Quick hit review. Peat and sherry tend to work like a charm, and this teaspooned Laphroaig is no exception. On the nose, vegetal peat smoke, fennel and sweet BBQ sauce are at the forefront, accompanied by prunes, raisins and tobacco. Dark fruits, menthol and a blanket of soot characterize the taste, followed by a long and peppery finish. A pleasing Islay dram with just the right balance between sherry and peat. RATING: 4.0/5.0 stars ≙ 88 pts → FIRST-CLASS
Not your typical Laphroaig but a seriously delicious dram non the less.

Full 10 years maturation makes the sherry component of this one very succulent and savory. Thick and rich dark fruit jam. It goes very well with the peat. No doubt it is an Islay but I'm not sure I would have recognised it as a Laphroaig if tasted blind. There's no medicinal notes and the tar-rubber-seaweed is very subdued. Not a bad thing and I don't miss it in this situation. A hint of methol to the peat if I don't put my nose to close. |

Nice creamy texture on arrival. Starts of on sweet sherry notes, and this stays on top all the way. However the peat is quick to follow, gently pushing in the background. Half way this is complemented by a dusting of peppery spice, giving it evolvement and growth which is so much better than fading too early. It may be the mint/menthol as I get a flash of freshness on the swallow. |

The finish is about medium length, and just about the only thing I wished there were more of. It remains on sweet jam until the end, the spice fading with it. And the fade is quite interesting, starting on sweet plum, going through slightly bitter sherry pits, I guess it's the final call of the peat, then ending on raspberry. |

Well worth trying to get a bottle - similar to the distillery's 10 year old sherry finish. An interesting dram.

The sherry cask knocks some of the rough edges off the alcohol, but there is a pleasant funk in the glass. |

Quite a long finish with some sweet smoke at the death. |
Anyone doubting that behind the name Williamson stands the Laphroaig distillery from Islay, should try this release. Lots of maritime salty peat, coupled to classic sherry undertones, dried sultanas, leather, coffee and a bit of dark chocolate. Wonderful.

I find that it needs awhile in the glass, otherwise I find an annoying rubbery note to be too prevalent. Afterwards it’s a consistent young-ish sherried Laphroaig. Simple but nice. Re-taste November 2022 I expect the sherry hogsheads were seasoned with sherry (such is usually the case now), as this tastes very simple and immature. No need for a full review this one, it's rather self-explanatory. Still, nice.

may 2021 compared to the standard OBs with this abv level (tripple wood, quarter cask or the new sherry cask) this expression shows less muscle and gets credit for its subtlety. of course, it is still a south coust islay malt, but the decency here is what makes the point. would prefer this over the OBs by far. big thumb up!

laphroaig peat but less medicinal. more on the dry woody side. still, a lot of kelp growing in the glass. fresh cut grass, a pinch of burned rubber. in the back some light fruit pop up |

this is truly a laphroaig, strong medicinal peat. umami flavors with raw mushroom, algae and some tar. still, the destillate is a very elegant one. the edges are additionally rounded by the sherry finish. easy drinker (if you can say that to a laphroaig). very light texture. |

middle for an islay malt, but not disappointing, i would rather say the opposite. |
my type of sherried Laphroaig - not oversherried, nice balance but still powerfull. good PLV imho. finish lacks the age a little, but nose and palate are beautiful. i like it much better than the 2010/2020 (ID 167870) version which was a little one dimensional for me. this has more facettes and takes small amounts of water.

This was a sample courtesy of peatbogger. I had a great sherry Springbank before this and it might have suffered because of it. Still the Carn Mor is knocking out great whiskies at a great price.

Now this is heavily on the peat side with the sherry notes as the side order, but it is Laphroaig after all. Brine as you expect and cured meats. |

Still heavy on the peat and light on the sherry but that's the way it was meant to be so I can't heavily criticise. Those Laphroaig characteristics are in your face and the more sips I have the less the sherry influence. |

Sweet and sour sherry smoky whisky with a good balance of spices, dried fruits and phenols.
tastes like Laphroaig to me with this sweet dark fruity support to the smoked fish, peat smoke. Evening spring campfire and overall creamy. Nice

Laphroaig with the sherry barrels makes a very good combination here. Delicious!

Nice medicinal Laphroaig. The abv reduction makes it boast less than a 10yo CS from the distillery. But it makes it very drinkable as it happens with many Strictly Limited bottlings. I generally prefer cask strength whisky. But these series are very well crafted and this is a nice example.

Not very long; ashes again, peppery, leathery, salty seaweed is what lingers a bit more than the rest. |
The low ABV really disappoints here. It's a lovely dram with so much potential, but I was left wanting to crank the intensity up. Nose- it's a soft nose, BBQ smoke that's tightly integrated with black fruits, concord grape, there are also some funkier notes of tobacco Taste - the arrival is sweet and smoky, coal dust and brown sugar dominates here with an undertone of those black fruits, oyster shells, caraway on the turn Finish - short - just a touch of brown sugar, but the finish quickly turns to more coal dust, ash
