Tasty, quite solid PX Sherry whisky, quite pleasant and calm, although the depth and complexity of age is not felt, and maybe that’s why it didn’t grab me. Ok, good whisky, but to be honest, I don’t need much of Inchmurrin itself, but a lot of good sherry cask!! 22 21+ 21+ 21+ 86+

[July 2023] Oops, again I am the first to write a review, hence there is no preoccupation to my taste buds (which is good). I really liked the latest editions of Loch Lomond distillery from IBs (independent bottlers), especially the peated Croftengea range - simply because these were all honest and no-BS drams of high quality. As a consequence, I have to try these two new Inchmurrin releases as well... ...which was not a bad idea. This PX maturation is flawless and very enjoyable, provided you like the rather sweet PX profile. The sherry dominates somewhat, but as this sherry was of exceptional high quality this is not a flaw according to my taste buds. If you prefer delicate sherry maturations you should rather go for the Oloroso siblings release - but if you are more into the sherry monster category this PX might suit your taste (despite it is not a monster as such).

The colour is very dark at burnt amber, and the nose is rather shy at the first sniff. But some oxidation time opens it up quickly, and the profile is both flawless and balanced. Like with it's Oloroso sibling this nose is not that of a massive sherry monster where all other aromas are hidden behind a wall of wine. Both malt and wood manage to contribute their share to a balanced mix, but it takes about 25 minutes until the profile is enfolded in full - so take your time with this dram (remember: great malts require patience). |

The taste is much more impressive with the PX clearly in the driver's seat. But the malt and wood do not surrender, and after some chewing they manage to establish some kind of balance. Nonetheless, the PX is at the helmet, no doubt. This taste is much closer to that of a sherry monster than its Oloroso sibling - but it is not a monster as such. Again, all the flavours sherry-malt lovers adore are present, and the taste is much sweeter than the Oloroso. I like it too, simply because the quality of all three malt-wine-wood is very high and it is very enjoyable (should I say: dangerously?). |

The initial mouthfeel is warming and coating with some minor bitter impressions from the wood, but these are not a major deal because of the very sweet PX flavours. The finish is long and fades in slowly waves, while adding more milk chocolate and raisins. There are some minor cardboardy moments towards the very end, but again these are not a major deal (and most drinkers might not recognise them at all). Water releases adorable nutty flavours both in the nose and on the palate, and turns the dram even more quaffable. I like it best at a reduction level of about 45% abv. |

A wide palette of thick, sweet tones of dried fruits and dark berries.
Tried both bottlings at the same time. I personally like the PX better. The barrel dominates more here, but in a great way. Blind I would almost guess an Irish dram 86-90 – Wow, really good one, need a bottle

Chocolate, full broadside. Stays in the mouth for a very long time. |
Very tasty, but in the overall picture the aroma profile does not hit my nerve enough with regard to the 220 euros that I would have to spend for a large bottle. The sample was delicious and a nice experience, but enough.

I like this PX-Loch Lomond here a bit better than the 25yo counterpart from the Oloroso cask (WB235413). Both are around 90 points, but I actually think this one is a point better because it has a clearer profile. It's already very sherry, but still getting the curve.

.5 A modern, balanced PX sherry malt - 25 years, 51.1 percent and a cask that has not dominated. Here you can find the plums, the leather, the sweet chocolate, the herb candy just in the background. |

He needs time in the glass to open up for the nose. It is really easy to drink and simply tastes delicious.

It seems closed after pouring. After 30 minutes he opened up to me. I notice dark fruits. The flavors seem heavy. The initially clear alcoholic pungency in the nose gradually recedes into the background. |

Creamy and dark syrup. He's really cute. It adds a nice spiciness. The 51.1% match the taste impression very well. The PX influence is evident but well integrated. |

Medium length and the PX influence remains. The oral cavity is completely lined with a very sustainable PX experience. |

Described perfectly by Josh and hs305. I find him sensational. I tasted it from a sample and I'm thrilled. I'll get a bottle.

Fine, clear sherry profile. Looks very harmonious and round. In my eyes, however, he does not have the very high level. For its age and price, there are better ones out there.

