В аромате доминируют минеральность, мел, солёно-морская нота, растительное масло и мёд, поверх ярких горьких цитрусов — грейпфрута, лайма, кровавого апельсина, — с ванилью, какао, тропическими фруктами и едва уловимым дымом и анисом; кто-то ловит машинное масло и «грязноватый» дистиллятный характер. Во вкусе виски бархатисто-мягкий, плотный, солёный и маслянистый, с зелёным яблоком, ананасом, белым перцем и меловой сухостью; послевкусие среднее, сухое, пряное, с цитрусовой кислинкой и тающим лёгким торфяным дымком. Хвалят за чистоту без посторонних тонов, за узнаваемый характер винокурни, который вслепую не отличишь от Springbank, и удачное сочетание свежего бурбона с дистиллятом. Опытные ревьюеры единодушно держат оценки в диапазоне 87–90, отмечая минеральность, морскую свежесть и питкость; расхождения дают меньшинство и часть рядовых авторов, ставящих 83–86: им виски кажется слишком прямолинейным и простым для своего 18-летнего возраста, зелёным и вяжущим к финалу, водянистым, с торчащим спиртом при невысокой крепости и коротковатым послевкусием. Общая согласованность высокая — почти все оценки укладываются в 86–89, а критика касается не качества, а недостатка глубины и полутонов.

A child of his parents. You could easily put it blind in the corner of the Springbank, there is so much mineral, so much maritime ... Very gratifying that fresh bourbon casks were used here. In my opinion, there is hardly a more suitable type of barrel for the distillate from Springbank.
Нос 89 Hello Campbeltown! With your mineral note, your freshness, your subliminal lemon, with your pepper. Grapefruit juice plays with it, lime as well, blood orange - generally a scent of bitter citrus fruit wafts through the nose. Jaffa cookies, red pepper, cranberries.
Вкус 90 Velvety soft with lots of chocolate and cocoa powder in the beginning. Slightly dry. Clearly maritime, in this form hardly distinguishable from a spring bench. Salty. Tropi Frutti gummy bears, pineapple, gooseberries, damp pebbles, dry wood that even plays a little in the smoky corner. Caramel, honey drop.
Финиш 88 Medium long and dry, with pepper, pineapple water, lime juice, salt.

I expected more from this, I have to say. Very okay to drink, but far from delightful, especially toward the end.
Нос 86 Sweet-and-salty Japanese rice crackers (the kind with bits of algae in it), vegetal notes (artichoke & avocado?), citrus, empty but not yet cleaned ashtray. Rather straightforward and simple for its age. Surprisingly, it's still a bit spirity despite the use of "fresh" (which to my mind would mean: first-fill) bourbon barrels. Perhaps only a re-racking / finishing? Much better after a few minutes of breathing in the glass. More creamy and well-rounded now.
Вкус 87 Good strength, nice thick texture, no burn. Freshly starched cotton/linen, lemon zest, graphite, mineralic notes. More fruity (peach, tangerine) with water.
Финиш 83 Rather dry, citric and tart / acerbic, with some soft peat smoke wafting around in the background. Still some neutral-alcoholic booziness. Feels younger than 18 for sure.

Lots of pretty promises here. Unfortunately a little too astringent on the palate and on the finish for me.
Нос 88 Very nice, expressive and quite chiseled nose. A nice dose of spray, crème brûlée, hay, white pepper, slight perspiration, eucalyptus. The fruit is discreet but present. Green apple, roasted pineapple. With aeration, the aromas melt a little and a light smoke appears. Smoke in a Hazelburn?
Вкус 87 In the mouth it is quite green. Fresh grass, eucalyptus, fresh mint. Wood, clove. Granny apple and light tropical fruit, but set back. Pineapple, papaya. White pepper.
Финиш 86 Final on exotic fruits, ash smoke. It's very fresh, with pepper and mint. Still a little green and an astringent.

the bourbon barrel of the first pour always works well for me, but everything is always somehow too average, it's hard to catch the halftones and the play of colors, this is no exception, not bad, but not what I would like, it is similar to taste, except that it is worth adding that alcohol sticks out a little as for a relatively low strength

nose Maritime, oily but also fruity-sweet smell. Special but tasty. Somehow dirty, with some engine oil or something? A trace of smoke and anise. Well integrated alcohol, strong but without stinging. Beautiful oak and vanilla in the background but clearly pushed away from the distillery character (I assume?). Caramelized green sweet and sour apples. Grapefruit? And other citrus flavors too. Mineral aromas are added in the background. taste Very well integrated alcohol, strong but round and pleasant to drink. Continue with the same aromas, maritime, salty, and yet sweet and sour fruity. mineral aromas combine with citrus and grapefruit. Still light smoke and a touch of engine oil or something. Very tasty and goes in really my favorite distillery with the taste profile. Exit For a long time with light pepper on the edge of the tongue, but then above all still slightly mineral, salty, maritime and fruity all at the same time. The oily and salty layer sticks to the tongue for a long time. Light smoke remains. Conclusion A very tasty malt, the character of which fits perfectly into my prey scheme. Great! N-89, T-90, F-89 for a good 89 points

