Современный хересный профиль на американском белом дубе — фруктово-пряный, с тонким дымком; вкусно и питко, но без глубины. Опытные ставят 86–89, остальные разбросаннее (85–90), сходясь на дороговизне за такую взаимозаменяемость.

В аромате — вино с кислинкой, цитрус, красные фрукты (апельсин, финики, инжир, изюм, сливы), орехи кешью и жжёный кофе, ноздреватый перец и пряный дуб на свежем хересном бочонке; несколько авторов отмечают неожиданный тонкий дымок, будто в купаж затесался торфянистый компонент. Вкус крепкий и пряный на старте, с насыщенной сладостью (апельсины, коричневый сахар), перцем и заметным дубом; послевкусие согревающее, дубильно-фруктовое с кисловатым хвостом и лёгкой ореховостью, продолжающее вкус без нового развития. Добавление воды, по наблюдению одного опытного автора, ослабляет аромат и упрощает послевкусие, усиливая кислотность.
Хвалят вкусовую доступность и фруктовую сладость, критикуют — недостаток глубины и напряжения, а также цену за большую бутылку при взаимозаменяемости с другими современными хересными релизами. Опытные ревьюеры единодушнее и держатся диапазона 86–89, трактуя выдержку как современный херес на американском белом дубе — приятный, но проходной. Оценки остальных разбросаны шире (85–90): часть ждала характерной для Aberfeldy абрикосовой фруктовости и осталась разочарована её нехваткой и спиртовой жгучестью, отмечая типичный, но не выдающийся спейсайдский стиль.

Good strength. Aroma: tart-wine, fruit, citrus, spicy oak 21.5 Strong, fruity-oak-spicy taste. 21.5 Warming, pleasant tannic-fruity, sour aftertaste. 21.5 Balance 21.5 Updated 13.04.26 I added a little water - the aroma weakened a little, the taste became more sour and tart. The aftertaste also became simpler. I will leave a preliminary assessment.
A modern sherry barrel maturation, very tasty but also without great depth and tension. I'm guessing a barrel made from American white oak. Those who like the modern sherry profile are in good hands here. Personally, I find it tasty and drinkable, but too interchangeable in view of the price and therefore quite expensive for a large bottle.

The nose is exciting. Not incredibly complex, but interesting. A delicate smoke both on the nose and on the palate. Was there a Benromach in the default setting ?!

This is my first Aberfeldy in these tastings. It's a shame, actually, because it's a beautiful distillery in a nice place on the River Tay. I've been there several times, and even looked at the distillery from the outside - but in the end it's a corporate distillery (Bacardi) with an expensive shop and colored bottlings. The Craigellachie Distillery, which also belongs to John Dewar - Bacardi - brings more authenticity to the bottlings. And somehow there are also rarely affordable independent bottlings from Aberfeldy. I found this bottling from Gordon & MacPhail in the sample collection. It is from 2020 and is no longer available. It probably cost around €120, has a beautiful golden color and now makes me curious about Aberfeldy. glen-efze.de

I tried another Alberfeldy 1993 by GM before so I bought this bottle. But this one do disappoint me. Alberfeldy should be full of apricot fruity but this one isn't. It's not a bad dram, typical Speyside style but not as fruity as expected. Quite hot on palate as well.