Dense, heavy aromas fill the air. One can already guess that this will be a tough, sticky affair. In a positive sense. Lots of sherry, tobacco and leather. In addition chocolate and dried fruit like raisins, dates, figs. Something reminiscent of roasted almonds with cinnamon. Alcohol is nicely integrated. |

Tingling, spicy mouthfeel, dark sherry aromas ensure a creamy, oily mouthfeel, syrupy somehow sticky sweet to me. The oak seasoning provides a good contrast to this. Tobacco and leather, chocolate, all together very sweet, which is further supported by cherries, strawberries and plums. |

Long finish, spicy, still a lot of sherry-sweetness, you can still feel the wood, chocolate, caramel, roasted aromas, a bit bitter at the end, |
A bit weak if you ask me. A couple % more ABV would have spiced things up. This whisky deserved better

Very rich sherry whisky. As for a 25 year old, there is not much oak. Sweet, viscous, syrupy. A little varnish, pastries, caramel, cherry pie. A great option for a hot summer evening. The sherry is much stronger than the whisky itself, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to drink.

Clearly a big sherry, but not the monster its color suggested. How to get inside with delicacy.

Nice PX with no off-notes in terms of no sulphur. Alcohol is slightly worse integrated as it is in its' oloroso counterpart. Not as complex, too. Altogether a good, modern, sherry maturation, which does not smell like 25yo. Sweet vanilla with dark forest fruits. Cocoa in the back. |

Kind of creamy and sweet mouthfeel. Nicely chewable. Cola, dark berries, a bit of crushed pepper and candied ginger. A bit more cask influence than in the oloroso cask matured one, but also more complex than the nose suggests. Nice tannins, without getting too bitter. |

Almost dead spirit Sugar and some spice What a gap between this one and his Oloroso Brother |
Tasting note coming in October 2025 on www.longpouramour.com. My conclusion there will be: "This is just PX sherry bottled at whisky strength. Was there Inchmurrin in there? I can’t tell. There is nothing wrong with this stuff, but it is a far cry from what true single malt whisky should be. For fetishist who like to see whisky drown in sherry."

Very velvety stuff. Plums, umami, soy, raisins. Just compared it to the oloroso version with 52,2%. This px is thicker, more powerful in the nose, sweeter (never too much & far away from being sticky) and has a longer finish. Alcohol at 52,1 % abv perfectly integrated. I like the soy sauce style. Certainly a little over the sherry top malt but very tasty. Not a malt for every day. Can't really tell the age. Feels younger but not young, no wet cask abuse or unhinged mouthfeel. No sulphur - neither the other version.

AROMAS: A symphony of velvety sweetness, ripe dark fruits, and warming spices. The scent entices with deep layers of cohesiveness, sweetness, and a good old cellar. TASTE... full and layered, with notes of dark chocolate, spiced oak, and sherry-soaked sultanas. Every sip is full, round, expressive, and delightful. FINISH: Long, lush, and seductive. Sweet molasses, ripe figs, and juicy black cherries linger on the palate. The 25-year-old has clearly done a good job of blending this perfectly, with the alcohol being just a minor addition to the overall flavor.
An absolutely flawless malt, without question. But beyond that...?
Aroma: dried sweet fruits, raisins, plums, sea salt, orange peel, apricots, honey, almonds, nougat, milk chocolate, caramel, a touch of seaweed Taste: sweet, vanilla, milk chocolate, sea salt, orange peel, dried fruit, cinnamon, roasted nuts, slightly woody bitter taste, early pepper, cloves Finish: sweet, woody, honey, dried fruit, slightly chocolatey, slightly salty at the end, cinnamon, black pepper
. AROMAS - The sherry cask influence is quite pronounced and obvious. The liquid is sweetish, dark in aroma, with a slightly "orange" undertone. Not to mention raisins, cherries, and toffee. A faint trace of almond, walnut, and toasted oak. TASTE - delicate and airy, then roasted with pickled ginger and roasted fruit. A drizzle of honey, or even a honey-dipped hazelnut, and candied plums, a moderate amount of pepper, vanilla, and cinnamon. It reminds me of a sun-baked chocolate bar with caramel and cashews. Very pleasant to drink. FINISH - quite long, thick and oily, with a trace of milky notes Chocolate with a slice of orange. There's plenty of it. Dark grapes, and after a while, steamed raisins.
