В аромате преобладают ваниль, мёд и светлые фрукты — абрикос, мирабель, засахаренный лимон, мандарин, папайя, айва — на минеральной, слегка меловой основе с отчётливой солёно-морской нотой и брызгами морской воды; звучат также сдоба, миндальный круассан, крем-брюле. Вкус мощный, полнотелый и сливочный, с балансом сладкого и кислого: терпкие фрукты (крыжовник, киви, арбуз, груша, карамбола), цитрусовая свежесть, ваниль, мёд, тростниковый сахар, минерально-солёные тона и дубовая пряность. Послевкусие средней длины или чуть длиннее, с долго тянущейся сладостью — мёд, ваниль, спелая груша, лёгкая цедра грейпфрута — и возвращением морского оттенка.
Хвалят прежде всего зрелость для своего возраста, чистоту без посторонних тонов, выраженную индивидуальность и уровень, сопоставимый со шотландской классикой (проводят параллели с Кэмпбелтауном, Bruichladdich Bere Barley, Kilkerran); незадымлённая версия признаётся не уступающей торфяным изданиям того же производителя. Критика немногочисленна и исходит от менее авторитетных ревьюеров: чрезмерная пряность и древесность, мешающие поднять оценку, и нехватка фруктовой сложности. Опытные авторы дают ровно по 88 и делают упор на солёно-минеральный морской профиль и самобытность; остальные держатся в том же диапазоне 86–88, а единственная выделяющаяся оценка 90 — восторженная, ставящая виски вровень с шотландской элитой, так что разброс мнений минимален и оценки хорошо согласованы.
There is absolutely no reason to miss the smoke of a Kornog here, because what the Celtic Whisky Distillery produces in terms of unpeated whiskies can certainly compete with its peaty editions.

A fine bottling from the Celtic Whisky Distillery, which I will gladly keep an eye on in the future, not least because of their smoky Kornog bottlings. They certainly know their craft there.

A very successful and unique bottling from the Celtic Whisky distillery. I would describe it as a combination of some mineral spirit Scotch and an Irish whisky. For the age, it is very mature and has no off notes. Biscuits, vanilla, minerals/chalk, powdered white sugar, honey, caramel, malt, sawdust, gentle herbal touch, unspecified yellow fruits combination.

French whisky competing with the Scottish elite. Blindfolded, 99% of enthusiasts would likely place this dram in Scotland. Celtic Whisky Distillerie has been gaining significant momentum over the last few years. The quality of their distillate is impressive, and this bottling perfectly reflects the expertise achieved. In terms of profile, I would rank this bottle somewhere between a Bruichladdich Bere Barley and a Kilkerran 16. Truly excellent execution. This is a distillery to watch very closely.