A straightforward, beautifully matured Hazelburn from a bourbon cask with no off-notes.
Нос 89 Herbal honey, grain silo, minimal smoke, lots of salt. Typical and simply good.
Вкус 88 Similar profile as on the nose, nice and chalky, full-bodied, well-aged.
Финиш 88 Medium length, Springbank Funk fades away slowly.

Delicious part, even if I would have hoped for a little more complexity. You should definitely experiment with water.
Нос 88 Lemon cake, whole fine citrus notes with some pastries, lemongrass on the coast, mineral freshness, but the typical Hazelburn tin bucket is rather well integrated and reserved, with water the whole thing turns into a super sweet, juicy lemon, recommended
Вкус 90 Powerful start with a lot of marzipan, in addition slightly astringent and mineral dryness, a lot of citrus-heavy spice, creamy over time but still tangy and sour, with water here too sweeter and less dry, but also spicier
Финиш 88 Mineral, citrus-heavy, spicy, now surprisingly lovely, very pleasant and invites you to take the next sip, the finish becomes much fuller with water - also recommended here

A very good representation of an older ex-bourbon matured Hazelburn. Springbank/Campbeltown funk (without the smoke), malt, sweet/sour candy, toffee, caramel, honey, lemon, yellow apples, significant chalkiness/minerality, oak, black pepper.
Нос 89 Yep, this has been matured very well. Quite complex. No off notes.
Вкус 88 Medium viscosity. A bit spicier/sharper than the nose has suggested.
Финиш 87 Medium. Honey, malt, minerality, and spiciness dominate.

Slightly sour with "carpentry" notes because of the fresh bourbon barrel, but with nice fruity notes on the palate resembling Ben Nevis and with an oily, mineral and farmy nose that reminds you that you are still in Campbeltown

You can get it's a fresh bourbon casks from the vanilla notes. I also enjoyed very much this citrusy and salty feeling and notes of marzipan. Alcool is present but nicely integrated I think. I like it.

Blind tasting: Nose: After the recent Clynelish I have to think about it, this whisky and the Clynelish combine the mineral notes (moist stones, limestone, crushed mussels). I don't think it's a Clynelish, I miss the honey notes here. Sweet lemon (limoncello!), Vanilla crescents. And something else metallic? Seaweed. And subtle fruit notes, apple, blueberries. Very nice fragrance, I like it very much. Mouth: Marzipan, citrus fruits, seaweed paper for sushi rolls, slightly earthy. White chocolate, peach, pineapple, kiwi. Nice interplay between maritime, earthy-mineral and sweet. Has a nice depth that the Benromach previously tasted lacks. Kind of reminds me of inchgower, only "dirtier". Finish: Medium length, clearly tart (lemon and pineapple), only very subtle fruit. 89/100 Conclusion: A great whisky, nice play of aromas, expressive and everything but not boring.

Not an overly complex, but the beautiful nose, lovely mid palate, the finish was a slight let down but didn't destroy the overall experience.
Нос 89 Loads of juicy fruits and citrus notes instantly. Hints of Springbank salinity from the bourbon casks, mixed with light touches of shoe polish. Beeswax, infused with a lemon tang and olive oil. Overall, lovely nose, exactly what I would come to expect from hazeburn.
Вкус 88 arrival is quite fruity and loads of juicy fruits begin to appear. Lovely mid-palate, with traces of lemon tang to be found all throughout.
Финиш 87 The finish then falls a little flat, quite tannic, with drying oak and bitters. Whilst the finish could've rounded off slightly better, the experience wasn't a loss. Not often we get to try some aged hazelburn, this is a great everyday sipper, not overly complex.

A very unique Hazelburn experience. Nose: green, sugar snap peas, very clean and grassy, as it opens up more dunnage-y notes on the nose, a bit funky, tropical notes come through with water Taste: good texture, waxy and syrupy, sweet and sour, dunnage floor, candy apples, papaya - as it opens up it's really dirty and dunnagy for a HB Finish: bitter wood, slightly green, dirty dunnage floor, dry
