherry casks, but stays true to its sweet creaminess to the end. At best, too smoothly sweet, you could hold him up if you absolutely want to look for a point of criticism.

Somehow a very dark and earthy smell, almost tar oil, with damp hay, cinnamon, sulfurized prunes, pickled dates, currants and a small corner of glucose. I am very surprised that in the previous Notes I find little evidence of the sulfur that I have in my nose. Unfortunately, I feel this as a false mark. Otherwise, that could have been a really nice, mature sherry keg filling for me. Pity!

Нос	85	First, I have strong sulfur in my nose. So I leave it for about 30 minutes. After that, the sulfur releases heavy and sweet Sherrynoten. Raisins, pastries, moist earth, sawn oak, some leather. The alcohol is well integrated. With water, after another 30 minutes: The sulfur is as good as gone, as is the alcohol. The whiskey is round and smooth, so I like it. Red berries, wild honey, damp leaves in the forest, behind them a bit of malt, brittle and cane sugar.
Вкус	89	Spicy dark sherry, then a very strong onset, pepper, spicy, the high alcohol strength is noticeable. Short some gunpowder, cocoa, creamy latte. With water: barely tame, rum raisins, forest honey, brittle, roasted almonds, more chocolate, more coffee, oak notes, spicy, forest soil, more expressive, sweeter and more aromatic.
Финиш	90	Wonderfully long and expressive. Cocoa and intense chocolate, mild coffee, subtle spicy oak, nuts, very creamy. For me the strongest side of this whiskey

Нос	90	Butter-y, Wood, Gentle wood smoke, alcohol is nearly not present.
Вкус	92	Chocolate, marzipan, a bit of waxyness and à little bit of wood. Very powerful aromas, alcohol is perfectly integrated , that’s impressive ! It’s complex and it like the aeration, give time to this one and you’ll be rewarded ! :D
Финиш	91	Very long finish , mainly chocolate ! Well that’s wonderfull. Old school macallan at it’s best, never knew I could taste one that good ! Top notch ! :D
